Ok, but don’t buy the pro version

I liked the free app so I upgraded. It kept the “upgrade to pro” link and didn’t give any links to the pro features. I tried to find info on exporting to PDF, either through the share button or anywhere else, but I found nothing. The only thing it did was remove the ads that weren’t that intrusive anyways. I tried restarting my phone and reopening the app, but no luck. I _was_ able to access the synch option but it required me to get a different app (Dropbox) to use it. Also, contrary to their claim, it did not give the pro account to my other devices. I logged into the app on my iPad with the same user name and password as my phone (where I paid for the pro account) but it still had ads. It’s really too bad that they don’t give you the features they promised. When this happens, it makes me less likely to try paid upgrades with other apps in the future.

A Favorite app

I downloaded this app at the beginning of the year. I wasn’t much into journaling but wanted to find a substitute to posting on social media as I gave it up. I didn’t expect to enjoy this app as much as I have or utilize as much as I did! I loved being able to journal about my adventures or the most mundane of days, upload pictures to my entries (even memes), creative write, quotes, poems, fascinating stories, write out my goals and the progression of it, and most recently at the end of this year be able to look back and reflect on all the changes that have occurred, how my goals progressed and changed, laugh at some stuff, high 5 myself for making it through others, relive some of the adventures I’ve been on, and even see how my mindset has and hasn’t changed. I love the layout of this app, the ease of use and posting, uploading pics, and how easy it is to scroll through my posts and categorize them. I like how you can choose your mood, location, temp, and little personalized touches you can add. These little details add to some of the entries I’ve made. I was app happy this year, and this is definitely one of my favorites and most utilized, if not my most favorite.

Updated: document export issues

Updated: After contacting support, I received a quick email response, the problem was fixed fairly promptly (a day) and I was able to export a PDF. While that is much appreciated- hence 4 stars rather than none - I also wasted a great deal of time dealing with an issue that should have been discovered and fixed previously- I am surely not the only person using an iOS device. Nevertheless a prompt response from support and a solution to the problem so I am pleased with their willingness to work with me and solve the problem. I do like the ease of using the app and the output is exactly what I wanted. I upgraded to Pro so that I could see my input as one cohesive document but no matter how I choose to export my information- PDF, docx, text - I get the wonky DMS file that apparently cannot be opened or read by any other program. AND, extra annoyingly, there is NO support listed on website except for a worthless FAQ - no email, no nothing. Not only not worth the $5.99 but not worth the time it took to enter information.

Would be 5 stars but no support at all

I love the look and feel of this app. I am a PRO member/subscriber and have been for some time, with over a thousand entries. However, I have been trying to contact the company for support for well over a month and have sent multiple emails, but there has been ZERO response or even acknowledgement. My support questions are deal-breakers, and I conveyed that in my emails, but no reply at all. As a result, I have started testing other apps and will (reluctantly) move if I can't get a response. I can't trust a product that has no support, so my 5-star review has become a 1-star. The issue I tried to reach support about was that you sync your data, every entry re-dated to the date of sync rather than the date of creation, and there is no way (other than typing it in) I can find to preserve a record of the date the entry was made. This is a MASSIVE issue. The purpose of a diary/diary app is to create a dated record of events. Most of my entries are made on mobile, and so I have sync from the web app in order to see the entries made on mobile. They don't auto-sync, and when I manually sync in the web app, every entry is given the date of the sync, ruining the purpose of dated entries.I hope that this review will spark some response from the developers, instead of being ignored like my emails. I'll update my review at some point to reflect that outcome.

I Love This App! Replaces Day One!

I just got my iPad Pro 10.5 for Christmas and looked for a new journal app that would replace Day One AND upload all of my Day One entries starting in 2013! The pro version at a good price does this very well. I followed the directions in the FAQs. It took awhile and when it said Done for downloading data from my Dropbox and an error for downloading attachments I was worried, but I hit continue. I was very pleased to see my 1,071 entries and my photos too! They were in a folder called Day One so I made another folder for my new entries just in case.I love how easy this app is to use compared to Day One and I can easily put many photos in my entries. Haven’t tried other things yet, but so far I highly recommend this app! I was worried about losing my journal entries from Day One and I definitely do not want to pay a Day One subscription! Oh, and I can use this on my iPhone 7 Plus, this iPad, and my MacBook Pros online! I love it!

