Unforgivable offense

So sad! Random dice....MY #*#* This game is such a scam!!! You win when you buy coins. Then, with each update you fall from the good graces of the games creators. This is the type of fraud (APP) that Apple should take a closer look into and investigate cheats. I’ve been playing this particular app for a couple years now. I know its seems like a waste of time, but I kept a separate tab of my rolls and they did not match the game stats. Its rigged and you’ll see if you keep your own stats. When the only roll that can take you out occurs time and time again, compared to reality, you’ll wonder why and how the app creators are allowed to sell in the App Store. The worst part, is I truly love the game of backgammon, this app with all its boards and great effects means nothing, when its lost the respect of those that love the game. Remember, when the first dice are admittedly fixed, the rest of the game is too. Win or Lose, it feels cheap when you look back at the dice and when/how they were rolled.

FAIR...no

So I’ve been playing this game for over a year, and maintain a 51% win percentage in the game with 2,690 games completed. This is not to brag, but to give perspective on having a very good idea of how this game operates. Initially, I installed this to play family and for that it was great. However as time progressed, I noticed that more often than not, the exact dice rolls to put you out of a victory even when you’ve been strategically placing your pips the entire game. The idea of “fair dice” for me does not hold water. Of all the backgammon apps I have played thus far, I can say with regard to dice, this app has actually been one of the worst when compared to others in dice. It looks so blatantly obvious at times that I am uninstalling and moving to another app.Fair dice was a install ploy - don’t fall for it.

Great game, though does allow opponent to cheat.

I have noticed lots of doubles on opening rolls. Moreso than in real life, though I've had games in real life where we've gotten 3 doubles in a row in the opening, just not as frequently as in this game. That being said, and understanding that true random doesn't exist in an app, both players are playing in the same environment, so it's still fair. In my real life games, I've started paying closer attention to dice rolls and I'm constantly amazed by how often I'll get the exact right number then followed by something like 3 doubles in a row. I don't question in because obviously my real life dice are random. I think I only question the game dice sometimes because I'm paying closer attention. I think they are as random as possible for an electronic game. I only have one real issue, and it's the reason I gave 4 stars: if an opponent realizes they are going to lose with a backgammon, they can wait out the clock and lose with only a gammon when the timer runs out, allowing them to cheat. It's incredibly frustrating and seems like it would be an easy fix. This still occurs with the confirm moves (or whatever it's called) option enabled. Would love it if this was fixed because man is it frustrating. Perhaps add a way to report players who cheat in this way. Other than that, love the game! Thanks for making it!

Hmmmm... it’s good, but...

I’ll start this off with stating I really wanted to like this game. The lure of FAIR dice is what enticed me to download the game, but I can honestly say, compared to other backgammon computer games I’ve played, the dice feel more natural and fair. However... I’ve been playing in training mode (just NOT interested in playing against real people) but it definitely feels that the more I play, the more difficult it gets. And I noticed little to zero difference between NOVICE and APPRENTICE modes. It feels like I’m playing against an expert player. I play this game to de-stress after a long day at work and sometimes just don’t have the mental capacity at the end of the day for a hardcore game. The beginning was GREAT... but the computer is shutting me down to where I’m just not enjoying it anymore. I think the game has real potential and is probably GREAT for higher level strategic players, but it’s just not working for me. I used to play real backgammon for years with my brother... we’re both non-skilled players, but it was just family fun. That’s the experience I’m looking for.

FAIR DICE!!!

Only app I’ve found where the dice are actually random. Sometimes in your favor... sometimes the opponents. It comes down to how you play your chips, and that’s how it should be! Thank you, thank you, THANK YOU!!! When people complain about dice being unfair on this app, it’s due to them being sore losers. You’ll notice that these cry babies will have okay statistics for winning and losing (which can happen to any player), but more importantly, they will always have an awful skill rating because every move is ranked and they don’t have any strategy or skill. Anybody can win the game with almost zero knowledge of how to play, but the longer you have it go on while adding skill and strategy, the better your chances of winning are. The game takes five minutes to learn, but a lifetime to master!

The dice are NOT random!

The dice are definitely not random. While playing a practice game, I I was called away for a few minutes. I returned and completed the game, and was called away again. When I came back, the app asked if I wanted to continue the game. I was puzzled, but tapped yes to resume. I was returned to the point in the game where I was called away the first time. I played out the game, and it was obvious that EACH AND EVERY ONE OF MY ROLLS WAS EXACTLY THE SAME AS IT HAD BEEN BEFORE! I can’t be sure, but I believe the rolls for the AI opponent were the same, as well. It was as if I was playing out a script. I would not believe the claim of fair dice, as they are clearly not random. And I deleted the game.EDIT: Is the developer response suggesting that a random number generator should be EXPECTED to produce two identical sequences of 20 or so rolls? Seriously?

The dice are fair…I did the math

I kept reading reviews about unfair dice after my dad kept saying I was unfairly lucky, and I totally didn’t agree. Eventually I decided to do the math. Statistically, one has a 16.7% chance of rolling a double with two 6-sided dice. So after 3 matches with my dad, I checked the game stats. The average was roughly around 16%. One match was highly skewed for double 6’s for him, but otherwise they were pretty normal. There will always be statistical anomalies, and no evidence exists that I’m getting better rolls as a rule than my dad (if anything, he is!). Before rating this app less than it deserves because of unfair dice, do what you will, but I recommend you do some math first. I love this developers version of backgammon (and the paid version too)! Keep up the great work!

Won’t enforce backgammon!!

Would be five stars, but (at least on the iPhone app) the game won’t enforce a backgammon! For example, if you are behind with lots of chips on the bar, all you have to do is resign and you will just lose a gammon. What?!? That let’s you weasel your way out of a proper backgammon win for your opponent. The same thing happens if your opponent lets the clock run out with chips still in your inner court. They only lose a gammon instead of the backgammon. I and every player i have ever met say that when a person loses, for whatever reason, they should lose based on the position they are in.While there are a few other subjective things I would like to see improved, not enforcing a backgammon should be at the top of their fix list.

Fave backgammon app

I switched over to this app after reading reviews about the dice rolls being fair, and I have found this to be accurate. I was playing on another app for a long time, and it turned out to be mostly bots that I was playing, rigged dice and no way to communicate with other players. I love playing other people around the world, and the ability for (limited) communication and reaction while playing is really fun (although if you constantly tell me to hurry up, and use the angry emoji, I will do the exact opposite of that, and then I’ll take your gold!). We live in crazy times, it’s really nice to be able to connect with other players all around the world, share kind words and have a real game based on skill and the luck of the dice. I also love that I can play for free, with the option of watching an ad to scrape up enough gold to get rolling again. Good game!

Fixed games. All scam

I am one of the first member of this club. Almost 8 years ago. I everything was perfect for the first 3 years or 4 years. Then you programmed the dice. No more fair dice generator. I was the 1st member that brought that up. Then many other players reached to that conclusion that the dice is predictable and follows a pre-defined algorithm to make the game more action then more doubles then more coin sell. You keep saying the same lie about the dice generator. You don’t need to lie. Just say it is what it is.Mod is trained to mute players who object or complain about the fixed dice or back to back special rolls that changes the game specially bigger games. You need to check how many player object about the unfair rolls, cheats during the day on main chat and getting instantly mute. It used to be ok in general, now it is ZERO. Bad for Apple store to have all similar backgammon apps here.
