Great start and concept..really needs some work though.

Please do not get me wrong here! This is a great product with some amazing potential for the future with the current, as of this writing, version being so low. I love the concept of the “desktop with file folders nested inside of each other. I like the concept of moving papers and pdfs around within these folder and on the desktop and all the capabilities within that realm that are already there. This is a really cool! For me, unfortunately, it has a few MAJOR flaws and has some missing features that make it more of a “cool tool” than a real productive one. Some of the missing features seem to me to be pretty basic features that I thought would logically be present. Here is a list that I came up with within just a coupld of hours of using it, I am a newbie to this, so forgive me if I just simply have not found the features yet. 1. The eraser tool can not be individually sized?! It seems to be sized to the size of the other tools, which means the individual tools can not be sized differently, makes no sense. 2. The handwriting recognition is AWEFUL!! Am I doing something wrong here?3. Should be able to select a textbox and resize all contents, not just the text-box itself, instead of having to select the text first. 4. Text formatting is pretty lacking; i.e. no numbering lists, bullet lists, paragraph formatting, line spacing, indentation, etc. 5. When an element is selected, by double tapping, I should not have to hold on it in order to move it, this is very awkward and not intuitive.6. Where are the “settings”? Am I missing them somewhere, or is there simply no global settings? 7. Selecting text is a very frustrating experience. 8. Highlights should be IN BACK of the text being highlighted and not fade the text. Again, this is a tool in its early stages so I don’t want to come across as too negative, I am still excited to see where this tool goes. I really like the ability to pull pages out fo a pdf and regroup them into another stack and then export or print that stack. Very cool! It’s all very visual and that’s what I like. Anyway, I would recommend it, but not for anyone looking for a serious productivity tool right now. Stick with Goodnotes, Evernote, or the like. This one may grow into competition for them, but right now it lacks the dynamics to do so. I have high hopes for this product and hope it will be like wine and get better with age and updates!

Super useful app and being developed at a rapid pace

As it is, the workspace is incredibly useful and functional. But the most exciting thing is how rapidly it’s being developed. The discord is really active about what features to add next, and any bugs or issues get squashed quickly. This is also a small 2 person dev team who seem very keen on listening to their users. Highly recommend!

Good idea, poor execution. Wasted money and huge disappointment.

The idea of this app is interesting. I like the idea of having an open canvas and the ability to see notes visually. The stacks are appealing for PDFs. It allows the user to see pages of PDFs side by side. The app also offers various types of paper, including dot grid, lined, and squared grid. It even allows for changing the colors of the paper and dots! With that said, I do not find this app to be useful. The user experience is not good. Zooming in to see the PDF pages is dizzying. PDFs cannot be resized, which makes the zoom function necessary. But zooming in is frustrating. The export function is limited to one object; it’s not for each space. Handwritten text cannot be resized. The canvas can’t be written on, only the documents can. There is currently no support for opening multiple instances of the app. And OCR is not available. If you want a visual canvas, I would pass on this app. HARD pass. Instead, try Concepts or even Muse. Both are more polished apps than this. And, don’t bother trying this app out. The refund policy is unfair. $20 wasted.

My New Research Stash

I really like how the interface gets out your way on this app, I feel like I am working on desk with an infinite filing cabinet. This app is like a well thought out hybrid of Sling Notes (sadly no longer available) and Corkulous.The ability to export any asset and/or complete note space to PDF is fantastic. The stacking feature is great for page collections and PDFs imported from my Concepts, GoodNotes and Notability notebooks and the web, allowing specific collection and reorganization in a free-form way. Looking forward to options for “bring your own” external cloud backup and syncing. The fact this doesn’t require use of a forced cloud service like Muse, is what makes this program a gem and makes me feel in control of my data, without a subscription. I hope the developers continue to improve this app as it could easily become the next “Must Have” for iPad.

But here’s a short list of features I’d like to see implemented:- Ability to rescale handwritten text- Line and shape recognition for Apple Pencil- Adding cover-images to folder- multi-window support

Elegant and Appealing

I love this app. I purchased it after viewing the exquisite tutorial videos on the developers’ website and listening to a podcast interview with the user interface designer. I believe that the designer and the developer share a vision of what this sort of app ought to be and are making rapid progress toward their goals. I am not an elegant person but I appreciate quality tools. In this app I haul all my research onto my space and start writing on my screen with my Apple Pencil. If I need anything the app makes it easy to bring it to the workspace. This is a very intimate way to interact with the iPad and releases a lot of inhibitions I feel when using a keyboard and facing a blank screen. I love that I can tilt the “paper” while I write. This feature really helps an old left-handed scrawler like me. The latest update also offers left-handlers the option of moving the drawer and tools to the right side of the screen. Defter Notes helps me to do serious work in a way that I find appealing. I look forward to seeing where the developers take it, and they appear to be moving quickly. I offer an enthusiastic endorsement.

Loving the visual free form nature

I just saw the video guide, and already loving the PDF page split and zoom in features. Very appealing to how my brain works. Look forward to how this app evolves, thinking about dropping Notability for this

Neat idea … five stars when internal links works for PDFs

I use a lot of PDFs … one of my daily used ones is roughly 3000 pages. It imported fine here … but since links from Table of Contents (and other internal links ) all do not work - I’m unable to use the app for these PDFs. I look forward to a new version of this app when I can tap a link in the PDF and the thumbnailed pages will center that page at the top when the PDF jumps to that page from tapping the link.
