So saddened and disgusted.
OG DC user here. I loved the original draw cast when I was younger, it helped shape me as a digital artist, and I will always have it to thank for that. But this.. this is just appalling. I just want to see my old art again. I didn’t take it seriously when I heard that the old DC was shutting down. I thought “no way!” But.. it happened, and I didn’t get to save much at all of my old art.. not to mention, I lost being able to contact some people I had met through there. It’s really upsetting, and it disgusts me that Cota wants to turn this once great platform into some money-hungry NFT app. Why is it everything I loved from my childhood is now becoming desperate for money and turning to NFTs? First animal jam and now this? When will it end!!?

As someone who used the old fc and dc for most of my life it’s awful that this is made form the same man, when everyone heard the news of the shutdown people cried. People made art of fc with all the people who supported it. Everyone loved the app but greed took you and may never give back. If you say this is just to for the people the your wrong the people who join the contest may be peoples who wish to feel the same joy they felt when they first had fc or maybe people who just want to make money and art, but you have to care for others. You took something that gave millions of people joy and turned it to something of disgust. Just bring the old fc and dc.

I was an old fc/dc user and I made a joke about how I grew up on the app and decided to check it out again only to find THIS. It’s so disappointing to see where it the app went. I miss the social part so much and I wanted to look at all of my old art but judging by the path it went, I’ll never see it again ☹️☹️☹️ it’s buggy and blatantly supports NFTs which is already a no for anyone with a brain
we don’t want this
no one wanted an NFT app, just bring back the fc and dc servers. the GUI isn't good and it is even more glitchy than the original apps were. It looks nothing like the original app and you cant even make an account. You said that the new app would bring back the old data from your account and yet you can’t even create one. This app feels very rushed, you made a buildup for a new app for like 3 years and NFTs are a fairly new thing. Even if you just used the same GUI from what was going to be the new fc/dc, it would have still not have been much of an improvement. Most of the people who were in the fc/dc community were from ages 13-18 and minorities cannot have hold of NFTs. It has been nearly a year since the shutdown and we are not happy with this new app. No one cares about these contests. Please Cota just listen to your community and bring the original apps servers back.
What happened to the old drawcast 😕
I genuinely don’t understand why it was changed to NFT. I wish the old things were back. The app is totally different now and I don’t like it at all. If I could rate this half a star I would because although the app is completely different I still grew up with it so it still deserves some appreciation. I know this review is short but it’s really sad on how this app went from have five stars to almost all of the people rating it a one.

I want my old drawings back :( let us access our old accounts so we can save them. Or made an online library to access them. I don’t know. I just really want them. my childhood art is on there and I feel like a huge portion of my career as an artist is missing
Bring the old servers back.
Put up the old servers. Bring back my childhood. you absolutely ruined it, I'm disgusted. I grew up with FrameCast, and you took that away for what, FIDDLE DIDDLE DONKEY DOODOO?? I KNOW you have enough money to uphold the servers of FrameCast and DrawCast. Bring them back. When i found out you had posted the new app FINALLY, i was excited. I downloaded it..The tools sucked, but they always have, so I can look past that, right? No. THERE IS N O social side of this anymore. I can't do this. I was SO mad for HOURS. Bring the old stuff back.
Hollow replacement for an amazing app
I’m not being unreasonable when I say this version has no place on anyone’s device. No community, no internet, no login, nothing that made the original so beautiful and lively. The original app played a huge role in my artistic development and has practically raised me. We have lost all our artworks because of this selfish decision, and the creator is using their once loyal fan base to do free labour and make NFTs for them, an immoral “art form” which no one wanted. We miss the community, we miss the connection, we miss when the Othernet actually cared even though it was for a very short time. Take this down for respect to the old community or bring back the old servers and app. This is appalling.
Literally appalled
I grew up using the original form of this app, and I would credit it, along with its community, with much of my development as an artist; the informal education I got on the app helped me get into art school at one of the best public universities in the nation. The original DrawCast is where I made some of my fondest memories and lifelong friendships that I’ve kept up to this day. When the app shut down, I was devastated, and nothing has been able to replace it. When I happened to see that it had been re-added to the App Store as an NFT-based app, I was honestly appalled and speechless. To have brought this animated corpse of an app back devoid of the community and artists that once made it such a beautiful place feels like an insult to the treasured memories and artworks I made when I was younger.
It’s insane how bad
I am actually laughing at how bad drawcast turned to be its embarrassing how it used to be the app I grew up with and got interest in drawing and now we have this a literal joke the new system is incredibly buggy (not to mention how bad the new brushes and stuff are) there’s a lack of a community and now there’s NFT contests seriously.? Don’t get me started. No one is happy with this. Now delete the app and come back with something that doesn’t ruin everything you built up in the past :)
Description
DrawCast is a drawing app which holds periodic free-to-enter art competitions. The top voted artworks are turned into NFTs which are then awarded to the artists which drew them. The winning artists can then choose to hold those NFTs, or sell them as they please for profit.
