Works as described on supported radios!

I won’t fault the program for not supporting radios it doesn’t claim to support. I have a 4100A and this app works like a champ. There are many basic functions that I prefer to use by app instead of radio, but don’t expect to be able to do deep menu work by phone, just the stuff basic menu functions. I really like the ability to pull up the map and select repeaters by map. The past contacts are very nice to see on the phone screen instead of just the small radio screen. Yes, I am pleased overall.

No reason for lack of support

It is important that consumers see the lack of customer service and support for reviews. The issue in company’s like icom is it is the leadership who is at fault not the rep or worker. Remember in business it is always top down!! Leadership is always at fault and need removal as supervisor or CEO. Great thing is we can always put our money in your competitors revenue and in time you will need to wake up. Terrible leadership and it shows by these reviews!

IC-705

This app gets some bad reviews. It works for me and has some interesting features. It works with my IC-705. It allows me to send and receive pictures along with view stations and repeaters on the map. I tried the text feature but it did not work. The issue may be because the radio I was attempting to message using the text feature was an IC-9700. Hopefully ICOM will continue to develop and improve this app.

Terrible app - don’t waste your time.

Tried using this with the IC-705.Functionality is extremely limited to things like importing and exporting of repeater lists, etc.Could not get anything to transfer. And it only supports bluetooth. NO WIFI!Attempting to transfer photos to the 705 was useless - crashed every time.

Bluetooth connectivity

I have downloaded the app and tried to pair my iPhone 12 to my Icom ID-52. The phone will find the radio but when you tap connect the radio will not pair with the phone. I’ve tried resetting my phone and radio both. This review will be updated after the problem is corrected!!

Wake up ICOM!

There is nothing in the description that says only for the ID-4100, After an hour of fighting trying to set this up I found in another rating that someone else took the time to rate it with the same problem, It does not work with the ID-5100. How about adding support for the other Icom radios that have DSTAR capabilities!

Works well with my ID-52

No problems so far with my ID-52. Quite surprised actually to have a handheld companion app even if I don’t use it for anything.

Reported a bug with picture crashing the app and they fixed it FAST!

Could not be happier. One of the issues I had with the app is that it would crash when selecting a picture to send. I reported this to Icom US support a couple of weeks ago. Today they released a bug fix for the app that fully fixed the issue. I already love Icom HW but this great service and taking care of my issue earned Icom a customer for life.

Can’t get the app to connect

I paid extra for the Bluetooth card for my ID-4100A and was looking forward to being able to use this app. In spite of triple checking the transceiver settings described in the “instructions”, and in spite of the fact that the app instantly sees the device, whenever I try to actually connect it tries for a few seconds then fails. The instructions go on at length saying that the app may not work on certain phones and certain operating system versions or with other apps installed. Therefore I tried it on two different phones and an iPad and the same thing happens. I have never seen any Bluetooth application fail to work and blame the platform like this. I contacted support and so far have not had a response. It seems clear that the app just needs some attention by the developer to actually work as promised, no excuses.

Useless unless you have a 4100

I was so excited when I saw this software. I spent a lot of money on a 5100. Installed the software and linked my 5100 only to find out that it only works with the 4100. Why doesn't Icom support their older products. I spent extra money to pay for Bluetooth in my 5100 only to find out it doesn't work with IOS. Half of the people in the world use apple devices. Useless.

Device requirements The RS-MS1I operating requirements are as follows: iOS12 or later Usable transceivers (As of Mar 2022) - ID-4100A/E + Bluetooth unit (UT-137) - ID-52 *1 - IC-705 *2 *1 Supported in RS-MS1I Ver.1.1.0 or later. *2 Supported in RS-MS1I Ver.1.2.0 or later. Preparation To use the RS-MS1I with a supported transceiver, you need an optional Bluetooth unit. See your transceiver’s instruction manual for details. Transceiver’s settings Set the following functions as shown below to use the RS-MS1I. [Function] > [CI-V] > [CI-V Transceive]: ON [Bluetooth Set] > [Data Device Set] > [Serial Port Function]: CI-V (Echo back OFF) Note: - The RS-MS1I may not work with all iPhones or iPads, even if they are one of the tested devices. This is because an application program on your device may conflict with the RS-MS1I. - The RS-MS1I may not be used, depending on the OS version, installed application, and so on. - Bluetooth LE is used for the connection with the transceiver, so there may be a time delay between the transceiver’s operation and the display on the iPhone or iPad. - When sending or receiving pictures using “FAST mode,” the headset audio will be temporarily interrupted because of the transceiver’s Bluetooth unit limitations. - You may need to connect to the Internet through a Wireless LAN, a 3G network or an LTE network for some functions. - The RS-MS1I supports only portrait orientation with the iPhone. It does not support Auto Rotate. However, landscape orientation and Auto Rotate are supported with the iPad.
