User Reviews for MindPal - Brain Training Games

Great app to give brain a workout

As I have been getting older I have noticed my memory is not as it once was. I saw this app and gave it a try. It has several different “games” that rotate through the daily workouts. None of the tasks require any specialized knowledge. There are logic puzzles, memory puzzles, simple math (+, -, /, and *), and others. The free version let’s you play 3 different games. The paid version will give you 2 more. I am using the free version so I don’t know if the paid version just gives you 2 more of the same games in the rotation or has games not available in the free version. To play 3 games only takes a few minutes so it allows a quick workout. The other good thing is there a very few ads in the free version and are not long. I have enjoyed it thus far. I suggest giving the free version a spin but play several days so you can see the various games.

I’m writing this app to unlock a new level, but what I’m saying I mean

I never leave reviews. Well, that’s an overstatement. I seldom leave reviews and when I do a product is either super terrible or really good. This app is the latter. Most ‘brain game’ apps get lost in the abyss of all my other similar applications and repetitive notifications. But this one I like, the games are fun and challenging. They aren’t monotonous, you get a choice on what game you want to play according to what area you want to work on. Even with the free version. I haven’t purchased the upgrade yet, but I know I will in the future because I believe it’s worth it. I can actually see my improvement in certain areas which makes me want to continue with my progress. The reminders are consistent and non intrusive. Definitely worth the 5 stars.

Refer-able App!

I never talk about the apps I use for pleasure/leisure mainly because I mean who cares. But if in a conversation with someone who tells me they like mind helping games I always suggest this app. I came on to see if there’s a free trial period for new users but found the reviews and decided I should share with whoever cares! It’s a really great app. They have plenty of games to where it doesn’t feel so repetitive. They track your progress as you become stronger at each it’s rewarding. Tracks you as you do it daily. I’ve only gotten off track a few times, but each time I was devastated! It’s usually because someone calls and I forget to finish my daily 5. Boy it stings! So somehow they’ve kept me wanting more! I love that they offer wordle from New York Times which also leads to some of their free games (or you can subscribe to them as well) I loooooove connections on that. On mind pal my faves are match pairs, grammar, slicer & one line. Only game I always pass on is the speed reading I don’t find that enjoyable. Anyway for anyone who cares!!!

incredible - can't wait to see improvements

I think the stats can be somewhat misleading if you're trying to compare your performance to the average user - remember that mindpal uses the results of other users but the mindpal demographic isn't necessarily representative of the overall population. i think it'd be great to see if mind pal could do a control group test so users can compare their results to the average person's performance, not just other users. Another great touch would be if the app could offer more information on the aspects it measures - like flexibility or speed. if users could have an evaluation of their performance and a quick explanation of what each aspect actually means it'd add a really nice personal touch. this is a great app if you want to train those brain muscles and i can already see myself learning a lot from this as someone with adhd, but i hope they continue improving their scientific measurements and offer more of a personal evaluation for users ! :)

I love it and hate it at the same time

1 can't stop playing this game. Initially, I didn't want to spend the money on it but got tired of looking at ads. (At least I think this game had ads. I've tried several. This is the only one I now pay for.) I also got tired of not being able to play the other three tiers in the daily prompt. Then, one day, I was able to unlock one if I followed them in Instagram. (Clever foxes!) And that's how they got me. So I finally said, Fine! I'll pay for it for ONE year and cancel if I don't enjoy it. For now, do I ever enjoy it. I spend far, far too much time playing. And whodathunk a game where you simply have to find three matching numbers or letters would be so darn hard AND therefore addictive? Good lord, do I ever waste hours trying to do that one. And the one where you spell words out of shuffled letters? Forget about it. I've given up bathing, eating, brushing my teeth; myHelpfulNot HelpfulReport a Concern

FRAUD. ILLEGAL PRACTICES. CORRUPTION.

I was testing this app that was not supposed to start until tomorrow April 19th. Even though I liked the app, I had done every single game and got intermediate to advanced on every single one of them. I figured I was done with it as it didn’t provide anything else, so I was planning to cancel it before it renewed tomorrow. And guess what, Apple illegally and fraudulently stole the money from my account the day before and before I could cancel the subscription. Now it takes 48 for a review and for them to decide whether they’ll reimburse me my own money which they took without my permission. And then up to 30 days before I’ll see it back in my account. This warrants for a class action lawsuit. It’s clear they do this every single day with people’s money, using funds that they steal before subscriptions are supposed to renew, and taking their sweet time to return it. And that is for the people who pay attention. Many will not even see that Apple stole their money and will never request it back. There’s definitely a class action lawsuit here.

Best app for kids

My daughter and I have both been using MindPal and it’s incredible! It teaches my daughter to be able to put together words with the letters scrambled up, memorize the place of things, point out bad grammar, and the notification that comes up at (the time you choose) that you can turn on and off in “profile” helps remind her to do her brain workout of the day! You may not believe me, so let your child use MindPal for a week and you can check how well their doing in which category when you tap “status”. I will warn you though, when your child used MindPal for almost a week, you will need to pay a bit of money for your child to reach the end of their brain workout but no matter how much money they charge, I promise you it’s worth it!

Everything they say

Granted, science still backs the fact that mind sharpening while using an app DOES NOT work. Exercise, sleep and good diet help in developing a sharp mind and increase chances of developing far longer. But that’s not why I paid for this app. I did it to keep myself busy. That said, there’s annoying things that can be improved. Like having to watch a segmented 5 part circle being filled in after each game, showing progress. Even when they give you a button to “skip this” it’s useless in what it skips. Why 3 stars? It’s an okay app. But it is limited in the games offered and the speed and agility you can attain, then it’s just repetitive. On their speed reading, even some of their facts are incorrect when you have to recall an answer after reading at 500 words a minute. But I give it a passing grade in hopes it will be expanded. So far it hasn’t.

Awesome And Actually Works Well

I’ve only had this app for two days now but I already really like it. I like that it sets a goal of five mind workouts a day but also let’s you do the ones you’ve already done some more. A lot of the time I’m on an app and I feel like I have to keep going but then I look at the clock and I’ve been on it for an hour. This game is different. I can stop after I meet my goal for the day. I also like the quick instructions so you know how to play without having to read a who five paragraphs. It is nice to come home after a long day and just take a quick break and do mind puzzles. The puzzles are also not too hard and not too easy. They also tell you why the correct answer is correct. Lastly, the adds. I realize I’ve only been on it two days but I’ve only seen two adds so far. When I do experience an add it is short and the x appears almost immediately. I have the free version and I feel like the limits are reasonable. There are free games of the week and you can play the ones you’ve done in you mind workouts. I think this game is very great.

Fun overall

Overall, the games are fun. They’re challenging, and I like seeing how I’ve improved and how I compare to others. There are a couple of games that are unfair and should be removed. Slicer is extremely glitchy. There have been numerous times when the line made it to both sides before the ball hit it, but I got the red x anyway. There’s also no problem solving involved, since the balls don’t follow any sort of pattern, and they change speeds for no reason. Pop Sum is another one. It should at least tell you how many numbers you need to press to get to the correct sum, since sometimes it’s 2 and sometimes it’s 3. I get 3 stars on this game, but my percentile is low (probably because people are using a separate calculator, but I’m not a cheater. I expect this is the case because my percentiles are high on other math games, so it’s not like other users are doing well on the other math games). I’ve been swapping these games lately. My stats shouldn’t decrease because of two flawed games.
