DMV handles your License NOT Mentor

I am really disappointed in the app, but at the same time if I want to be a better driver. The app is too sensitive in some cases, if you keep your foot on the pedal and you’re going 65 then you’re going up in Mountain high keep your foot on the pedal then the engine size to stay with your 65 and the RPM scores over that’s considered speeding. Reversing you can’t avoid reversing, I can’t see were you can’t reverse in a safe matter and get dinged for it what does it make sense. If I don’t use my phone while I’m driving and I take a break and I’ll start and this is over 30 minutes how is it possible that I’m using my phone while I’m driving. I don’t get how place of employment trust this app over the employee. I can seeThat all employees are not the same but trying to keep a score of 800 and above and believe me I do have patients took my time. I think it shouldn’t cost of your job and they should lower the score to 750. If you dispute they really don’t care

Big Brother is watching

This is a terrible app that is very likely a violation of privacy for those that are compelled to use it for their jobs (delivery drivers for a company named after a large river in South America). The app doesn’t work properly unless you “allow” it to access your phone at all times, even though you are told it’s only assessing your driving when you’re working. DOES ANYONE ACTUALLY BELIEVE THAT??The app monitors your driving habits, even when you’re not driving. Yes, read that again. I was penalized for using my phone while I was on my lunch break, and while I was in the vehicle, the vehicle had not been moving for over 10 minutes at the time. If the app can monitor your acceleration, braking, turning, etc., surely it can tell when you’re NOT GOING ANYWHERE! This is absurd!I should note that my driving score is consistently 850. I’m assessed as an excellent driver, and I still think this app is GARBAGE.

Trash doesn’t even come close to describing this app

The most nonsense app in existence. Gives you zero feedback as to what you’re doing wrong, so there’s no means to actually improve on your score and what you’re “doing wrong”. Theres zero warning or sounds to give you any sort of heads up that you’re breaking one of the rules, so there’s absolutely zero adjustment period to trying and understand the app anf what it excepts. It’s just a hope and a prayer that while you’re driving for hours on end that you’re following the most vague and mystical rules that are ementor. There’s no place you can read up on what quantifies as “hard acceleration” and it gives zero regard for other drivers on the road. If you’re pulling out of a driveway on a hill and cannot see any on coming traffic, welp just keep on accelerating at snail speed, so your score isn’t hurt. And just hope and pray the guy YOU just pulled out in front of slows down or passes you. Because according to this trash app, that’s good driving, because you didn’t accelerate too quickly. 👍🏼 oh and if some thing jumps out in front of you, definitely don’t instantly break, because you’re a bad breaker then.

Hmm

So after studying how mentor works via emailing support, and using the FAQS section. This app is hardly a hindrance while delivering wether I’m in the mountains or gravel roads or icy roads. I’m always at 850. I’ve even used different phone from apple’s iPhone 11 Pro Max, iPhone 8, galaxy s20, galaxy note, the Samsung a20, old caterpillar phones. Once you understand the ins and outs of the app getting 850 is a walk in the park and no you don’t have to drive like a grandma just drive the speed limit. Not gonna lie a lot of people are just terrible drivers without you guys knowing, getting an 850 and finishing a route faster than the allotted time is not a problem on a daily. I work 6 days a week and get 850. Just check your driving habits and don’t let your ego get in the way of that. JUST HAVE PAITENCE!

Inaccurate and they don’t care

It’s absolutely terrible that this company doesn’t even try to figure out what’s going on, they just respond to feedback with scripted responses. The worst part is that some DSP’s like mine take this stuff seriously and it affects my rating and scheduling as well as bonuses. At first I was driving myself crazy trying to figure out what it was that I was doing wrong. When they respond, they act as if their program is flawless and incapable of making mistakes and instead say that it’s something to do with the telematics device in the van which is the DSP’s problem not theirs. I recommend that you install a camera with a time stamp facing the phone so that there is proof that what they say is happening isn’t happening. It wasn’t until I did this that I was finally able to verify that a lot of these hits aren’t real. They need to start taking responsibility for glitches in their software because people are having to pay for it. Some of us loose out on opportunity to make more money because of this. If there is a law suit I’m all in! It’s not fair to be punished for something that isn’t happening. I’m only referring to those instances where the hits aren’t legitimate. If the phone is being touched or driving is actually erratic then by all means yes! But if it’s not... then it’s not right.

I’m sure nothing will change, but why not?

