Paceboard

I have used this app with several patients who have dysarthria and it works so great to help them improve their speech intelligibility. I also like the conversation starters and the ability to set the speed so that you can be faster or slower if needed. The visual feedback of seeing the “too quick” message really gives the patient feedback about their performance. Thank you for this app! It has helped many people communicate effectively.

Biofeedback is great!

I can already see the value in this app, can’t wait to try it. This can also be used with cluttering!

Information insufficient/ app deficient

I took a leap of faith when I purchased this app today to help me with my speech speed. The app asks you to establish the speed per word regardless of how long the word is and you're supposed to hold the bubble as you speak. There is no standard as to what constitutes normal speech speed, so words like "I" will be shown as normal and "consequence" as too long! It is expensive and useless. I want a refund.

Blank White Screen

I paid $6.99, pressed “open” and then.... nothing. Just a blank white screen. Waited for possible delay in opening but it does nothing. How do I obtain a refund?

Fabulous results!

I used this during high school speech and language therapy today for the first time and I was blown away by the progress my students exhibited using this tool. I have one low cognitive student whose speech is generally unintelligible and does not speak in complete sentences. Well, using the topic prompts, he was able to answer in complete sentences and for the first time ever, his speech was 100% intelligible. All my students remained engaged using the tool and it is a wonderful visual support for establishing and maintaining the most appropriate rate for each student.

Text box is broken & instructions unclear!!

This app is supposed to help people, like me, who have Parkinson's Disease (PD) pace their speech. There are, at least, two things wrong with this app which render it useless.1. The text I am supposed to read is hidden behind the < > buttons at the top of the page, making the app useless.2. The instructions for the App are very unclear. For example, the "too quick" indication appears to me linked more to how long I touch the button, not the speed at which I read the text. Also am I supposed to press button 1, then button 2 etc., as I read through each sentence? The first button is always red, the second orange, and the third is yellow. Nowhere in the instructions is it explained what this means.7The developers have a lot more work to do on this App before I could recommend it to anyone - especially at $3.99!!

Description

Conversation Paceboard is a modern pacing board with visual cues. It helps individuals with unclear articulation and a fast speaking rate to pace their speech and improve their intelligibility in conversation. CORE FEATURES - A modern pacing board made of 6 interactive circles - Visual cues and feedback; the circles gradually fill with color when pressed at an adjustable speed - Several categories of conversation prompts to get the conversation started - Tactile cues on iPhone for additional feedback HOW IT WORKS The user is instructed to begin answering a conversation question and to hold a circle down each time they say a word or syllable.

Each circle gradually fills with color when pressed. When a circle has fully filled with color, the user should move to the next circle and say the next word or syllable. The speed at which each circle fills with color can be adjusted in order to help the user maintain the desired rate of speech. If the user moves to the next circle too quickly, "Too Fast!" will be displayed. BENEFITS Conversation Paceboard is ideal for people who have slurred speech/dysarthria due to Stroke, Brain Injury, Parkinson's Disease, Huntington's Disease, Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis (ALS), Multiple Sclerosis, Multiple Systems Atrophy, Progressive Supranuclear Palsy and Cerebral Palsy. See for yourself how effective a pacing board with additional visual cues and feedback can be!
