Insecure or too secure?

I created an account which forces you to enter a credit card and now I’m trying to get back into the app and it won’t take my password (which it’s only 4-8 alphanumeric characters, so that’s probably why I can’t remember it) - and when I try to click through the “forgot your password” option, it doesn’t find me.I’m pretty positive I’ve now locked my account and there’s no information or contacts for how to unlock the account?!?!Horribly designed app: not at all user friendly and zero customer service.

Great but...

I'm really glad there is app to book Shinkansen now. However, I'm use to apply credit/debit card once I figured out what train I need to buy or at purchase. It will will deter some from using it because they don't have a line of credit. How will this work for international customers?

Very handy

It is a great app that help you book the train ticket without going through the complicated on their website! I’m very satisfied for the whole process of my booking for the Shinkansen!

I do not need a new membership ...

I am already a member of this online registration system (pc version) and have my credit card registered before having this app downloaded. I just wish I could have an option to login using my existing account instead of having to register for a new one. On top of that, it’s not letting me use my credit card even when I tried to sign up for a new account because my credit card has been registered with the pc version already. Also, since there’s no way to sign up for a new account using this app without inputting my credit card information, I basically just cannot use this app unless I have another credit card or have my existing pc version account canceled first and then sign up for a new one using this app. 😭

Functional

I have a 1 star rating earlier. They must have had deprecated links on their old version of the app. After the update, I was able to create account and browse train schedules and pick seats. Still a little clunky feeling but about 1000% better than their website. I like it.

Works perfect after struggling for a few hours

Good app once you get it working. Had to search Google on the issue with USAA cards. Surprise, there is no issue. USAA cards are set up for 3dsecure but you just have to keep attempting the credit card input section until it finally works.

Problematic

If you happen to get a new phone and you forget your password there is no way to re-register the password because of the stupid requirement that it can only be done using the original phone that you had used when you register the first time. What the heck?!?

Easy and Convenient

If you can get past the fact that it wants a credit card up front, the rest of the app is perfect. Really easy to select your train, choose your seat, and boom! ...you’re boarding with your IC card.

Why split into two apps without making both available in the US App Store?

Why did they split this into two apps? One for foreigners visiting Japan and one for people in Japan without making both available in the the us App Store? When I try to login it says, “You cannot use this app with the Membership ID you have entered. Please use EXアプリ which is for people living in Japan”. But EXアプリ isn’t available in the US App Store.
