Well polished; A fantastic game
I haven't written an AppStore review in over a year, but since this app is on the rise I figured I should address it's excellence.For one, the graphics are fantastic. Everything moves well, colors pop; there isn't a moment in the game where something on screen isn't moving, which some may consider annoying, but it adds to the retro integrity of the game.On an originality level, this game scores about a 8 of 10. I've seen puzzle games on the AppStore, I've seen 16-bit RPGs on the AppStore, and this is a very comfortable coalescence of the two.Lastly, I love how you can play the game at a quick pace or slow pace, without one being more or less fun than the other. Overall, this game has put a lot of excitement into my iOS gaming experience, and I'd say it has potential, but in my book, it's already reached the top.
Great Minus Boss Difficulty
Balance boss battles and normal battles. Normal battles are way too easy, bosses way too hard. Would be way more fun if this was balanced.Dev is fixed many bugs including most mentioned in other reviews within a week of launch! Should have been tested more (I'm sure lesson learned), but obviously also a labor of love by small (one man?) team. Really cool mix of matching and RPG with great graphics. Assuming this gets continued updates it deserves 4 stars at least and support. Keep making this genere better devs and support paid apps with no iap. Don't bury this with 1 stars when floppy burd shoots to the top of the app store.
Great game but the devil is in the details
It's definitely fun for burning time but gets old very quick. Also when you buy equipment you have to pay star blocks to equip.....every time you play! Ridiculous, makes the game lose replay value almost immediately and makes me think the developer either didn't think through the gameplay and test, or was just being greedy for iapp. Great game concept just poor execution on many fronts including bosses that usually decimate you when you blew through all the normal levels. Needs a lot of updates and improvements then could be an epic game because the concept was great, just failed to deliver in the end.
Missed my train stop.
It’s a rather straightforward game with very addictive qualities. It’s made my commute fly by and have missed my stop a duple times already because of being so involved in the game. I only wish you could start over on the level after the last major boss you defeated. Having to start over from the very beginning of the game each time gets frustrating. Otherwise, it’s a super fun game. Looking forward to the updates!
Super Fun Brick smashing Roguelike
Can't believe I let this sit on my wishlist for so long. Now I'm making up for lost time playing the heck out of this addictive little gem. There are tons of characters and areas to unlock, and random NPC in villages along the way to spice things up buy offering power ups, a new quest, even to transport you to a totally different area for awhile. When you die you lose all your gold and levels which is a little frustrating but you don't lose your stars that unlock new stuff. Anyone that loves block breakers or RPGs should get this. It's one of the most enjoyable games I've played in awhile.
Good Ideas...Could Be Better
This game's mechanics are great. Playing the puzzle battles is fun. Here are the problems though: the game feels like it should have IAP's because everything is so expensive in game, including unlocking characters and being able to start a game with items you bought in your previous playthrough, there are no indicators sometimes that the areas you are going to will be more difficult than your character can handle, the game is basically a runner in puzzle form, there's no story and no appealing characters, and you can't carry over your character's level in your next playthrough with that character, which makes playing again feel repetitive. This game has so much potential if some of these things were fixed.
Great game with no IAP but still buggy
I bought this game at release based on the great review from Touch Arcade. The game is fun and I love the game does not force IAP or Facebook integration. I realize the developer has been working to fix the bugs but some things need to be addressed:- Game crashes on my iPhone 5 after I complete a run- The combos for matching the same items do not consistently work - The quests are not showing the progress they should, which may have to do with the game crashing- The bosses, especially by the third one, usually crush you no matter what- The bottom of the playing field gets cluttered with unmatchable items as you progress and besides the golden swords and the scramble item you might run across there is little way you can change the board. If the game automatically scrambles the board due to no matches present, it punishes you by knocking 25% of your heart life. I would like to see more ways to change the playing field.This is a 5 star game at heart when everything gets ironed out. Please support this developer and his business model or be prepared to see more freemium crap. I look forward to future updates.
Equipment bug.
Equipment says it changes stats but doesn't actually do anything. +7 vitality should give me a lot more hp and better shield but doesn't. Same when I wear an item that raises str +3, I still hit for the same amount with sword tiles.I don't think crit actually does anything. I got up to 15 agility and still never see a 1.5x or 2x attack. I did actually evade one attack completely (I was under the impression evasion didn't work either)Shield defense seems odd too like i get hit and have left over shield but still take damage, if this is part of evasion don't take away hp before the entire shield is depleted. Other than a lot of the numbers being messed up and other various small bugs the game is pretty fun. Bosses are hard but would be easier if equipment worked.
Matching/Puzzle/RPG fun
Great game for my matching/puzzle/RPG fix. This game has great progression with easily-obtainable unlockables. It is definitely a gem. Game runs fine on my iP5.Update 6/10. Not sure what happened but I can't proceed any further now. When I die the game crashes and I lose my progress every time. It's so frustrating, because I'll stop playing for a while, then play it again when bored, have it crash on me, and then remember exactly why I haven't played it in a while. Would love to uninstall and reinstall but would hate to lose all of my progress. What a bummer.. I really like this one. Please fix your app.
Good Concept With A Big Flaw
Enjoyable play, but the display on my iPad mini is bad. It is too zoomed in, so I can’t see the edges of the display and know what is what.
