Mph??? Where to find.

Someone posted that they were able to switch to mph in. When in settings, click on more on bottom right task bar then click units.

Functional eye candy

I've had this app awhile and am very happy with it. It is soo many apps in one hot little package. I use it mainly for sailing, sometimes driving, or even use the gps to locate my position on a map while horseback riding back country. It is very accurate. I can plot a course on inavx(another great app) and use ihud in knotts mode to approximate arrival times to waypoints plotted. Night sailing is a lot of fun and easy to read the beautiful display ihud provides. So many applications for this and I love the customizing options as well. I also appreciate all the frequent updates the developer sends out. That truly speaks volumes to the consumer that the developer really cares about us and their product. Great job! -Wick

Heads Up is a great Feature

I have used HUD for over a year now. It is really useful to be able to see a digital display in your windshield at night. And a positive display in the day time. It shows speed compass heading and other info that is useful. The speed flashes red when you exceed your current speed a bit, even when driving a safe speed. If they could connect to the speed limit database for roads like they have on GPS devices it would be very useful; otherwise I'd suggest it be eliminated. I like knowing my true speed and altitude. It also shows distance from home if you turned it on at home. That's nice. Overall I think this is a unique and useful app. Keep up the good work. Jim from Woodbridge, VA.

Works great, easy operation

Took me a second to realize that I had to tap "HUD" in order to mirror the display. Everything else is under the tool menu (self-explanatory tool icon). Also, cool feature is a satellite dish icon which, when tapped, brings up detailed readings and measurements about your location (including coordinates). But it gets better; you can adjust the opacity of the latter display, so your speed is still visible. Very cool. I thought I'd be smart and mess with it, but the default opacity turned out to be the perfect amount. Bottom line? The app is perfect as-is.

Nice app, but needs another patch for iPhone 4...

A very nice app that executes its feature-set very well. I do, however, have one bug that kept me at a 4-star rating: For some reason, on my iPhone 4, my preferences keep being lost. Since I alter pretty much every single one of them, this is quite frustrating. (As iPhone 4's haven't even been out a week yet, I assume this will be fixed in an update.)Also, it'd be nice if I could set the home location--which is used for a distance and bearing--to any place on the map by dropping a pin instead of only at the place I'm at. This is useful for when I know where I want to go, rather than want to get back to where I am later.

Needs update to support iPhone X screen size (and iPhone 6?)

This app needs an update to support the screen sizes of modern phones, and to have a more intuitive and modern user interface.

Description

aSmartHUD is simple and clear vehicle digital dashboard featured by - HUD mode - SHORT-TERM WEATHER FORECAST - IPOD MUSIC PLAYLIST CONTROL - PHOTO CAMERA WITH IMAGE MARKING - ADJUSTABLE TRANSPARENCY APPLE MAPS SCREEN It visualizes your - current speed, - average speed, - current time, - elapsed trip time, - heading, - altitude, - trip elapsed time, - distance/time/direction to home location, - weather forecast for nearest 48 hours the with 3-hour time interval, - direct distance (kilometers, miles, nautical miles supported) to the starting point of your trip. - maximum reached speed, altitude and distance to start point, for the current trip and all the trips your ever did. Comparing with others HUD displays on the market - better look and more features for no price. Tapping the "HUD" icon mirrors all the text, so if you position the iPhone horizontally under your car's windscreen you can see perfectly readable half-transparent reflection of the picture displayed.

We love this mode! We found it much more convenient compared to traditional car dashboards (especially on the roads of Western Europe, which are full of speed cameras and where you need to watch your speedometer all the time). And last but not the least - it just looks cool.
Note: this mode works pretty well at night time and twilight, but on direct sunlight the screen brightness can be insufficient. - "aSmart HUD" can keep track on 4 speed limits, giving a warning (sound and visual) each time you crossing it. Normally, it's legal speed limits within cities, local roads and high-speed motorways. "Never exceed speed" is the speed you should not exceed under any conditions. For example, it can be a technical limit of your vehicle or the point where government can arrest your driving license. - You can skip/rewind/play/pause your current iPod music track, select the playlist or set the Shuffle or Repeat iPod mode. - Weather forecast time intervals and temperature units (C, F) are selectable in Preferences. - You can quickly take a photo of what's going on the road. Photo will be automatically saved into the Photos Album. The speedometer image, map and a some of other useful information will be placed over your photo. - Landscape and Portrait screen layouts support. - Three different compass styles, sound themes, colors, etc. - 4 functionally different display themes. - Speed history log chart. - "Location Info" - longitude and latitude, GPS measurement precision and some more data. - "Records" screen (left upper button on the "Location Info" screen), where you can see your maximum reached speed (during the current trip or all of your trips), maximum altitude and maximum distance from start. - Tap the speed indicator to switch into speed fullscreen mode. IMPORTANT: for more screenshots and details visit the http://atoll-ordenadores.com website Limitations - The precision is affected by the satellite signal quality. If unsure, use the program only for reference, don't rely on it for 100%. Application requires real A-GPS chip - so, no iPod and not-3G iPad supported. On iPad 3G application function only in "double pixel" mode. Thanks to everyone for your suggestions about additional functionality!
