Very Happy Campers!

I love this app and its creators! I work with kiddos diagnosed on the Autism Spectrum, and it has helped us work on some obvious things like spelling, reading, and learning to take direction, but some of the progress this app facilitated was completely unexpected. We were able to figure out that one of my visually impaired clients has a wider and more clear field of vision than we thought. Also, some clients are technically verbal, but do not use organic speech and generally do not express implicit desires, but they love this app so much, that they have begun requesting to play WITHOUT any prompting. Finally, the app has helped encourage my kiddos to seek social and physical interactive time with me and their families. Wonderful App

Very limited

Although my 2 year old son likes playing with this app and when he answers something right there is a very rewarding star and cheer for him, there just isn't much to the app. Most games only have 10 questions and that's it. So from this he may learn a few things, but it seems like a bit of a time waster after a while. In addition, the voice recordings that ship with the app sound very unprofessional. Finally I don't particularly care for this app because when my son does touch the right picture that corresponds with the word displayed it doesn't immediately register. He has to touch the proper picture and then also pull his finger away from the screen so he doesn't receive the immediate satisfaction of getting an answer right and is oftentimes confused that it didn't cheer for him. I don't recommend this app until they vastly improve the voice recordings, greatly improve the breadth of content, and fix it so it registers with one touch rather than having to touch the answer and then remove your finger.

My 2 year old son loves it

My first paid app under the children section. Best bang for my buck. My son loves playing with this app. There is a small issue where sometimes randomly the screen and icons seem to lock( can't scroll or press an icon) it happens for a few seconds, hopefully with an update it becomes more responsive. My son loves it and it is helping him learn new words and associate words with pictures yay.

Waste of money

Don't waste your money! I got this for my 2 1/2 year old son who is very savvy with games like this and am very disappointed. There are several major flaws: 1. The word matching game has only one round with one word - that's it. You'd expect it to go to a new word on a new screen if you get it right, but it doesn't. And, it makes the same sound whether you press the right word or the wrong word - and the noise it does make is a "wrong" sound. Pointless.2. The spinner game says "try again" 7 times put of 10. You'd think there would be 10 different options. What is fun about pressing the spinner and having it land on "try again?"3. The movie feature does not work. There is a cartoon picture on a still screen with no animation, and no option to return to the home screen so you have to close out the app completely and reopen it.Maybe with a lot of substantial revisions this could be okay, but is a complete waste of money as is. Sorry, but don't bother!

Very useful for late reader

This proved to be more engaging for a slow to read 5 year old than expected by grandma. Thought he would just gloss over the word matching to pictures but the developers seem to know how to keep him watching/ playing. So far he keeps going back to it even though he has several other new apps. and many older. Plus a few of his older reading friends got a big kick out of it and played for quite a while. Encouraging for him. When I emailed at night for some tech. support, I received an answer early the next morning. We like it and will be interested in the results...pretty sure the repetitive visuals will cement some sight words for him.

Fun & True to Life

What appeals to me and my granddaughter the most about this app is that it teaches kids as young as 2 about life lessons through engaging animations. Getting hurt by falling, etc. and transforming pain into humor helps kids learn to let things roll off their backs. My 3 year old granddaughter laughs out loud when she plays with this app. I like its short animations because they hold her interest. THIS IS A GREAT BUY!!!

It's ok, needs improvement

Great app that could be better if the words didn't show up so quickly. They last about 1-2 seconds, not enough time for a child to retain it. And the words come so quickly after each other, a child doesn't get the retention of the first word before the next one comes up. With that said, the graphics are great and the content is exactly what a preschooler is interested in. The voiceover could be a little happier and kid friendly.

Favorite App!

This is my daughter's favorite app and doesn't get bored with! It's teaching her to recognize words and she laughs out loud while she's watching the animations. Apparently the reviewers that mentioned problems with the matching game didn't read the instructions. It works great and is one of the best features. I can't stand when people bash a program without first contacting the developer to report a problem that can be explained or fixed!

ABA autism therapy provider

I work with young kids that have diagnoses on the autism spectrum, and are primarily on the more severe and low functioning end. They have loved this app and we have made some wonderful reading progress, as well as some monumental expressive/receptive language skill progress. BUT, the most recent update removed the star rewards and the verbal affirmations after each successful turn. The change lead to some major outbursts with some of my clients, and eliminated their interest in the game. Please bring back the option to enable the reward system, or at least the verbal affirmations.

Description

**Reinforces Early Speech & Language Skills** "This is a great app. I am a Speech Pathologist using this for two months now in my preschool classroom consisting of six Autistic children. They are acquiring words faster then in the ABA model and are all highly motivated by it." "I am a mother of a three year old autistic child and she loves these games.

She won't go bed until she plays them. Best money I ever spent, thanks so much." "My son is 24 months and your app is teaching him to read!" "I use this with my preschooler at home and am looking forward to using it at work, with children who have language delays!" "Excellent pictures for all students and preschoolers. As a bilingual speech language pathologist this app will definitely come into good use." "I love it for my students" "My four year old and 18 month year old love this app!" "My 18 month old grandson and 3 year old great nephew really enjoy your app so much that I need two iPads when they are both together just to avoid any fighting, so keep up the great work!!!! " "iTouchiLearn Words gives an interesting twist to iPhone educational apps. The animations are colorful and amusing, and hold great appeal for kids. Most iPhone educational apps work with flashcards, and iTouchiLearn Words is a fresh perspective that kids will enjoy and also learn something new in the process. iTouchiLearn Words is a fun way for kids to learn how to spell, pronounce and also see what words look like. It is definitely one of the better educational apps on the iPhone, and more of it would be most welcome." -iPhone Educational Games "For those parents who have children who are just beginning how to learn to read, or for those parents who want an "edutaining" app for their young child, iTouchiLearn Words is a great choice. This app only costs $2.99, but it is better than some game apps that you will find priced so much more. iTouchiLearn Words will quickly become a favorite of your child. I highly recommend iTouchiLearn Words. iTouchiLearn Words can help children learn how to recognize certain words, and can teach them that learning is a fun process, too." Helium - 5 Stars! "A cute and engaging educational app geared toward teaching toddlers word and image associations. Great for the burgeoning mind. I really like the egg animation, in particular. It’s actually quite brilliant, and I’m sure, fascinating for a child to behold. iTouchiLearn Words definitely has more potential than other, more static flashcard type apps in the App Store." -AppStruck - 4 Stars!