Love This App

Diaro has completely changed the way I organize my life. I use it for several aspects of my life: 1) keep track of funny things my kids say and do, and about their achievements; 2) keep track of illnesses/what meds are being taken/symptoms, etc.; 3) list where and what we did on family vacations; 4) daily gratitude journal; 5) notes from parent/teacher conferences; 6) a place to list holiday meal traditions to search for later; 7) basic journaling about feelings or everyday events; 8) notes to remember from client meetings. You put each entry into a separate folder (family, gratitude, medical, school, etc.), and you can also create tags. So I could pull up all entries for one of my children and print them out for a keepsake book. Or pull up all entries for a medical event to bring to the doctor. You can also add photos to each entry. Absolutely love it.

Great app, great team, highly recommend!

I’ve been using Diaro for years. It’s truly the best journaling/app. The UI is easy to use and customizable.... I love that there are security features, and also I love that the list of features this app has continues to grow, with the additions of links, photo, locations, etc that can be added to entries... the team continues to make this app better and better. I really appreciate the developers for always being so responsive to feedback and so quick in bug bashing if anything ever arises (and honestly I rarely run into issues!). I always recommend this app to friends and family looking to keep a journal, and I always recommend the Pro version too because it’s so affordable and beyond worth it. Thanks for all you do and this awesome app, Diaro team!

Easy To Use - Not Enough Sync Options

This is an easy to use, straight forward journal app with some nice features. Also, it’s far less expensive than some of the other overpriced journal apps, like Day One. The biggest downside for me is that the app only links to Dropbox, and not with any other cloud based storage, so it forces the user to purchase an expensive Dropbox subscription if data is to be synced across platforms. Simply allowing iCloud would make this app a must-have for journaling. The developer took the time to reply to my review and provided information about why Dropbox is currently the only sync option available. With that information I’ve updated my review from three to five stars. Also I’ve used the app for a longer period and it is a really cool app. Most of the other similar apps are so overpriced and involve an annual subscription. This app is affordable and worth every penny.

Best Price, Beats Them All!!

I used Day One for over 4 years and have hundreds of entries, but now that Day One charges $25 a year when the first app was $5 is insane. To stick with the new Day One would cost me $100 when the app has reached its peak (Honestly, what more can a journal App do?). I understand apps are not easy to maintain and developing takes times, but $25 a year from thousands of people is insane when they have slow feature rollouts and are buggy anyway!!! Literally the only difference between $5 Day One 1 and $25/yr Day One 2 is that you have to pay $4/month for multiple pictures in an entry, a feature they left out in DO1 on purpose. I already know Day One v3 will be $50/yr and let you include short video entries. Step in Diaro! $5 flat and it offers exactly what Day One wants 5x more money for. Diaro should be the top diary app! My only minor issues would be that I would like iCloud sync and a design option similar to Day One (D.O. is a beautiful app designed by greedy insane people). I will be using this app and recommending it for years to come!! Keep up the good work!!

Was Not Happy but things are better!

Updated review:The Diaro support team is great- they have taken care of the issue and I now have the pro version I wanted.It appears that since the iTunes charge was pending (as iTunes often waits days to charge for payment) I never got the pro version. All I had to do was send a screenshot of the pending charge and the Diaro team fixed the problem and now I have the app.I’m happy with my experience and I’m looking forward to my Diaro journaling!First review:Tried to enter this with no stars but I had to put in one for the rating to submit.Bought the pro version but nothing has changed. The app won’t provide a way for me to contact the developer, it says I haven’t set up a mail account in order to email, even though I have signed in with my email and password. Have tried to email from the app page in the App Store, haven’t heard back yet.I want to see that I actually bought the app. I don’t need it to keep inviting me to buy the pro version, and then when I do, have it tell me I already bought it. I don’t want to see ads anymore. I want to know that I have received what I paid for.So very frustrating. Right now I’m ready to forget the whole thing and try to get my money back but will wait till tomorrow to see if there’s any change.NOT HAPPY SO FAR!!!!!
