Was good for a short time

Our church got about one good year of use from the unit. After that it was nothing more than a terrible WiFi router with no range. Signal was so weak you couldn’t connect a phone in the same room. The very unreliable software that was meant to act as a video switcher but connectivity issues out the wazoo and broken contacts on the audio input made this thing a real headache. About 6 months ago I talked the team into switcher studio. It does everything Sling did and better.

Great App for the SlingStudio!

This turns your phone into a camera and sends the signal over wifi to the SlingStudio. The SlingStudio is a portable studio solution to switch several cameras or phones and stream them to the web . You can record or stream! This can give you professional options at consumer pricing. Need graphics, no problems. *Must purchase SlingStudio separately to use this app.

Updates Please

This app works for the basics but has a bug with adjusting brightness in latest iOS version. You make the adjustment and then it reverts back to default automatically within 5 minutes.The app should also take advantage of the latest features of the iOS camera app with iPhone 11 Pro. Would allow for a great multi camera setup, and for better white balance live, instead of having to do it in post production.Why has development stopped on this? I would be willing to even pay for the app to keep it updated, as it easily integrates.

App CONSTANTLY freezes.

I'm a 53 year old I.T. tech. I know how to setup/configure/run equipment like this in my sleep. I've tried using this app with two separate iPads; a 12" Pro and and iPad Air 2. The "Connect to your SlingStudio" window CONSTANTLY pops up EVERY SINGLE TIME I'm Livestreaming which freezes the app and renders it's functionality completely useless! The stream continues but I can no longer switch cameras or insert graphics or control audio or ANYTHING! All my equipment is within 10 feet of the SlingStudio unit and all running on full power.PLEASE FIX THIS!

Camlinks for capture charging issue. Needs Software fix immediately

Issues with Camera Link (leas than a year old) not charging because the battery discharged too low for the charging circuitry to safely restart charging. I am told by the SS FB Group pros thAt I have to replace the whole unit since apparently battery replacement is impossible once it drops below charging status. That your software that prevents it from charging at that point.Would you be willing to replace my camlink? Or update the software so CamLinks can charge even when they get low like mine?

Update please

I attempted to use this app for the first time on the new iPhone 14 pro Max and it’s not wanting to connect. I made sure I selected the sling studio Wi-Fi option but still was unsuccessful. Not sure if it’s the new operating system or the phone itself! Hopefully an update will fix the issue. To be able to use this app for a secondary camera option for my church is very helpful because we don’t have to purchase another camera! The new iPhones have unmatched camera quality!

Capture App Needs More Features

We’ve had our Sling Studio for a week now and it’s mostly great. However for the price this Capture app really needs to be improved. It would be perfect if it had the functionality found in the FiLMiC Pro app. But at the very least it needs to offer better control of exposure and focus similar to how FiLMiC Pro provides reticles to choose independently choose focus and exposure areas and then lock in each setting by just tapping the respective reticle. The Capture app allowed some exposure setting that looks like it might be allowing us to lock the exposure but shortly after that it switched itself back to auto exposure. These limitations make it very difficult to set matching images on multiple cameras. In fact often the forced auto exposure was significantly overexposed. It would also be great if the app allowed us to choose some basic options like frame rate. So this app is marginally adequate. They need make it much better. Unfortunately, as it is right now, it just doesn’t allow us to make the best use of the camera’s built in functionality. Hopefully future updates of this app will fix these significant shortcomings.

This app needs UPDATES ASAP!

I’ve been using sling studio for about 3 years for weekly livestreams with either the cam links on DSLRs or connected to iPhones. Overall I love the connectivity and features. You can do a very decent production on the go if you know what you’re doing. Now, has issues when switching to PiP using a audio line-in. Updates needs:Please update split screens and be able to switch cameras on split screens. Update on being able to control the phone’s cameras from the app (zoom, exposure etc,)Update on selection of phone’s cameras/lenses More graphics! Be able to use more than 2 video sources at once. Thank you!

Useful but limited

I am repeating what has been mentioned before, but it would be nice to utilize the full functionality of the iPhone (manual exposure and focus, choice of iPhone 11 lens, etc). Or at least enable the ability for other video apps (i.e. Filmic Pro) to communicate and send video to the Sling Studio hub. This is probably out of the scope for an app...but maybe functionality like Audiobus, but for video. As it is, using an iPhone is not a viable alternative to using a cameralink (with a camera).

Convenient, but needs work.

The capture app comes in handy for turning your iPhone into a wireless camera source for SlingStudio. Like other reviewers have stated, this app needs more features added to be able to control exposure, focus and zoom on-the-fly. Also, you need to add support for 4K to be recorded in the Capture app to the smart phone. I understand the main recording on the SlingStudio hub is set to a max of 1080p, but individual iPhones that have 4K capability should be able to record in 4K within the app, to be used for replacing the clips in post. Another feature request is to add support for a DJI Osmo Mobile to be used as a remote pan/tilt head for the iPhone using Capture. SwitcherStudio has all three of the features I mentioned. If SlingStudio adds these things, it will sell like hotcakes!
