Fun to build...but disappointing app

To whom it may concern, So today I was trying out this app with my beatbox for the first time. But when I used it, it just kicked me out of the game. I then tried deleting some of my apps to see if that would work cause I had a bunch of stuff. But even when I did that it still did not work. Hopefully the creators can fix this glitch because I was really excited to use this when my grandma sent it to me. Please fix this I really want to make music videos with my sister using our beatboxes. -Sincerely, Extreme LEGO Lover.

Good idea. Atrocious execution.

Four out of five times, the app hangs or crashes. If you’re lucky that everything works, getting through the insane amount of choices or load screens, including the redundant warnings, takes 7–10 minutes, at which time kids have invariably moved on to doing something else. Talk about knowing your audience! When you get to finding a location, more often than not the app won’t be able to place the bandmate. If this happens, there’s no back button or a way to reload. Seven minutes in, you’ll just have to quit, reopen and go through the whole process again. Mind you, it doesn’t even save the kid’s age at the very beginning, so I do mean the whole process. If all stars align, you happen to be of the correct zodiac sign and it’s your lucky day, you finally get to shoot a video an hour into this frustrating process, and you’re gloriously treated to... nothing. It turns out to be a regular video of the kids dancing. You click buttons, but the bandmate never shows up. No effects whatsoever. I’m two bandmates into this hole, zero videos accomplished, and I guess I’ll have to upgrade to an iPhone from three years in the future before I have enough processing power to make any of this work.

Fun but needs improvement

It’s a great concept and my kids just love it! However, the app is a little confusing to navigate. Additionally, it would be nice to be able to save the videos to my phone or send in text message. Maybe have it password protected so the kids can’t do it without permission? But I would like to be able to share their creations with the family member that got them the gift.****To the developers. Your response didn’t address my comment. I do not want to share the videos to social media. I want to be able to save it to my phone like a normal video to send through text message or email.

Great premise but needs fixing

I only bought the VIDIYO beat box & a bandmate cause I thought they were neat figures. Out of curiosity I decided to try out the app that accustomed these figures and I must agree with these other reviews. The application crashes and loading goes on forever without end. I tried to do a video, er sorry, a VIDIYO accompanied by music and I chose my band and clicked the little play button. The loading started and just kept going. I eventually left the app and tried again and yielded the same results. I want to genuinely experience this app but as of right now, that’s not going to happen until bugs are fixed and patched. I think it’s kind of funny as well that LEGO created a whole new line specifically for an app that doesn’t work as of right now. They had time to test this app out before launching this entirely new experience with LEGO but unless they fix it, people aren’t going to want to continue. However, with all that being said, overall I think VIDIYO has a lot of potential. It’s a great premise and I think kids could have a whole lot of fun with it. Will it be as influential as TikTok? No, but this is a perfect substitute for parents of kids who would like to participate in similar social media. It could also get kids to be more creative with their backgrounds that the band plays in front of and with what dances they perform with the band. Basically, TL;DR great premise and experience with lots of potential, just needs some fixing up.

The best ever

Whenever I use this app, it blows me away. It’s like so cool! So I hope that everyone who enjoys legos will get to use this app. Because it’s just really fun for kids. And if any parents are reading, please just go to the lego store buy your kid a VIDIYO set and let them have fun with the app. For any recommendations I would like to have a search for the song list. Because my sister always wants to do savage love, but the app doesn’t show that song. Which is wierd. Because I got this app on my grandmas iPad, and it was there so I’m not sure if they deleted the song or it disappeared somehow. I had 1 recommendation and that is it for my review!-Isabel

It’s meh :|

So, you see, the sets are over priced for what you get and it has WAY TO MUCH ties with “lego life”. Nice concept tho. But I think you should not have to have a LEGO® Life account to use this, because not everyone might not have a LEGO® Life account and it’s extremely hard to login. Also, make it so the kids can somewhat customize their name of their band because some of the randomly generated ones sounded kind of sexual 😬.Because then you half to login then you have to verify by logging in and then it takes you back to the beginning and it’s an infinite loop!?!? >:[. Just, change that please-from, an unhealthily obsessed Lego fan. (PS, PLEASE STOP WITH THE IDEA THAT THE “LLAMA BEAT BOX” WILL BE THE BEST!?!?!?) thanks (also sup morgen.)

Crashes

When I first heard this app was coming out I was so happy! The day it came out I woke up early and downloaded it. Everything worked fine but when the first dance finished(the one where you make your first band and your not officially on the app yet, sort of like an intro) my screen froze and I could only see the frozen picture of how the last second of my dance looked. I repeated this multiple times after I updated my iPhone 6s+Finally it worked. I signed into my LEGO account and it was working. I could see other people videos and everything like how it was supposed to be. After being on the app for ten minutes or so I left the app to play outside. When I can back in I started the app and it was back to the welcome screen. I tried getting back in but then it kept kicking my out of the app and taking me to my home screen. Now the app just sits on my Home Screen but I did not delete it because I am giving LEGO a chance to fix it as it is a brand new app. I will be happy to change my review if this is fixed, Thank you!

Love it

I love the aspect of making a music video. It is fun because there is a kid safe posting site where you can comment and post your videos. You can also make videos with you in them and the effects are so cool. My only complaint is that there aren’t a lot of songs to chose from. But the idea of the cool characters and the stage effects are so cool!!! Also you can make a band with a funny name and combine your VIDIYO sets, every time you make a video you get coins that you can spend on new outfits. You can also rank up which is so cool 😎! Thank you lego for making this awesome app!

Really like the set - can’t log in to app

Love the idea of this set, and I even like making the cute videos to post. I can see this being a fun collectible for the little band mates and dance moves. Unfortunately no matter how hard I try, I cannot log into the app and connect my account (on an iPhone 11). It log me in, lets me choose my account, then gives me a “failed to log in” message in the app. Not really sure what to do now, since not being able to log in defeats the purpose of being able to post or share the videos. I’ll keep checking back for login updates, however, as once that is fixed I’ll be completely pleased with my purchase.

I love Lego VIDIYO!

I love Lego VIDIYO! So fun! After that one update last year ( think it was after Halloween or Christmas, one of those,), I lost all my stuff. My outfits, beatbits, bands, etc. were all gone! Somehow my gallery had all the videos though. After scanning the boombox, all the Series one minifigs, nearly all the S1 beatbits, and a half-dozen beat-boxes, I am not really motivated to scan them all again. ( still really love the sets) please fix this issue! I know there might not be much to do about it, and I don’t have a Lego life account to log back into. There is another glitch where it always asks my date of birth, as if it were making me redo the tutorial. Lego VIDIYO is still a definite keeper, and I hope they release the S2 figures in our region and stop discontinuing the already released ones. I sincerely hope this does not go the same way LEGO Hidden Side went. Keep on with those fresh updates! See ya!
