Unique and indispensable

I am a neurologist with a research interest in Alzheimer’s with no conflict of interest. I find that this program provides a unique combination of activities with proven benefit in the reversing cognitive decline. I suggest that it should be in the hands of patients as well as all physicians who are working with the wide population that is at risk for this problem.

Helpful App

I’m experiencing mild cognitive impairment at 62 yo in the form of short term memory issues. This app allows me to keep track of any changes easily. Today the reminder to do the cognitive memory test popped up on my device. The other part I use occasionally is the light frequency at 60 MHz. I wish it had a reminder because I frequently forget to do it.Most recently light at a different frequency has been found to be helpful but at the moment I can’t remember what the frequency is.

A must for everyone

I’m a old retired Pathologist with a PhD. There can be no question that this app and 40hz therapy is similar to doing physical therapy for the brain. As an experiment my wife and I are an N of 2 which means a very small data base, nevertheless we have noticed improvement in memory, mood, cognitive/decision making and sleep. We even noticed a decrease in cravings for sweets. We can feel the “brain burn”. The best is we play the games together at night sitting on the couch (2 devices). There is a lot of confusion about “is it 40 hz”? There is a phone app called STROBR that measures flashing light frequency. There are many ways to obtain 40hz light, sound and tactile stimulation but the games are fun and work the brain in sync. All devices should have 80hz requirements if only to hold back the avalanche of degenerative brain function in the aging population and I believe would relieve stress in younger people.

i’m 74. over the past several years, i’ve noticed “senior moments” a couple times per month. e.g. i’d go to the kitchen and then not remember what i was going to get. this isn’t a big deal really. that’s happened occasionally most of my life. but it’s been more frequent recently. i read about the 40 hz phenomenon in some science publication and built my own 40 hz sawtooth wave generator in software. i used it several hours per day for about a week. i noticed no particular effect from using it but... it’s been more than 6 months since then and i’ve not had a single “senior moment” since then. i now use this app instead of the 40 hz file i created. i’m not sure how often to use it now because, i still haven’t had any “senior” episodes so i do it occasionally.

Light therapy problem

The light therapy function of this program is only effective when used with an iPad Pro 10.5 inch from 2017 or newer. The app has that information buried in the faq page towards the bottom. If you have a newer iPad Pro, great, otherwise just stick to the sound function.

Thoughtless design

Thoughtless design aspects:1. Author erroneously believes that he can’t provide 40Hz stimulation via a 60Hz screen. This may be the case if you insist on 100% modulation intensity, but it is likely not the case if you provide sinusoidal modulation. 2. Author recommends use of external audio, but then does not use the APIs that make audio output selection available inside the app.

Only for iPad pros 2017 and older

What good is an app that only runs on two devices? I am thankful there was a one month free trial and that I read through the help questions to find out that my brand new 2019 iPad Air cannot achieve the screen refresh rate needed for this software to be effective against dementia. That’s a huge deal and should be the very first thing you read about this application before you buy it. Update: raise stars to 4 for great customer service. The company contacted me to provide contact information for a company that sells the 40hz lights. There's also a 15% discount. With shipping it was less than $43.

My husband with Alzheimer’s believes it’s working

My husband is in the early stages of Alzheimer’s and believes this app is making a difference. That’s all I need to know to give it a 5-star rating. Kudos

Description

Brain Training with 40Hz Gamma Light and 40Hz Sound HIGHLIGHTS • Use 40Hz gamma light alone or combine with brain games • 40+ cognitive games designed for people with low computer skills: Sudoku, Tic-Tac-Toe, Clocks, and other brain games, from very easy to challenging • A personalized Life Coach that includes Guided Meditations, Exercises, Daily Planner, and more New research suggests that light and sound delivered at a certain frequency —40 flashes or clicks per second — appear to restart the natural 40Hz gamma rhythm of the brain and improve the brain functions. Separately, research has also shown that cognitive exercises could have a major effect on improving memory. The synergistic combination of 40Hz gamma light, sound and brain training games has the potential to improve the brain’s function better than either of these approaches alone by starting a positive feedback loop: 40Hz light could initiate neuronal synchronization that could trigger improved cognitive function, that, in turn, could trigger more neuronal synchronization.

HOW IT WORKS AlzLife delivers a combination of 40Hz light, 40Hz sound, cognitive exercises, and a personalized Life Coach in a single, easy-to-use, convenient package. HOW TO USE ALZLIFE We recommend using your AlzLife app for one hour a day. If the 40Hz gamma frequency flicker is too bothersome, start using the app with the light settings set to a minimum. Most people will get used to the flicker over several sessions. If you stop noticing the flicker, you may want to increase the intensity within the app’s Settings. Start with games you are familiar with, then continue with as many games as possible. We recommend starting at an easy level and slowly increasing the game difficulty to a level that is challenging but not uncomfortable. COMPATIBLE DEVICES The 40Hz gamma light function of AlzLife requires the refresh rate of your device’s screen to be 120Hz. Devices with the required refresh rate include iPad Pro 2017 and newer and iPhone 13 Pro and newer. All other devices (including all other iPhones, iPads, smartphones, and laptops) operate at 60Hz. SUBSCRIPTION The FREE version of AlzLife provides access to 40Hz gamma light, 40Hz gamma sound, and easy level of each game. More challenging levels require a subscription. The most popular subscription plan is $79.99 yearly and pays for the development of new cognitive activities that are added each month. • Subscription will be charged to iTunes Account at confirmation of purchase. • Subscription automatically renews unless auto-renew is turned off at least 24-hours before the end of the current period. • You can turn off auto-renewal by going to the user's Account Settings after purchase. • Any unused portion of a free trial period, if offered, will be forfeited when the user purchases a subscription to that plan. Full terms of service can be found at https://www.alz.life/terms-of-service/ Privacy Policy: https://www.alz.life/privacy-policy/ This app has not been approved by FDA for cure, mitigation, treatment, or prevention of disease.
