Exactly what I thought it should be

I love that I can think of an app that will make my life easier and then I search and find it. Well after going to PT for several weeks I thought I should somehow incorporate the exercises in an app along with custom timers, reps, sets, and connect them to each of my issues so I can use it anytime in the future. I first searched Alexa skills and found nothing. Not even something I could make on their new skill builder. How disappointing. I would have loved to hear it on my home theater system with voice control. Next I searched online through 30+ apps and found this one. Exactly what I envisioned and with a few things I never thought about. I’m glad they also have a lite version that includes up to 3 exercises. A perfect amount to test with. My only suggestions would be to change the name to something more universal because this could also be used for working out, yoga, and other recovery therapists. Also their should be an easier way to upload the 3 exercises from lite to the standard version. I’d also like to see a more professional looking format. Just compare to the competition who focuses on the medical field. Also allow video. Overall an excellent buy for just $2.99

great app, but one key feature missing

Love this app, use it twice a day (or nearly), every day. But it's missing one key feature that makes me rate it 4 stars rather than 5... My PT has given me a set of exercises to do each day ... Each one to be done for 15-30 seconds, 2-3 times each morning and evening. So I have set up variants of Exercise 1 which has 2 reps, each 15 seconds, and another which has 3 reps, each 30 seconds ... Now I want to create an "uber-Exercise 1" which says I can do EITHER Variant 1 or Variant 2 ... EITHER variant will give me credit for that exercise. I think this is a very common pattern for PT exercises... I've had various such assigned over the years and they all have this pattern: Exercise 1 AND Exercise 2 AND ... where each Exercise has multiple variants ..So would like to have a feature where I can specify a ROUTINE which consists of the "AND" of all the different exercises, but for each exercise, I can do variant 1 OR variant 2 OR variant 3 ... etc. That way, the reporting would be SUPER useful.. as it is now, not so great ...

PT remembers my exercises for me

I looked at nearly a dozen apps hoping to find one that would guide my through the exercises prescribed by my physical therapist. I looked at habit forming apps and workout apps. I am very glad I happened on PT Timer. After finding PT Timer, I have tried to stay alert to its competition; however, to date I have not found anything as good.I particularly like that it keeps count of reps and sets for me. Once I have all the routines tweaked in the app, I do not have to remember what I am supposed to do. I look at the workout tab and it tells me what is available to do, what is suggested, what I have skipped. I do what I can to turn red arrows to green check marks with the time available. If I have some time during the day that I can use doing my stretches and exercises, I open the app, select a routine, and the app tells me what to do and counts for me.At the end of the day, I can check to see what remains undone and finish them off.I would like to have stronger reporting, but I have not found anything better for leading me through my routines.I have written the develop and always received help within 12 hours.

They thought of everything!

Bravo! Whoever made this clearly spent a lot of time thinking it through b/c it has every feature you could ever need! I use it for stretching my low back and the thing I love is that I can just press play on my "combo"(basically a playlist of all my stretches) and it takes me through all of my stretches with audio cues and I don't even have to look at it. You can customize the overall length of time, the time between reps and time for resting, the type of cues to tell you what to do (you can even record your own voice announcing the name of the stretch), whether or not to have it switch sides, how many reps, how many sets, and you can even upload pictures of your stretches in case you can't remember what to do. This app is absolutely worth the price and has made doing my stretches so much easier!

Very useful app

I spent a day looking for this app and am so glad I found it. I was a little worried about it being abandonware until I found recent responses to reviews. Took a bit of time to figure out how to set up things but once I got the hang of it things went very smoothly and tuning intervals and such has been simple and straightforward. I really like being able to set things up on my iPad and then transfer to my iPhone. The only hitch is that there is no landscape mode for use on tablets. I have an iPad Pro with the Apple keyboard, which means I have to have landscape mode to use it. The rating goes to 5 stars as soon as I can use landscape mode on my iPad to manage the exercises. A step-by-step tutorial showing how to set up different types of exercises (video or text) to supplement the well-done textual descriptions of the screens would be helpful.

Exactly what I need to stay on track

It's surprisingly hard to find an app that fills this niche, but this app does it perfectly. I can easily define exercises in the app with the duration and repetition my therapist prescribed, with text descriptions and photo illustrations, then group the exercises into a tag (e.g. "PT Week 1"), and schedule it to repeat on the prescribed schedule (e.g. Twice a day).At exercise time, it gives me voice prompts along with timing to prepare for each other exercise, start, switch sides, rest, etc. I can easily pause it to review the exercise description and illustration, and when each exercise completes, I can mark how hard it was. All this is then tracked over time, and I can export it all as a CSV for my own analysis later.Oh, and of course, I can play music in the background. And since this is all on my phone, I can stop and do my PT exercises at any place and time with the same level of comfort and convenience.

Best and most flexible and complete app

Great app! Would love it on my Apple watch. That would be awesome. I am going to show, and share with, my PT therapist this app. I have ten routines, and this app makes it so much easier and likely that I will do the routines. I will recommend she create and share routines with all her clients.A bit complicated, but by no means impossible. My routines are complicated and this app simplifies and makes it more likely that I will do them. One review on lite version INCORRECTLY says longest routine is 60 seconds. Try the lite version to see how good this app is. Lite limits to 3 exercises, otherwise the same.

Best App for Exercise Routines

I wish I had found this app years ago. I’ve historically had limited success with physical therapy or rehabilitation exercises because they’re boring, I procrastinate and run out of time, it feels overwhelming, I can’t keep track of when I did what, etc, etc. This app let me take out all the nonsense and just schedule something realistic and finite every day, and easily see when I’m done. I love the ability to send a report of my planned or actual exercises. The user interface is a little quirky at times with menus not exactly where I would expect them, but the learning curve is SO worth it. The developer plans to add the ability to share your exercises and workouts with other people. When this is added, it will be even better. But I already love it so much I can’t give it less than 5 stars.

Extremely customizable!

I have been able to use PT Timer to set up physical therapy, stretching and strength routines, and I feel like I’ve just scratched the surface to its fullest potential! I’m impressed how well thought out this app is, and if you can’t figure something out or think something’s not working correctly or have a feature wish, the developer answers just about immediately! I haven’t experienced customer support to this level in an app before. I also use PT Timer for my yoga asana practice and as a meditation timer. Even as a Pomodoro timer! The possibilities are endless.

Needs an update - great idea - not working

PT timer is a very functional ap for building your own workouts, at your own pace, with clear audio cues. As others have mentioned, a work out app like this is surprisingly hard to find. Clearly there is a need for a highly adjustable, and completely customizable work out routine ap. It’s surprising all of the hundreds of workout apps out there are impossible or so very difficult to customize to one’s own specific routines, timing, and ability levels. Some of the more advanced functions of this ap do not work. For example: Camera function does not work. Audio recording function does not work. This app appears not to have been updated in some time for the new Mac operating systems.
