App for a country w/o political views like Japan
Uzabase must have had a fundamental lack of understanding of the U.S. before deciding to pay Mr. Bradley $75mil. The app concept works in a country like Japan, where political divide is minimal and journalism is expected to be ”neutral.” In a country where people have real opinions, it serves only a segment of the population at best, and those who understand quality journalism don’t find commentaries by these PRO-labeled amateurs meaningful. There’s a reason why four out of the world’s ten largest newspapers by circulation are Japanese, where WSJ is ranked 15th.
Awesome way of reading news
I like a lot about this app. It’s very user friendly, they show you how to pick feeds and sort them. And reading and feeling included in discussions is really easy to do. If there was one thing I could change it would be easier scrolling through feeds. For example it’s easy to feel like you are scrolling through a hundred articles when you just want to get to sports or something. It would be nice to have tabs representing sections that you prioritize for more convenient maneuvering so to speak.
Different.....
It took me a minute to get use to this app. It is not like other 'news' apps. It really is a concise version of major news apps with insightful interactions from journalist and many people that are like minded. Very well put together. A widget would be a nice addition so that we can take a quick glimpse at what's trending. Also, would like a sound when getting alerts.
I’m addicted! Great App!
I love NewsPicks, the almost endless selection of quality news , the highly intelligent users, and even just the aesthetics of the app itself. I’ve become addicted to getting my mail on NewsPicks everyday. It’s such a great way to start my day, I find that it makes my day more interesting when I’m thinking of the whole Tesla debacle , or thinking about an 100 year old giant clam that was recently found. The user base is friendly. I am often amazed at how this app is filled to the brim with CEOs , writers, Musicians, and even comedians. The whole app has completely changed my day to day, and it deserves to grow and prosper. All in all I’m more than happy with this app, and I strongly recommend it to anyone with an interest in current events. Again, GREAT APP I plan on continuing to use it👍-Croissant King
Another one sided new app
I like the idea of the app and it’s design, unfortunately there is a definite bias, promoting the liberal point of view. The news sites that support this view figure prominently, this appears to come from the editors and supported by the viewers. A suggestion to fix this is allow us to block stories, individual commentators, or even particular editors. If this is instituted I will try the app again. Simply allowing us to design a news feed of thing we like is not enough.Response to developer note: When I click on the three dots I have two options, open in Safari or copy link. Perhaps you need to sign in using email or social network to have this feature work.
Good, definitely some what one sided.
There is a definite bias which I dont think could be attributed to the creators per se, but the rating system of commenters kind of allows a majority rule over the app. It is good they have allowed to block certain commenters, however. I dont think its very productive to not allow replies in that it does not allow any discussion or debate over certain view points and just allows the most popular comments to be shown with no rebuttals.
Thought I’d found a neutral news source...
I downloaded this app when I read the comments are monitored. I was tired of partisan name calling and non-reflective thinking. I’ve missed the intelligent conversations since Andrew Sullivan closed down the Daily Dish. I also wanted to read about something other than Trump’s latest act of crazy. But I’ve got to exit when there’s so little attention to the glaring news that the President of the U.S. has been implicated in a criminal act and there’s a sort of la-de-da, non headline status about it. I can get that from FOX News. Let me know when your biases keep you from reporting what every other news source around the world knows is destabilizing headline news.
A different type of news app.
Very cool app for news consumers such as myself. I watch and read EVERYTHING that’s floats down the proverbial propaganda pike - just to see what goes on across all networks. That can be exceptionally exhausting, so it’s nice to have some stories picked/ curated to read - and to hear opinions without getting into an all out battle with my friends or family on Facebook.

I have (should say had) CNBC, CNN, NBC local, Reuters. I have deleted ALL of them and replaced with NewsPicks. Very intuitive choices to customize your newsfeed by topic, person, and read their comments in a user friendly format. Simple, elegant, customizable in the right way , very good user interface
Great way to get the news
This app has become my go to for all of my news. It has quickly overtaken Facebook as my first-opened app. The app developers have worked tirelessly to create and maintain an atmosphere that promotes intelligent and respectful reflection and conversation. I would highly suggest downloading this app!
