The app doesn’t have an interactive map like other museum apps. The design is pleasing but the content and navigation is very confusing. The button “met tours” is visible in many pages and yet when clicked on it leads to what seems like a third party site with different (and less appealing) visual design. It’s a shame that such a big museum like the Met has an app that is lacking in many aspects.
First I typed wallpaper of New York Then few days I looked at it lost in pages confused of what it actually was doing, even if it was a travel tour help from New York, 2 days later I try to reset my iPhone and it was stuck, a day later I received an email from apple actually asking if I downloaded this program if not to reset my password, this program seems to read all info on your phone, privacy statement is hidden, it should be removed from App Store
I enjoyed so much exploring the MET museum with this app. It really gave my husband and I the details we needed or the overall of the visit but also about the main art pieces that we wanted to see. I definitely recommend this app 😃
I’ve been to the MET several times now and this travel guide has always been very helpful. The list of paintings was definitely a must see for my first visit. I even bought a helicopter tour to NYC from the app at it was breathtaking. I highly recommend!
I downloaded this thinking it had information about the permanent collection and possibly temporary collections, but it just seems like it has links selling tour tickets (to a museum where you only need to give a donation of your chosen amount to enter). If you want to buy a tour, you’d be better off just doing an internet search.
The map/floor plan isn’t really helpful as it does not list the gallery numbers, nor does it show the different floors. The information on The Met’s permanent collections is very good, but should include which galleries they are in. For example, I didn’t know about the musical instruments collection, but now I’ll have to ask where to find it (which defeats the purpose of downloading an app that’s supposed to allow me to do it on my own).
The MET is one of the most impressive museums of all times. Every time I arrive to New York I make sure I reserve some tome to go visit this museum. I dont recall how many times Ive been in the MET, but cant get tired of it. This app is free and gives you a very good overview of the museum. You should try it, nothing to lose. Also in this new update you can store your vouchers within the app if you are planning an activity in New York. I downloaded the content for the city of new york also and it is neat! Very well. I personally like this app.
Went to see the costume exhibit last week. Besides having beautifulclothes, the concept of long ago gowns being inspiration for designers was brilliant. Unfortunately wasn’t able previously to get into the Jacob Lawrence exhibit. So sorry to have missed it. Tip: The Met’s information about ordering entry tickets should mention that the coat checks are closed. Not pleasant to carry big umbrellas or totes around unnecessarily.
I’ve downloaded some very good museum apps which works like your personal guide while in the museum. They have maps and pictures and detailed explanations of the art items. I was expecting the same from MET app but only to find it had nothing in it! If you are in the museum which means you have already paid for the entrance, why should not you have a guided app for free? If you are not yet in the museum, the museum then has more reasons to offer a free app to boost an interest for people to go to the museum. Do not download it unless it has the content, for free!
No wonder eTip is paying to get sponsored positions on the App Store. This "free" app, like all eTip apps I have downloaded, does almost nothing until you unlock In-App purchases. And eTips is always saying "You Need to Download Maps", which snarkily leads you to their in-App purchases. Also, App only works in Landscape mode which makes the text lines ridiculously long, and not how text copy should appear.
