Amazing

This is a great app if you want to get into coding. I am currently making games in it, but you can do so many other things in it. Definitely get this if you want to start coding anything, it has an amazing community and teaches coding very well.

Dear Timo,

Hey, Timo! I really love you're new app. Not better than the original in my opinion. Mostly because it's really hard to make text games without it being crammed and stuff. So yeah, Can you fix that? Anyways, Can you answer a question for me?Why did apple shut Down LowRes coder?

I wish there was 8x8 graphics

This app is absolutely awesome. I preferred the original lowres coder because it let me make 8x8 pixel graphics very easy but it was taken down and this replaced it. But I am learning to use this one. Great app, I just wish I could do 8x8 graphics :)

Phenomenal

Incredible, powerful, intuitive and flexible game development app! The built-in syntax manual is really really helpful... without it I’d be completely lost. My only note is that I liked the smaller buttons better; the bigger ones are a bit too, well, big for my taste. It’s a super minor thing and it’s entirely my personal opinion, so if other people disagree I hold it lightly.

Magnificent

Writing something like this is incredibly hard and given the beauty the developer has achieved and the money they didn’t ask, it can only mean how much the software meant to them. It is a magnificent piece of masterpiece work. Nothing any less.

Hey, Timo, It’s Chris

This is a review on this app, yes, and a good one. This is an ultra amazingly amazing mega trillionallizeringamore coding platform! And to prove that I’m going to explain how many friends, games, and animations I’ve made on LowRes Coder. LowRes Coder used to be live as the best coding platform there ever was, passing over all others. Still, I’m a proud member of LowRes still and I always will be. The programs you make can be posted on a website so others can enjoy them too, so I’ll bring back now how much fun I used to have arguing with another rival user!😅 JUST KIDDING! This is about the coding, not all the friends and story’s I have! Anyways, thanks Timo for inspiring me and my cousin to grow to be successful and to be capable of anything in the virtual world. I thank you for you work and I always will treasure your apps as my 11, 12 and 13yr memories. P.s: Never forget my text games

Perfect

Out of every mobile programming app I’ve ever used, this is by far the best. I couldn’t ask for much more, especially after the addition of sound. My only recommendation would be UI improvements regarding simplicity and organization. Once again, I highly recommend this for any arcade-style program.

Gameplay and coding

I know I’m like only eleven years old but I think this app is good for kids like me that want to start coding games and grownups and adults too that wanna do the same and so I give this app a five star rating because it shows you the coding guts and everything about the games and I think one day this app will blow up

Ichiban (#1)

Made from the best parts of LOWRES CODER, this is the NeXt (NX) generation from the original LowRes Designed to emulate a simulated handheld gaming system (kinda like the old gameboy) it comes with character Sprite and background editors, and uses a BASIC programming that is similar LowRes uses.. but is actually more powerful than the originalEZ to use and learn for people not familiar with programming, it also has an advanced edge available for more experienced programmers with commands like PEEK and POKE. Advanced programmers can even create their own advanced tools to similar to the included graphic editorsWith a frame rate of 60 FPS, the animation is smooth. Although this is more of a beta version, many more fun features are on the maker's list of things to be added :)Where with original LowRes it may take as many as a few hours to make a nice game, with lowres NX and it's built in graphic editors, it's possible to make a nice game in minutes... once you learn how to use NX :)I ABSOLUTELY LOVE LOWRES NX \(^_^)/

Description

Make your own retro games on a virtual game console. Program in the classic BASIC language and create sprites, tile maps, sound and music with the included tools. As a beginner you will quickly understand how to create simple text games or show your first sprite on a tile map.

As an experienced programmer you can discover the full potential of retro hardware tricks! Virtual Game Console Imagine LowRes NX as a handheld game console with a d-pad, two action buttons and a little rubber keyboard below a slidable touchscreen. LowRes NX was inspired by real 8- and 16-bit systems and simulates chips for graphics, sound and I/O, which actually work like classic hardware. It supports hardware sprites as well as hardware parallax scrolling, and even offers vertical blank and raster interrupts to create authentic retro effects. Old-School Programming The programming language of LowRes NX is based on second-generation, structured BASIC. It offers all the classic commands, but with labels, loops and subprograms instead of line numbers. Graphics and sound are supported by additional commands and you can even access the virtual hardware directly using PEEK and POKE. You have complete control over the program flow, there is no standard update function to implement. Creative Tools LowRes NX includes all the tools you need: The Gfx Designer for editing sprites, tiles, fonts and maps, as well as the Sound Composer for music and sound effects. All of these are just normal BASIC programs. You can change and improve them or even create your own custom editors. Share and Play Send your games directly to other users or share them via the website. All programs are open source, so you can play them, learn from them and edit them. Do you prefer making just art or music? Share your creations as assets and let other programmers use them in their projects.
