Proofread and Directions

The very first problem had an issue and the math problem given was not written correctly and in fact could not be calculated. Secondly what is the goal of this app? If it is in fact to assist students in learning or reinforcing the algebraic concepts then one would think it would have been written to give feedback along the way waiting until the end of the session and giving the number correct does not help with building knowledge because the user does not know what they did incorrectly or have the opportunity to revisit the problem. The next issue is the concept of subtracting numbers, the golden rule of algebra is you should never subtract in algebra, the process should be replacing subtraction by adding negatives. Lastly I can not develop a reason to have algebraic equations timed. They are multi-stepped and the programmer put incorrect blocks in place along with correct block which is very miss leading and time consuming. If the user is learning the concepts they are wasting time trying to solve problems based on incorrect given information. Perhaps the most frustrating of all is the fact the program has great potential. The layout and functionality of the work-space is very user friendly and the visual approach to learning numbers as a building block supports the idea that a student must show their steps. The developer was on to something great and sadly turned toward the game concept by putting a time and score to the problem. If the overseeing idea was to use the app as an educational tool to reinforce learning, and support concept understanding this app could flourish. Math teachers are always looking for ways to supplement their teaching and build understanding with self guided activities the move at a child’s pace and support their understanding by showing the correct answer and revisiting the problem so the student can gain the knowledge that has yet to become theirs. With alittle work this could be great!

Won’t load.

Super sad that I haven’t been able to try this. Was looking forward to using it for summer school practice with my kids.

Great game!

Fun and great to use to review solving equations! No technical problems, that must have been a previous version.
