Update - Simplehuman has fixed the issues.
I would have strongly preferred to not have had to contact Simplehuman’s support team as I have been very sick and did not have the time or energy to spare, but in a recent update they actually did address the issues I brought up and fixed the app. I appreciate that they listened to my concerns and this app now includes all of the features that I want. Previous review:My mirror was working perfectly with the old app. I opened it today and it has apparently been redesigned and I was directed to use this app instead. This app is missing two important features of the old one. I cannot see the charge level of my mirror now, and I also cannot adjust the settings so that the light turns off automatically for any length of time past 30 seconds. The previous app allowed me to choose 1 minute, 5 minutes, and 10 minutes, on top of the options this new app has. I’ve enjoyed having this mirror but unless those features are added to this app, I will not purchase from this company again.
New app is terrible
I don’t understand why they changed the app when the old app was working fine. This new app is terrible. I can’t see how much battery I have left on my mirror and I can’t set the sensor for more than 30 seconds, so the mirror turns off every 30 seconds unless I have my face pressed up against it. It’s very annoying! I thought it was out of battery or malfunctioning until I was able to get into the app (that also took a long time) to see the sensor settings has changed. I also didn’t receive any notification that the old app was discontinued and I had to download a new one. Please update with these features!
New app doesn’t work
I have sensor mirror pro wide view. It worked fine with the old app. With the new app, it has issues with the Wi-Fi even though my Wi-Fi is fine. The app can find the mirror but I cannot change any settings in the mirror. Very frustrated. After reading other reviews, I realized the company didn’t fix the app for at least two years. I contacted their customer service once using the text message but they didn’t have any answer for me…
New app is incomplete and inconvenient
I’ve had my mirror for over three years and I love it, however, I do not love this new app. The old app had a feature that would allow you to keep the mirror on for 10 minutes at a time. It made it super easy to do my makeup seeing as I didn’t have to turn it back on every 30 seconds. It’s extremely frustrating that I now don’t have access to that 10 minute feature. Please bring it back! I don’t want to have to purchase elsewhere from now on.
I have loved my mirror until now
I’m having the same problem as others with this new app. I have tried to link with my mirror for several days. My WiFi is working, my Bluetooth is on but even with putting my phone right next to the mirror it can’t be found by the app. I won’t keep wasting my time so have ordered a new mirror that gets mostly 5 star reviews and is 1/3 the price of my current mirror. I will never buy another product that’s controlled by an ap. UPDATE to my review of January 12. This is now January 27th. I did as you suggested and downloaded instructions from your website and still was not able to link my mirror. The last instruction said if I still could not link I was to contact your customer service to have them update my profile; all this to simply use a mirror!! I did send an email and have heard nothing back. I regret the money I spent several years ago to buy what was a GREAT mirror until you updated the app. Why did you do that when the old app was working fine?? Now the previously wonderful mirror has to go in the trash. What a waste!
Junk App
I love the mirror however this app is complete junk. It keeps disconnecting from the Wi-Fi and I cannot set up any of the settings in this app. I don’t want it in manual mode it will not come out of manual mode. When I set it to shut off after 10 seconds there is no save button to save your features. I can’t even adjust any lighting at all, none of this works.I also bought the travel mirror and then will not connect to Wi-Fi whatsoever I have done absolutely everything the directions say to do and it will not connect, sending it back! It’s amazing to me how you can charge as much as you do for this equipment but you can’t run a simple app. Fire whoever is running this app and get people who know what they’re doing for the love of God.
This app is horrible
I cannot link my Pro Wide View mirror - unsure why it needs Bluetooth AND Wi-Fi. The attempts to connect to Wi-Fi time out and fail, even though my signal is strong. This connection problem makes a very expensive mirror utterly useless. The light setting it’s stuck on is very low, unable to see anything. There should be at least a single brightness control on the mirror itself. Now my only course of action for this mirror to be helpful is to reach out to customer service. I haven’t had luck with them in the past. I’m beyond frustrated.
Worst app
Seriously simplehuman. Time for a new company to do your app. Did you take away the power button in the app on this latest iteration? For such an expensive mirror, there should be an obvious in-app way to kill the light when I want to. Don’t get me started on connectivity issues. I regret this purchase every time I have to interact with the stupid app.
Garbage
My mirror no longer connects and once upon a time, when it did, it stopped staying lit/connected. I thought I’d try a year later and (obviously) forgot my password. Put in my email and it’s tells me if I have an account I’ll receive an email to rest my password. Easy enough. I get the email, rest my password. The moment I go to log in it says “contact customer support”. Been there, done that. Never got anywhere with them a year ago. I’m not about to waste more time on this. The price for this mirror was insane. No reason in the world there should be this many problem. Once a well respected brand. I see many others now consider this a total waste of time and money as well. This mirror will go in the trash where it belongs. Never again on any of these simple human products.
Why Can’t We Control The Time?!
How can Simple Human charge so much for app based mirrors, yet have such an awful App! And WHY are we so limited in the length of time we are “allowed” to have the mirrors lit? WHO looks in a mirror for 30 seconds?! The last version of the App at least allowed for up to ten minutes. Let the owners control their time. We shouldn’t have to keep waiving our hands in front of finicky sensors, especially at these prices. If we are willing to charge our mirrors more often, so what! In addition … the App constantly crashes! FIX THESE ISSUES or I will not be willing to purchase any more app based products from Simple Human. It IS SIMPLE … invest in an App that works PLEASE!
