Not bad!

I’m SO glad that there’s finally an app of some sort that can keep me connected in SL while I’m on the go! I always miss spending time with my friends due to work and differing time zones so this is a big help! So far, no crashes or freezes! I love that you can see both local chat and IM’s. You can also teleport to other regions, walk, and even use your inventory and interact with other items and furniture like you would inworld. My few complaints (updated since my last review) would be the inventory. I wish that there was a current outfit tab so that I can see all that I have on. Also, the app seems to be having some connection issues. It keeps saying that there’s no Internet available despite my connection being just fine. Lastly, for some reason, when I login using the app, it removes all of my clothing and hair from my avatar. (Tested it on an alt) Other than those issues, I love the app and really hope to see it get updated as time goes on!

Unusable

Used to work just fine but now I experience nonstop crashing with the recent updates and have given up on using the app altogether. Hopefully one day a mobile version of SL will be possible, thanks for giving it a try!

Disappointed really.

This app has been around for years now for IPhone. You’d think after being here years, they would finally get it right and make a good version by now. This app has the same problems as it did in 2017 when I last had a iPhone ( yeah got the iPhone 12 pro max). The same exact problems, lots of random crashes, forced log offs and especially if you have a different app opened. The friends list hasn’t bugged out just yet but I’m sure they will soon. The app dinging notification still does not work when having the app running in the background or when off. The list goes on and years later it’s the same thing. The developer has a chance to jump ahead of linden labs and is not going to be ahead when LL gets their own app into the app shop probably before 2021 ends. Anyhow I don’t want to hate, this is the only SL app for iPhone since sparkle has been long gone. Still I can’t help to be disappointed. Hire someone to help you. With that all said I appreciate you having this app available but I question what’s the point if it’s just gonna kick me off.

Works fine, does what’s advertised

Easier to use than MetaVerse was, and has more functionality. I have had no issues with crashing etc that others have described. Perfect for chatting and reading notecards. Works well with iPhone. It does what it says it does. That’s all I ask from an app.

Functional but disappointing

I expected more. When I use this app I am expecting it to crash at any moment. I’m not positive that I get all of my messages either.

Does everything it says it does

Nice app. Read the description and you will see all it can do. Great for keeping in touch when away. I used to use Metaverse and this has actually improved upon it. I hope that a future upgrade will give us the ability to open our own profile and edit it. That would boost my rating up one notch. 😊

Thank you for parcel music! Need to be able to IM non-friends...

Thank you for the update to add parcel music, it’s a small detail but one I missed from the old app. I am also impressed by the ability to see textures in inventory, this actually was convenient for a customer issue I had recently. I’m puzzled at how to chat or IM with someone not on my friends list, though. How is it done? I found the button to search for other avatars, and I got a namelist, but clicking on the person’s name did nothing when I was on my iPhone just now. I will try again with the iPad and see if it’s any different.Wow! And landscape mode is working on the iPad! This makes typing a quick IM or group message so easy, as I use an external keyboard. Thank you so much!

Good start; much, doesn’t work (details below)

Battery burner: it would be very nice if it would work in the background; rather, logs one out.IMs: A friend can successfully send a message to this app, but a reply from, from it, is not received for upward of 1 hour. I tested this between my PC and smart phone, to be certain. Transfers: I tried sending inventory item between my two accounts (smartphone to PC & vice versa) & was unsuccessful. LMs do, transfer. World Map will not load, apparently, except for tiny map in one corner. ‘Loading…’ never goes away. TP?: Seems, there’s no way to teleport; one is bound to their last location chosen from other app(s). In my humble opinion, the above listed would be, quite possibly, of critical importance. Good start, however. 😉

Thanks!! About time we have a sl viewer

I have been using metaverse for years and with iOS 11 it was killed off and removed from past history. This apple is still a bit rough around the edges, but in my opinion seems more stable than metaverse has been in years. You can view profiles, send tps, chat with bubbles like iOS. Even the rl tab shows profile pictures there. As long as development continues it show be a great product

Accessibility issues

I am a blind user who uses the built in VoiceOver on the iOS system. Used to, this application was more accessible to me when using in conjunction with VoiceOver. I took a hiatus from Second Life and this application and when I attempted to get back inworld with this application, no can do. This application has a great potential when it is accessible to the blind and visually impaired as well as everyone else. I just redownloaded the application today after deleting it about a month ago - very little accessibility.

MetaChat is a text-only viewer for all Virtual Worlds based on the OpenSimulator/SecondLife© software for 3D worlds. This is no mobileSL/OpenSim, it is a viewer for mobile devices but it has the same system requirements than any other viewer.
