The Best

Way better than specific built truck gps’s sold at truck stops. Gets you into and out of cities, towns, etc on the truck route. Will not route on roads that are not legal for a truck, will not route you under bridges that aren’t high enough for your rig. Full customization available for hazmat, over height, over weight etc. best of all, it’s on the phone,(or tablet), you already have! If you update your device, just re download it to your new device for free. If you have bad or absolutely no cell coverage... doesn’t matter, this works off of the gps system so it’ll work anyway. Just like anything else, it isn’t perfect, I’ve found obscure, and/or new roads that wasn’t noted in the system, (and they have a way to submit that so it’ll be included in their next update), but 95 to 99 percent of the time, this gps will get you where you are going... legally. To many features to go through, but all are useful and rival what I used when I had a dedicated gps back in the day. SO GET IT ALREADY!!!

Needs Work

I made the purchase and literally canceled the very next day. I was still charged for the year subscription. However, what I didn’t like is that it’s not compatible with Apple Car Play which is a must these days. The second thing I didn’t like is that it took me on a road that was closed due to construction and once I passed my turned due to detour it kept rerouting me through small streets that I didn’t take because my RV is too big for those turns. So I had to go back to google maps. I mainly downloaded it so I can plug my RV height and width and get routes that my RV could go on but if it doesn’t recognize closed roads and it’s not compatible with Car Play really not worth it. Another problem I encountered is my RV is 13’6” and it would not accept those exact measurements even though it has the boxes asking for exact height so I had to put 14ft to be safe but that means I may be missing on a shorter route due to improper height on app. Was thinking of asking for a refund but not sure it’s worth the hassle.

Unreliable

I bought this years ago & was annoyed that my purchase didn’t count for anything when it moved to a subscription model. However, I need a reliable GPS on my phone for our RV travels. This isn’t it. On the first trip while using it Copilot directed us down a road that we should never have been on. I don’t blindly follow GPS instructions but neither Apple Maps nor my paper map indicated anything to raise alarms. After we turned into this narrow country road with swamp each side and no shoulders we reached a sign saying that there was no access for vehicles over 1/2 ton or longer than 20 feet. We’re 16 tons and 40 feet and there was no area to turn around. Backing half a mile down a country road to turn back into a busy state highway was great fun. Copilot wouldn’t reroute. It kept telling us to turn back onto that road. The second time, it routed us onto city streets that had low (very low, one was 9’) overpasses. Luckily, I picked up on that before we turned off. Then the app wouldn’t reroute. Third & last time, I ran copilot concurrently with MapQuest, and ran Apple Maps on the iPad alongside. Copilot lost signal and ran around in circles, then tried to turn us around to start the route over. Neither of the others lost our position. Copilot is now uninstalled and I wouldn’t recommend it to any truck or RV driver.

Fails at Main Job

There are aspects of this app that I like. However, the main issue, and why I will no longer use it, is that it has failed multiple times to do the main thing that I got it for amd that is to avoid routes based on trailer length and height. I felt like it was worth paying the $30 for this exact feature. Otherwise, I could use Google Maps for free. This most recent time it took me right down the middle of the strip in Laughlin, NV. Come to find out, I could have stayed on a highway and avoided the tight space and traffic and been faster. Since being at this RV park I have noticed the highway route is what every other RV has taken to get here. After arriving my wife put the trip into Google Maps and it routed along the highway as well. It also often times doesn’t have the address I am looking to go to or the place by name. I could live with that, but I cannot live with it leading me on a route that is more dangerous/difficult due to our length. Again, this is supposed to be the whole reason to pay to get it. Disappointed that I wasted my money on this product.

Not reliable. Got me into trouble

It seems they aren’t updating this app accurately. To start I was experiencing several incidences where this app did not recognize the address I entered and would give me another option nearby. But I could accept this, however there were several times using this app that it would freeze and not update. And unless I was paying attention I could have missed a turn or something important. In order to overcome the freeze I would have to force close the app and reopen/ load it. That’s a concerning issue with regards to confidence of the product. But my topper to canceling my subscription and deleting the app was the directions it gave me to get on the freeway to other night, it instructed me to turn left so I was in the left lane pulling 70’ of Coach and trailer . It wasn’t till I neared the point where there should have been a left turn lane that I realized the app is wrong and I was supposed to have been on the right side of the road 3 lanes over to a helix on-ramp. And it became clear this on-ramp system had been there for many many years. I was left with having to navigate through small streets and come back around. For me, A subscription based app focused on trust for driving directions, it was a fail on a gargantuan level. No go for me Copilot. You aren’t worthy.

