Wait to buy!

Love the design of this app. However, I find myself always force closing and reopening trying to delete a folder off my ftp. ALSO, you cannot delete a folder that has files. You literally have to delete each file then the folder.UPDATE: I’ve tried many apps including textastic, buffer editor, ftp pro, etc. After working with this app for about two weeks now I’ve learned a few things and I can say I change my review 100%. Although there are still a few issues this is the only app that works great with editing large zip files.

Great price and features

For the price and feature set, this app is worth it.My only complaint is aesthetic and minor: I find the font used in the majority of the UI (menus, labels, descriptions, etc.) to give off a very “amateur” look and feel. It’s like if were to have the option of writing this review in Comic Sans font. You would probably take me less seriously.A feature request I have is to add support for importing/ cloning a git repo given the HTTPS url (from GitHub, Gitlabs, etc.)

Can't access Dropbox

When I connect to Dropbox, not all the text files in my directories are listed, so I can't edit them with this editor. I've contacted the developer, but this defect remains. I re-downloaded the app because it claims an updated Dropbox interface this revision, but there's been no change. Two stars because I really like the editor for the files I *can* access, but until I can access *all* files in a Dropbox directory, it's useless.

Great for remote editing

Just found this app recently and really appreciating its capabilities. It’s great for editing files on a remote server over SFTP without the download/upload workflow used by many other apps. Syntax highlighting, snippets, custom commands, keyboard shortcuts, and the extended “keybar” are icing on the cake. I was surprised at how much I use the “trackball” feature. While you can accomplish the same thing with force touch on the keyboard, the trackball feature is so much easier to use and control. It makes editing on the iPhone a breeze.

Great web development tool!

Thanks for a great app!To my knowledge, GoCoEdit is the only iOS app that allows you to open, edit and save text files directly to a remote server over SFTP. For NodeJS development this is a must since you cannot run a local Node server on iOS. I'd like to see enhancements to the Terminal, especially the ability to support Mosh or other improvements to responsiveness (the Terminal can be a bit laggy).

Feels like a desktop editor

Really useful to have on the iPad Pro for a lightweight workspace to tweak embedded systems via SSH.The only major complaint I have is that it seems to insist on Internet access before it will allow a remote connection. I often use an Ethernet dongle to connect with embedded systems on private networks, so if I’m working in an environment where I can’t also connect to the Internet via WiFi, GoCoEdit becomes useless for no technical reason. Please consider fixing.

Great mobile editor!

I’ve tried all the free apps and frankly, they’re all rubbish. I couldn’t bring myself to drop a wad of money on an app like coda either. I decided to give Goco a try and it is definitely a great app - a good balance of price and functionality. The only thing really limiting the app is the janky “file manager”included with iOS. However, the creator of this app has added the ability to specify / bookmark preferred directories which allows you to easily access specific files and folders. This lemon is definitely worth the squeeze.

Great Development App that has many Features

This is a very impressive app, and thanks for the new update, I love the interactive JavaScript console! The only problem/suggestion I have is when entering commands, etc into the new JavaScript console, and I need to type quotes, the keyboard by default types the rich text “fancy” quotes, not the plain text ones... so I get errors. And actually, now that there is the interactive console, I think it would just be a big improvement to have the extra row of ‘keys, on top of the keyboard, (just like when you’re in regular editing a file mode).Loving this app, thanks again for the update, I will use the js console a lot!

Hits and misses

Fast text editor with syntax highlighting and plenty of themes. But limited fonts and no way to add my own. Really clunky, challenging file manager that looks ported over from a Palm Pilot. Navigation is a total pain. Font sizes are also off, 14 point in this app is rather small on my screen where other apps display 14 pt larger on the screen. It’s a good start, and glad I got it on sale, I hope it gets better, but for now I’ll keep looking for my ideal text editor.

An Interesting and Powerful Editor

I give GoCoEdit five stars because the things it does, it does extremely well. As far as I know it’s the only iOS editor with multiple cursors (like Sublime), which is a wonderful feature. On the downside, it’s lack of clear documentation can mean untangling its power can be a bit tricky. It also (I assume_ enforces a specific workflow: you are either working on local files, or remote server files, but I can’t seem to discover any way to edit a local file, then connect it with a remote server for publishing. In my case this is problematic, because I can easily open files from my Working Copy git repositories, but there doesn’t seem to be an easy way to then publish any changes I make to the server. Working directly on the server just doesn’t make sense when you’re using version control.Hopefully as it matures features such as these will be added, but GoCoEdit really is a powerful editor I would like to spend more time with.
