Novice Birder

I am new to birding. I love the app. It would be amazing to have calls be part of the quiz. I have it only three stars because I would like the option to be more region specific in the birds you are being quizzed on.

Too easy

It’s a bird quiz. Each photo has four choices. For example, you’re testing yourself on parrots. In each case only one of your four choices is actually a parrot. The other three choices are completely unrelated birds. Too easy.

To make it better

There are several things the developers could do to make this better: align the pictures so they aren’t cut off. About a third of the pix are zoomed in so the bird’s head is cut off, etc. Also, it is easy to guess the birds name bc there is only 1 choice in that bird family. If you are looking at a finch, and the other options are dove, parrot and hummingbird, the right answer is too obvious. It would be nice if there were a review feature, and more info about the bird families as well as the individual birds.

Quizzes are functional, but photos need work

The quizzes are functional, and I don’t mind watching advertisements in between the questions. It runs smoothly and worked fine. The major problem is with the photos. About a fifth of the photos are cropped weird or aren’t even pictures of the bird (one was just a picture of some crabs?) I’m not sure if they even have the rights to all their photos. A majority of them are watermarked, some of the watermarks covering a majority of the bird. Good play if you don’t care that much and just want to take some quizzes. There are a lot of quizzes you have to purchase.

Why do you have to pay for the cool birds!

That is so unfair, most of my favorites are the ones you have to pay for! I’m going to delete it! Although I don’t mean to make it sound all bad.

So fun

I love birds I love to quiz to see if the can name the bird I show them, but this app allows me to quiz myself and learn more about birds.I own a bird and that’s what made love birds, thank you for making this app, it’s super fun and super calming.

Too stupid for anyone who has seen a bird

Offers you several photos of birds, where the bird is sometimes half out of the shot and is sometimes clearly not the same bird as the photo before, and four entirely disparate types of bird names to choose from which might identify the bird. A type of finch might have: trumpeter swan, fish crow, lesser goldfinch, and American robin. Now, is that really a quiz on identification of finches or just identifying which of those is a finch name? Anyone in their right mind would restrict the answer choices to a similar category as the correct answer. They might as well have included “whole wheat bread”, “George W. Bush”, and “beluga whale” as the other choices. 🙄

Not helpful

You can’t choose a region so you get random bird from all over the world. I want to use this app to learn my local species better. This isn’t helpful.

Tropical birds included

I was expecting more birds common to the U. S. A., instead of the tropical birds of Central America & Mexico. Also some of the photos like the Crested Quail Dove were not identifiable (in this case because the photos are of the same under developed fledgling). Although I must say it was easy to guess the name of the bird by a process of illumination.

Has potential, but needs work

This game is a lot of fun, but it needs some work. The interface needs some, but the photos need the most. The framing/cropping on a lot of photos make the bird difficult to see, and one photo I've come across actually had the bird's name right on it.So, this game is a lot of fun, and I'm going to continue playing it, but it feels like a first draft. I'm sure that a polished version will be fantastic.