Incorrect information on maps

Here’s what I’ve noticed after purchasing, using, and running this side by side with Google Maps. 1- The maps are outdated. For example, on the east coast there are large areas of freeway and highway that have changed their exit number (don’t know why) but this map shows the old number. Google shows the updated numbers. 2- more importantly, there were at least 2 instances where the map told me to take an exit that was incorrect. For example, it said “stay to the left and follow exit 6B when in fact I needed to take a cloverleaf hard right exit to get on to 6B. The illustration was incorrect and labeled the exit incorrectly. Got me in trouble twice which is why I keep Google maps on to double check the info. I bought this app to help guide my RV around low clearance bridges, etc. it has done that so far but with the correction help of Google. Overall not happy with this app and unfortunate that I paid for it.Update- Got a reply with a question mark at the end of a statement and a cookie cutter response. On the latest trip it kept routing me off the road to a small road that went right back to the road I was on. Wish I could just get my money back.

Tested it for 3500 miles

I juste came back from a trip I’ve made from Central Florida to Fort Sill in Oklahoma. I ised Co-Pilot for this trip and overall it behaved amazing. I LOVED the feature were you can find the next Rest Are ON YOUR ROUTE as we used them often. But if you don’t use rest areas you also have RV Parks and camping areas among a ton of other POI. In regards to what other people mentioned about taking you to places were you get stuck this is something EVERY GPS software does, is just a matter of common sense. I really hope the developers of Co-Pilot have the chance to keep developing this software in the future. Anothe feature I LOVED was thw fact that it tells you the amount of traffic in the upcoming 45 miles so you are ready before hand when that comes. Thank you developers! Keep up the amazong work you guys do!

RV Navigation

I am still running on the trial. We are using it to go from Texas back to Michigan with 3 KOA stops. There isn’t any tricky routing issues on this trip but the trip planner was helpful in planning the trek home. Being able to pick from several possible routes is nice. The voice turn by turn has worked well and if we finally decide to subscribe we will add that feature. The issues that keep me from just clicking on the Buy Now buttonthe are the lack of CarPlay projection of the map and there isn’t a description of the next action until you are fairly close to needing to execute it. In an RV and dealing with heavy traffic sometimes the verbal description of the next action gets lost and having a set of symbols describing what to do next is extremely helpful. We did put the phone in a cup holder mount so that I could see the screen, but it is not in a convenient position to just glance at it. For this to really work I will need to figure out how to mount the phone next to the trailer’s RVC display in such a way that the sun coming in through the windshield doesn’t overheat it. One feature that would clinch the deal, but it doesn’t have, is a button to tell the app to stop navigating while we take a detour or just visit a rest area. Resuming the routing would have it recalculate where it is and update the routing. We do have Waze running at the same time to get the road conditions and to display the map on the dash. It isn’t doing any routing though

Finally fixed

It took over four months to finally fix something that should have been a minor update as soon as customers where reporting the problem. Trimble needs to be doing a better job than that. A rendering problem on something that is inherently graphical is a show stopper. Most people pay a monthly fee for this software. I’ve been a long term user of their software and it’s going to take a lot for them to regain my trust after all the broken promises and delays. Hopefully the newest update doesn’t introduce any new bugs to the mess. Having said that, it’s nice that the broken features are back and functioning. When it works properly, it’s pretty much the best truck navigation available. You guys really ought to be using testflight to test changes with willing actual users before releasing updates that break existing functionality.

This thing almost killed us!!!

If I could give it negative rating I would . This guided us into a closed road with our 45 ft motor home and 25 ft trailer. A very narrow rd. There was also a rr track paralleling the rd and a few trains came along while we were trying to figure out what to do. Tried to back up into a rd that was crossing the track but it was uphill and we were blocking traffic as well as it would have left the trailer on the tracks if a train came along as there wasn’t a long distance and was onto the tracks as well. There was a narrow driveway with a ditch on both sides ahead and only because my husband has experience with tractors with trailers was he able to back in and get us out of there. If he had not been as experienced as he was we would have had to pay for a tow out of there, they would have had to unhook the trailer with the car and tow the motor home backwards then we would have had to have the trailer turned around and towed it back to the motor home to be hooked back up. After we did get ourselves out of there the app kept trying to reroute us back at which time we turned it off and guessed our way out of the town and back to the interstate. This took place because we relied on it to go from the campground we were at to the interstate. I am on a trial for this app and nowhere can I find out how to opt out so before you start your trial period find out how to get out of it first.
