Clean, very accessible
I have used Metatext for the last month in beta prior to the release. It has quickly become my favorite client for Mastodon/the fediverse.It puts a strong focus on usability and accessibility - no unnecessary animations, everything looks very normal (with usefully arranged controls wherever possible), image descriptions are easy to write and read, and it doesn’t lose your scroll state. A supremely useful app that gets out of the way & lets you interact with the sweetest folks on quirky social networks, your way.
By far the best Mastodon client I've used
It's surprisingly hard to find a Mastodon client that supports image descriptions on iOS. Metatext supports them, and it's wonderful on top of that. Everything works as expected- filters, content warnings, image descriptions, feeds/timelines, etc. The interface is clean and easy to understand, and there's no unnecessary fuss. The content takes center stage. The respect of privacy is also highly appreciated- thank you for both that and making it open source. Free apps that do either and are good quality are hard to find on the iOS store.All around a fantastic client.
This is a great federated/mastodon client.
A couple things could make it even better. Especially for us pixelfed people. Allow images to autoheight, instead of the forced 16x9 preview (maybe an option). Image collections would be better in a swipe through preview instead of the grid. Following users didn’t seem to show up for me anywhere. Searching a second time didn’t seem to work
Finally found a good one!
Finally found a good mastodon client for IOS! This app is fantastic and actually makes sense in comparison to other clients available. It’s clean, fast, makes sense and doesn’t have a lot of unnecessary bloat. Not to mention it is not missing the home/local timeline. :D Update: Minus a star for now. Weird bug with custom emoji covering text in a lot of places…Update 2: It has been fixed!
A pleasure to use
I’ve been using Metatext for a while and what I really like about it is I have no complaints. Clean and logical design that always works whether I’m posting a two word text update or a super long post with images and video and links to other Mastodon users. Conversations are threaded in a way that’s super easy to understand. And it’s just nice to have such a beautiful user experience that’s private and secure. Love it and I’m curious to see how things develop with each update because each time it just seems to be getting better and better.
A delight
Mastodon is already a friendlier, more enjoyable experience than competitors that try to tell you what you like, and Metatext is the best way to experience the future of social media. The app works, it's fast, and the features are exactly where you'd expect them to be.
Instantly Loved It
This is the app to get if you’re coming from Twitter. I saw other Mastodon apps on here, they’re okay, the free ones are alright. They’re usable. This app Metatext looks beautiful. It feels smooth. Other free Mastodon apps are fine, but this one goes above and beyond in terms of looks and feel. This app seems to get updates too, I’ve seen other apps that haven’t been updated in half a year to a whole year. Thank you for making this, devs!
Great App, with only a single annoyance
Love this app, its a Swiss Army Knife. The only problem I have is it will not post photos in the correct orientation when taking it in the app and sometimes even when using a preexisting photo. There doesnt seem to be a way to fix it either. I dont take many photos personally, but id love to find a way around it.

Best Mastodon app!I’ve been using Metatext since I stumbled upon it on Twitter before release (TestFlight). I may not use Mastodon as much as I would like, but Metatext has always been ease of use and clean.Lastly, I want to applaud 👏 the devs. When I made a suggestion they implemented it quick and responded to me. That’s great stuff, keep it up!!
Great overall but…
It’s the best looking mastodon app I’ve used so far, but it still bothers me with some minor issues, first was it seems couldn’t remember the view location of the last time when it’s being closed, so when I open it after a while and will just load the latest toots, not ideal. And then when it does open at the last time it’s being closed, it would only get so few toots that I need to tab “load more” every 10 toots or so, quite annoying. Would love to see some fix on those, cuz it really works pretty great otherwise.
