Great, but some feedback

My use case: little snippets of song ideas pop into my head while working, walking, etc., and I want to record myself whistling, humming, etc., so I can remember them when I have access to my instruments later.I used to use voice memos for this but, when I listened to them later, it could be difficult to remember what I was originally hearing in my head. Being able to record multi-track loops, basically in the same way as, eg, a guitar looper pedal, allows me to record something closer to the idea in my head, making the idea much easier to “hear” again later. LThe app is great and easy to use for this use case. The feedback: it would be great if the metronome sound could be clickier, a little less musical and a little more neutral/percussive. I find it *very* easy for my brain to interpret the current, beepy metronome sound, basically, as a tonic note. This makes it much more difficult to record my idea because my internal sense of what key I should humming or whistling in kind of evaporates. That said, awesome and easy to use app.

Not in sync

I’ve tried many times to record multiple tracks over each other, but they’re never synced correctly. The second track is always a fraction of a second ahead of the first, regardless of whether or not I played in sync with the track. On top of the technical issues, there is also the problem of the tracks playing in order, having to listen to the whole first recording before it plays the second track on top of it gets pretty aggravating. I suppose it works well enough for a free app, but I wouldn’t even consider paying actual money for it considering the fairly major issues that the current version experiences.

Love this app

Jam Looper is so much fun to use. I am not a great musician but I have found so many ways to use this. I have looped songs to make cannons and rounds dividing the parts into different tracks. I have looped words and phrases and made interesting combination.I even recorded one whole song from beginning to end by just laying the first track and letting it run silently till the end of the song and laying the second track coming in right after the first phrase first track and letting it run if that makes any sense. I like the different sounds the voice makes and I like the way you can turn the volume up and down on the tracks to determine which track you’re listening to. This is great!

My favorite music making app!

I’m a musician who often has a lot of different ideas at once and I struggle getting them all down. This app is so handy and aligns with my creative process, which is so cool. I love how simple the layout is, and how easy it is to get different ideas down! *I do wish there was a way to toggle through the loop as a whole - sometimes I just want to listen back to a section but instead have to listen to the whole thing to get to it. This also goes hand-in-hand with recording - it would be cool to be able to drop into a specific section to record a loop, instead of playing the whole thing*I also wish there was an undo delete as sometimes I’ve deleted the wrong loop and have had to re-record it!A few suggestions for an even better experience :) I love this app, and am absolutely going to keep using it. I hope that future updates make it even better + I hope my feedback helps :)

Could be so great if it just had this one feature:

This app for me personally can do everything I want as far as recording and fine tuning the actual sound I want. But here’s the problem, you literally cannot edit the track at all in terms of its length. This makes the app virtually unusable when it comes actually making a loop. It takes me about half a second to press stop so there is a pause at the end of the track ruining the timing. This seems like such an obvious feature to me but they should just have a track editor where you can edit the sound waves! Truly I don’t understand why this wouldn’t be included, it would turn it into something incredibly useful if it didn’t pause in between every loop.

Amazing ❤️

I’ve been using this app for a while, and one thing that I’ve realized is that professional music needs professional equipment. It’s pretty funny to me how most of the 1 star reviews say that the app is laggy or has a background noise, when the issues are most likely the users fault. One example is that different headphones pick sound up differently. Some headphones may have a delay which could make multiple recordings integrate badly. Also the app only picks up sound that’s there, so if there’s background noise, then it’s probably from the real world and not the app. The only background noise from the app is the beeping from the metronome, which also makes sense, because if the phone is making noise then it’s probably going to pick up on the noise.Basically, to make sure problems don’t occur, your going to want to use at least decent headphones.

Would be cool if it worked

This app seems very nice and helpful. I’ve only had one problem with it and frankly it is a huge deal breaker for me.I was using my normal plug-in headphones to record and I was always recording on-beat but the recordings would never line up. Recording the bass line was fine but then when I would try to record the next track, the bass line would be offset from the metronome and that threw me off so I turned the metronome off and the tracks would still never sync up. I am deleting the app and looking for a new one. Sorry, that is just not going to work for me

Great intuitive looper for acoustic soloing practice

Great looper for some self-practice. This is just what I was looking for when I want to practice some acoustic soloing without going to my pedal board. The timing feature solves any blu tooth lag but I’d like to see an option to lock-in default timing settings for all loops without having to adjust it each time for each new recording. I find, for my looping for example, that 0.4s track timing and 0.1s end trim is almost always spot on for a seamless loop but I have to enter that setting manually each time instead of being able to set it as a default. Awesome simple intuitive app!!

Simple - Almost what I needed

Often, I just want to record some ideas just to see where they could go. This app might not replace your studio, but to me as a hobbyist, it has everything I need to express myself creatively. I do have one complaint, which is not the developer’s fault. The iPhone has a terrible mic and it really takes away from the overall experience. An app that I think is magical is Dolby On, it removes noise and almost gives you studio quality recording, but in terms of actual functionality I find this app way better. If this app had the same recording capabilities as Dolby’s I would see myself drafting an entire album on it. I like the effects on this app, and I respect the developers for allowing us to try them for free, in the end I only used reverb, but I look forward for more. Tldr: Great app, good functionalities, needs software to improve recording quality/noise reduction.

Pretty good app

Pros: I was looking for an app that could have multiple recordings played at once, and this app did that and some. I love the countdown feature you get right as you click the record button. I also think it’s very cool how it gives you the tempo of your own song, and it names it for you! I don’t think I’ve seen any other apps do that. It is a common thing to have the option on how loud you want each track to be, but it’s a good thing that this app has it too. Cons: Unfortunately, my recording were not in sync. Which forces me to start my other track a couple seconds later when I play it on top of my first track. Other wise it will sound bad, but I can live with it. Conclusion: I feel as though this app is mostly fine when it comes to having multiple tracks play at once. Besides for it not being in sync, and the timing not being perfect. But I think it’s very cool/creative because it gives you the tempo, an option to use a metronome, and giving it a name by itself. Which is just cool to me because I don’t think I’ve seen any other apps do that. But I might be wrong.
