iPad version no features

While this is a great app, I’m disappointed in the fact that the one I have on my phone doesn’t have the same capabilities as on my iPhone. If I want to send a pic, voice message or video call, I have to do it on my iPhone. I can only view & hear messages already posted as long as my phone is near by, which I find odd. That’s the only reason I’m not giving it full 5 stars.

Useful app

Updated review: with more time with this, and apparently thanks to some updates, it seems to be working better. Since WhatsApp doesn’t have an app for the iPad, this app is a workaround, but it’s dependent on your having your phone nearby. That means there’s a lag when bringing it up while it gets your WhatsApp chats, maybe 30 seconds, but then you can read the chats and respond. So after my earlier (see below) disappointment, I’ve found this app to be useful, and I’m grateful for this.——-I use WhatsApp on my iPhone and MacBook, and have been feeling the need for it on my iPad. This app looks a lot like the real WhatsApp, I appreciate that it’s free, and don’t really mind the ads....but: Any time you switch to the app from another app, wait a while, see ads for Facebook shaking back and forth in an annoying manner, and wait some more until your list of chats comes up. Then you click on that chat and wait to see messages. And wait. And wait. I tried to time it for this review, and gave up after 3 minutes. It’s like the old days of dial-up modems. Apparently, whatsapp can’t be accessed on a web browser from my iPad, either. So I guess I’ll just keep using my iPhone and MacBook to check in with What’sApp.

The Great Communicator

Love every feature of this App. I like to see if my message has been read. Perfect!Also the ability to see if your party is online. Great features.Although, I wish you could disconnect to “return” key on the keyboard. I find myself typing and hitting return and my incomplete message is transmitted. Remove this fact and make it so the person must press the arrow only to transmit, NOT the return.

Good app with some weakness

Using it to prepare if WeChat will be finally shut down. It’s working smoothly so far and group function goes well. The main issue is the desktop and iPad versions cannot work independently so I should always keep my cellphone connected which causes some storage problem to me. Is it so difficult for Facebook to improve it like Tencent did? In addition, no visual notifications for the new messages.

Getting Better

Good program but slow to load. Other like programs load almost instantly on WiFi. I like that it is private and it is encrypted but so far I have it on my phone and ipad and they do not relate well nor synch very well. This program has lots of potential, just hoping they will continue to improve it. Messenger is instant when u open it and it synchs between my ipad and iPhone right away. Would also like the opportunity for others to add people to a group chat rather than just the lead person. I am sure they will add all of these things as they broaden it but right now in the US, messenger is still to beat.

A Handy Workaround for a needless limitation

When it works, this app is OK. The periodic need to reconnect with the help of a phone is seriously annoying. It’s not that I don't appreciate the developer's work, but that I'm permanently irked at Meta for not giving us a proper app themselves. It’s almost as if they don't care about their users. Oh, that's right, they don't. In the meantime, thanks to this app's developer for giving iPad users a more expansive window on WhatsApp, filling a gap Meta has blithely ignored for years.

Not Quite There Yet, But Trying

I love WhatsApp for my phone, so l was thrilled to find an app compatible with my iPad. I am a little less thrilled now, after downloading and using this app for a while. It is slow. It frequently has to retrieve messages, a process that is slow and makes using the app less appealing. I am still glad to be able to use my iPad, but l hope the app will become smoother and more reliable i. The future.

Best of Limited Options for iPad

Since WhatsApp does not offer an app for iPad, there are few options for stand-in alternatives. This is the least bad of those. I wait and wait for it to load. I have to shut it down and try again multiple times before it finally populates my chats. Sometimes it fails to send messages and I have to start all over again. When it works, it is fine, and I am grateful. I have deleted and reinstalled the app but I still have the same performance issues.

Wonderful solution on communications.

Locally where I live, nearby Bogota, Colombia, the communication service of all types: internet, telephone, e-mails is quite poor (although Claro - the local communication services company states the contrary). Also, the power supply is quite erratic, so, most of the time the cel phone has no service and/or proper connectivity. Have been using Messenger for WhatsApp and I am surprised how this tool has been a key factor in solving the problems I have been facing.