I’ve been a driver for 8 months now. I can attest this app doesn’t actually make you drive safe. It, to its core, is a beleaguering mess almost expressly meant unfairly to rob you of any benefits. (The big company named after the river in Brazil) should drop this. The scoring system is haggard beyond believe. There are times where in a full days work I was tacked with a whooping 13 infractions (no speeding) and received 3 stars, while one day I got just 4 (again no speeding) and was slammed with a 1 star rating (just like all your the reviews for this app). This company is desperately asking for a lawsuit, you are toying with peoples jobs and this is serious. Clearly Mentor are either oblivious, malicious, or apathetic. I think it’s a fantastic idea to have the CEO of mentor try and complete a route and end up without any infractions, and see how it turns out. Alas, writing this was a huge waste of time (mainly venting) I expect nothing to change and for this company to completely step all over driver’s necks for the foreseeable future. I recommend working for a competitor, a shame because I happened to actually kind of like this job, oh well. Good day.

Responsibility

I have never been a delivery driver in my life, nor have I driven an extended cargo van. I have been able to hold a perfect 850 driving score with ease. Coming from a teaching background, almost all these reviews are placing driver error on the app. Sure, I’m sure there are some instances where a sensor is tripped accidentally, as it has happened to me. It has logged a seat belt violation once when I never even turn the engine on without already being buckled. It’s logged a phone manipulation as I have gone slowly over some rough terrain. The point is, the amount of errors that can be associated to the app is so minuscule, it should not significantly affect your driving score. Slow down, anticipate traffic and turning, take your time accelerating, BE RESPONSIBLE! I drive in very hilly terrain and the RPM often goes well over 3,000 RPM and I haven’t received a single hard acceleration. Take your job seriously and be safe! You should not drive whatever vehicle you operate at work like your personal one.

Inaccurate data will cost us our jobs

Perhaps the creator of this app should be sued . I agree with the person about people jumping in front of you last minute .. that causes you to break hard no? Maybe instead of breaking hard we should just blow into the person that gets in front of us instead of avoiding an accident. Also agree about the rpms going over 3000 and you get hit .. on my route I have to go up so steep hills and guess what as soon as that transmission down shifts to climb the hill I’m losing points !! And let me tell you after the app update it’s gotten worse ! This week alone I’ve gone from 813 to 755!!! This app has given me nightmares! That’s the first thing I check in the morning before work ! Wondering if I’ll have a job from inaccuracy! You have one average day and lose 40 points ! This app is a joke ! I have drive sense with esurance running on my phone and gets a total different reading ! Stop causing people stress and job loss and fix your app ! Because one day you will get sued

Faulty app.

Getting marked for hard braking or acceleration is a joke. These vans a decent acceleration made so you can get up to speed on highways and so on if needed. What this app does is cause fear. Let me say that again. THIS APP CAUSES FEAR. I’m constantly scared that I may brake too hard if someone cuts me off or some hazard appears in front of me. I’m constantly afraid to step on the gas and get up to speed on roads with oncoming traffic because of getting marked down for hard acceleration. I risk getting in accidents because of the way this app forces me to drive is how I feel. I should be able to pull out on a highway and use a normal amount of acceleration to get up to speed. Who knows what where you cross the line? I certainly don’t know where the line is drawn. I drive the van all day scared. You can get fired for low scores. Another thing, I can’t touch the phone device at all while moving in the van. One touch and you get marked down. We need a separate device, perhaps something built in to the van. Not a single phone to use for navigation and this ignorant app. Or company provides some extra devices but not enough for everyone. I can’t wait for this app to get sued and get scrapped. We need some kind of warning to pop up so we can learn what is hard braking. Some kind of meter we can see. What is hard acceleration.. what is too much? Where is the line drawn? We don’t know. I’m certainly tired of dealing with this bull..

Deserves Negative Stars

Doubt anyone who actually works here reads this and all the responses are automated. But if there’s a chance this is a real human reading, just know your app is immoral and affecting how we are all paid. I’m looking forward to lawsuits against your company. Heads up for anyone new to this app, it just detects hard cornering, hard acceleration, hard braking, and speeding. So it DOES NOT detect how other people are driving. Someone brake hard in front of you? Tough luck you got hard braking and are out of incentive pay, goodbye score. Someone brake hard and you have the ability to avoid an accident by turning away from them? Tough luck you just got hard cornering, and probably acceleration, goodbye FICO score. Someone not paying attention behind you and is tailgating/ speeding/ about to rear end you? Congrats, you just got hard acceleration/ speeding and lost out on potentially hours of pay. Everyone who works at Mentor, get a real job. Also, increasing our FICO score does not make us “safer drivers”, it literally just increases a score that you made up the metrics for. Stop using that as an excuse for keeping this app alive, it’s pathetic.
