The updated game is pretty good, but having played the 1.0 version, I have some gripes. This is really a completely rebuilt game with new levels and all. I would have been much happier if this new design was added IN ADDITION to the old levels/design. I put time into those levels, and all that progress is gone now. I'd also enjoy experiencing the old design from time to time, because I liked it better in many ways. My other irritation is at the navigation system. I'm used to a menu of some kind. This only has minimal buttons and a scrolling list of levels. It's very easy to accidentally scroll to another level in the middle of playing. That forces me to scroll back and start my level over. Make it a bit harder to accidentally choose a past level, and add a splash screen & menu system.
Now this is exactly what I want and expect an iPhone game to be. Intuitive. Smart. A Creative concept. Easy to learn. Addictive. Challenging. Cute non abrasive music that isn't annoying. Not over complicated. Functional. Original. And most of all very responsive controls. I want more games like this. (To the Game designers of this app... Please give us additional levels and evolution to the game play. I would really love to see this concept expanded on more and more. It could go allot of places.). Cory enemy
I love this game AND both its versions but it was a huge surprise when I upgraded to the second version and it completely erased the 1st version. Whaddup with that? I liked the bizarre names for the levels in the 1st version, but like the graphics in the second. The moving blocks are confusing but I'm getting the hang of 'em. I've failed to upgrade the game on my iPod Touch to keep the older version alive. I found the author's proslytizing in the "story" of the game awkward, oh well, to each his own.
It takes a true genius to create such an amazing app and be able to conceptualize the physics and 3D in one's mind! To top it off, the developer released this update for both iPad and the iPhone without charging us for separate versions, unlike some other companies that charge the same full price for both the iPad and iPhone versions. The game is fun and feels rewarding when I complete a level. Thank you Mr. D!
I don't usually like puzzle games, but this is complete different kind of a puzzle. Excellent to play on the iPad, I started on the iPhone but since screen is small & the game cube shrinks even more, I just installed on the iPad until I finish all levels with all stars!! I would definitely pay $99 for another 50 levels. *the game keeps telling me to go collect all stars even though I have collected all already. Please update more levels! Dreamer! ;)
Exactly the kind of brain teaser game I like. I like the steady progression of difficulty. Too many other games jump from tutorial to impossible. This is just right. And I love the very straight-forward manipulation of the physical environment. Genius! BTW, I never played version 1 of this, as many others have referenced here, so I'm not qualified to say if this is better or worse in any way compared to that. But I *can* say... This version is awesome! Get it!
Percepto is an exceedingly clever idea for a puzzle game, and it is implemented in an incredibly fun and engaging way. The increase in difficulty as you progress through the levels is very well-balanced; you won't get bored, but you won't give up in frustration either. The recent update to the graphics may divide longtime players, but the inventive and entertaining gameplay still shines.
If I had rated Percepto before the 20th level or so, I would have given it 5 stars. I think this game should have a 'hint' button or a 'skip level' button because some levels are so frustratingly difficult that they are almost impossible to complete. The level of difficulty is completely random, i.e. level 23 was MUCH easier than level 22. Level 25 - completely STUCK so hints would be appreciated!
Why are people saying this game is innovative? It's clearly a clone of EchoChrome. But my low rating is more due to the fact that the game is buggy and the game doesn't explain anything. In regards to being buggy, I'm able to get the character off a block, and then I can't do anything. As for no explanations, it tells you what to do in certain instances, but doesn't tell you why. Also, some things are happening in the UI that are never explained, like the star that constantly fills up. I thought it was a timer, but then why does it refill itself and countdown repeatedly in a game?
While this new Percepto is certainly interesting, I can't help but feel that innovative gameplay and unique aesthetic were traded for modern animation and some silly attempt at "story". Why erase a great game so your sprite can now wear glasses and a t shirt? I put a lot of time into the game I purchased and now all my progress is gone, along with any option to play the original game in the first place. Even if there is an option, I don't know where it'd be with the complete lack of menu system that is now in place. I guess I just want to know why something that was so great needed to be "fixed"?
