When you start you don’t have any hearts so I thought the storyline would be super dry but that’s not at all true. The story kept me entertained for a really long time and once it was over I was craving more. And don’t worry cause along the way you can earn hearts so you can save them up. And the story’s change, they aren’t always the same type like episode they are tailored to what you want to read. Also don’t fret cause you don’t have to pay to read more of the story!! That by far is my favorite part and I think you should definitely download this app NOW!!

So Addicting

I love this app, and I wasn’t expecting to. I rarely play games on my phone, and when I do, I tend to lose interest pretty quickly. Because of that, I figured I’d probably do the same with this one, however, I can’t stop playing! I get so sucked into the stories and accumulating coins to customize my character. I even purchased coins and hearts to unlock more content (something I never do). I haven’t tried playing with friends yet, but I think it would be really fun. I saw someone comment that this app is for teenagers. I’m 35 so... Anyway, I’m really glad to have found this app, and to have something fun to get sucked into during lockdown. Much needed!

I wanted to be surprised and enjoy this app, but i was disappointed

i tried this app before and deleted it because i didn’t like it, but since it got a new arcana episode only available there i decided to give it a second chance. i really really really wanted to be surprised despite what i’ve heard and enjoy this app. i really did. so yeah, i tried but no. it’s just so buggy. And everything just looks so, i mean comparing it to the arcana app everything just looks so unappealing. especially the create your own character. i feel like arcana is just such a beautiful game with amazing art but then i’m forced to look at the character i made with like no options for character creation in this ugly business lady dress and it’s just ruining it for me :( i wanted to enjoy this but like every time the camera pans to “me” i’m like dang. i don’t feel like the character thing adds anything anyways it just takes away from the immersion into the story. Maybe that’s sort of a petty thing, but i feel like it’s a big part of the game and this app is the aesthetics and how easy it is to navigate. i just really don’t like it as it is. i really really hope that in the future the arcana stuff can also be uploaded to the arcana app because i just don’t enjoy using this app plain and simple. :( :( if anything making it so i don’t have to look at my character would at least be nice.

The app is ok

Dorian in my opinion is a pretty ok app, people can make their own stories and upload their art as characters. Cool. My thing is, there’s no real explanation on how to get hearts. In the comments every u can constantly see people asking how to get them. Everyone’s theories on how to get them is different so it makes it even more confusing. The biggest theory on how to get hearts is by having people like ur comments but that’s not true. I’ve also heard u can get them by reading 3 chapters a day…which also isn’t true. There should be something to explain how the currency works. I’d happily watch ads for hearts. Like how in arcana u can watch ads for coins. And sometimes the pictures in the stories take a long time to swap to the next one, like a lag of some sort. The speed of when u press to go to the next scene is laggy too.

Fun and Addicting

I’ll be honest, I had no idea that this app even existed until the merger with The Arcana and FictIf was announced. I was feeling a bit overwhelmed on the app, not knowing where to start, but one of the mods in the Discord group suggested that we newcomers should try gehe’s Codebreaker series. Now I’m completely hooked! I can’t believe how much fun I’m having while reading the story! Codebreaker is one of the few dating sims I’ve played where I like all of the LIs so much that it’s really difficult for me to choose a favorite!! But, if I had to choose someone to ship with the MC, Bay, it would have to be Giara! I’m bi irl and Giara has all the qualities of my dream gf. A short, pink haired science nerd who calls me Senpai? She’s so perfect! Anyways this app is amazing and I really look forward to playing more stories as well as creating some of my own in the future!

Can we stop this?

Can we please stop the “pay for choices” thing? It’s getting annoying at this point especially if you have to pay for gems or for hearts in this case. Can’t we just make a choice we want to make without having make one we don’t because we don’t have enough hearts? I thought this game was going to be super fun and enjoyable until I came to choices. You can keep the pay for choices as long as you put in an acceptable way of obtaining the means to pay that isn't money. For example, hearts very 2-3 hours or put in some ads for hearts. Jeez, this gets on my nerves. Come up with better tactics. The story’s are great but the fact I barely have a choice isn’t.

no customization and shady practices

for an lgbt inclusive app you seem to only care about media for only women. this makes me worried after the recent fictif announcement. please improve on your app to ACTUALLY be inclusive to all sexualities and genders.update: it's worse than i thought. seeing how you give the same cookie cutter response to genuinely concerned people about your underperforming episode clone is absolutely appalling. "just change your profile picture" or "go play another game" isnt a solution to a lack of customization and app support. the reason fictif and arcana are important is because they give people other than women access to otome-style content.you don't care about quality regulation with the fact that anyone can make a bad, rushed visual novel with premade assets instead of actually being creative. fictif is dead, and you killed it. so many stories cut off and gutted before they could be finished and are nowhere to be found on your app. i'm not exaggerating when i say that this could be the death of mobile visual novels.

Don’t Waste Your Time

When I downloaded this app I had high expectations, especially after they took over Nix Hydra’s amazing work The Arcana: A Mystic Romance. But I’m going to be honest, I am not a fan. Hald of the authors on the app are wannabe Wattpad (not ao3 of course) fanfiction authors, they are bottom of the barrel bad. Stories with loose ends, horrible dialogue, and new chapters getting added every other decade. The other half of the authors are tolerable, but none the less cheesy. And I’ll admit there are a token few good stories but don’t get any hopes up. Lastly, I would like to pick a bone with whoever is writing the new Arcana stories. Asra was pretty spot on, Nadia yeah ok, but Julian???? I’m not sure if this has been widely noticed but it’s like he was shaved down to “sexy, dramatic, and hot”. There is no salvageable beloved side of Julian from the past routes. If I knew this would be the outcome I wouldn’t have taken time out of my day just to end up disappointed, take it as you will.

Kinda straight forward review

It has a lot of potential but is ruined by people that can make their own in my opinion but there is also other reasons like I can’t find what I’m looking for with the tags and things like that. I also don’t like how almost every story was lgbtq+ and straight as a tag like just choose because I just want a story I can relate to and I don’t understand if this would be not straight or straight (not hating or anything). I just wanted to relate and have fun but I can’t do that if I can’t get started. I think this is great e but maybe focus less on doing lgbtq+ because not everyone will like it and if you focus on it too much on it it will just make you look desperate and less fun honestly. I’ve seen this happen so many times to shows, games, and just a lot in general. It has potential tho like a lot.

Fun to Read AND Create!

I accidentally discovered Dorian on tiktok, and have been addicted ever since! There’s a wide variety of short, bite-sized story episodes with great visuals. I love the “choose your own adventure” style of the story-games, and appreciate the fact that I’m able to read them ALL for FREE (even if the option I reeeeally want to choose is paid 😅).Some people complain about the paid choice options, but I think it’s an awesome way to show support for the creators who put in so much work to create fun, engaging stories. Plus, they have an amazingly friendly community in Dorian, as well as super responsive customer support. In the few months I’ve been using the app, I’ve already seen multiple updates and improvements. The simplicity of it all is what inspired ME to try publishing my work an story too, and it’s been a really fun process! Def recommend giving it a try and reading a few stories to see which ones YOU’ll get addicted to 😊
