Doesnā€™t Work on iOS 13.5.

Freezers frequently on iOS version 13.5 to the extent that the app is virtually not usable. If you go to the settings function in the app and then back to the app main screen the screen is reduced to 1/2 the size and is not functional. This is a great app but it should work on 13.5.

Love how simple it is to use and sound Quality is excellent. Like the option to switch mics between phone and headset. And unlike other hearing apps this one donā€™t try to hustle you for money every other time you use it. Also there is a reason why wired headsets are used Bluetooth headsets have horrible sound Quality on a analog type system for hearing. Wired is the only way to go for High quality live sound.

WOW WOW WOW

Just happened upon this while surfing the App Store. After downloading and sampling several others, this is phenomenal. I had a hearing test and was diagnosed as needing hearing aids, well, for now I think I will stay with this amazing find. Adjustable volume and tone control, clarity is fantastic.Thank You

Best of class

I have been trying four hearing apps on iphone X w/Apple earbuds and also a few hearing aids. My issue is not volume but clarity with multiple talkers, words in songs, talking room to room, etc. Ear Machine (on iPhone X) runs flawlessly and does this quicker, easier, and more effectivelyā€”without fiddling with settings, profiles, etc. For me it is as good or better than the $2K-$6K hearing aids.

Where is Bluetooth???

Thanks for the great program, but why havenā€™t you added support for Bluetooth earphones yet?If Trump killed the funding, make it an ā€œin-app purchaseā€. Iā€™d pay for it in a heartbeat and give this app 5 stars!!!!

Great free app

This is better than some high priced subscription application. Too bad there is no Bluetooth option, but still 5 stars!

WHAT A BOON!! SAVED ME!!

I'm sitting at a 4-day business conference, as I write this. One of my hearing aids is entirely nonfunctional; the other needs adjustment badly. My first day at the conference: The small meeting rooms have no mics; the large room does, but in both cases, all I'm hearing from the speakers is "Mrrr-brrr-nunn-bunn-sbee-brrr-gnn." And I'm gonna have four days of this? I'm considering spending the four days in the hotel bar. (Might as well!) I'm thinking, "Someone should invent an app for this." Then I'm thinking, "Hey, maybe someone did." So I go to the app store and ... WHAM!! There it is: Ear Machine. WOW!! Loud! CLEAR! I was just hoping for a volume boost, but there's a separate, adjustable high-frequency boost as well. Sibilent sounds are suddenly back. "Wrist" no longer sounds like "rift." I'm hearing and understanding every single word from every speaker. EVERY word, clear as a bell. My hearing aids, when working properly, were not this good in a conference-room situation. Saved the entire conference week for me. WOW, again! And many thanks!

iPhone mic to my aids? No; shucks.

This looks like a marvelous app, but I cannot use it with my Bluetooth hearing aids. I even have Apple earbuds, which their second setup question indicated I had to have, but then I would be tied to my phone and couldnā€™t use my own hearing aids, which were tuned by an audiologist. What I want to do is pass my phone around the table to whoever is speaking, then hear in my own aids. But the microphone on my aids is at my ear and I would like the mic to be closer to the speaker. If it could also filter out some of the background noise, so much the better! I signed up for the developerā€™s newsletter; letā€™s hope they add this feature and let me know.

Doesnā€™t work on Bluetooth

Seems like EarPods and this app would be a natural fit but only works on wired headsets.Claims needs the mic from the headset when you try and start it.Wired it seems to work pretty well. But I have little interest in going back to wearing wires on my ear as anymore.Hopefully this updates to include the Apple EarPods , Iā€™ll adjust my rating accordingly

Canā€™t make it work

I tried this a few months ago and liked it. It worked fine with the cheap headphones I was using. But then those quit working, and I didnā€™t replace them right away. Now Iā€˜ve bought some good Bose headphones. Apparently in the meantime the app developers have decided that they will only support Apple ear buds. I canā€™t get Bose to work, even with the cord. All I get is an error message telling me to plug in the ear buds.

Description

EarMachine is an app that makes it easy to listen to the sounds that you want to hear. Those sounds can be picked up by the microphone in your phone or earbuds, and can be played from your music library! EarMachine is helpful in situations ranging from talking in noisy restaurants to watching television at home.

This work is funded by the National Institutes of Health (of the United States of America). Features: Simple Interface, Complex Processing With a simple interface, EarMachine, allows you to adjust more that 150 signal processing parameters with a simple swipe of your finger on a wheel. The mapping from wheel position to parameter values is the result of a large-scale analysis of the hearing status of more than 10,000 people. EarShare: An intelligent recommendation engine Ear Machine also contains a recommendation engine called EarShare. This engine will listen to the sounds around you and use that information to recommend wheel positions. The recommendations are based on both large-scale analyses of hearing abilities as well as your usage of the app. EarShare will give better recommendations the more you use the app. Listen to whatever sounds you want. Ear Machine allows you to choose whether you want to listen to the microphone in your iOS device, or the one in your earbuds (iOS 7 only). You can also use Ear Machine to listen to songs/podcasts in your music library. State of the Art Signal Processing The signal processing in Ear Machine is similar to what is used in most hearing instruments. A wide-dynamic range multiband compressor ensures that quiet sounds are amplified, while protecting you from sounds that are already loud. A multiband limiter provides further protection from loud sounds. An expander makes sure that very quiet sounds (e.g., refrigerator hum) are not annoying. You can even use Ear Machine as a sound level meter (works best with phone microphone).
