Difficult concepts

These are difficult concepts to grasp and often more difficult to use, as we have years of conditioned behavior and our egos (whether optimistic or pessimistic) are strong. I can see that it could take years or a lifetime to gradually live a life that acknowledges our inseparable link to God (or what ever term you use) and everything in our universe. Guess I’ve been headed in this direction since early teenage years, when I was totally captivated by transcendental authors like Emerson and Thoreau.

Reminders not working

I have an iPhone 7 using the latest IOS 15.4.1. I went into the app’s Settings to configure it for the Reminders. Didn’t work. Verified my phone’s Setup allowed Notifications for the app. Turned my phone off then on. Went into the app’s Setup again and toggled the off/on button for the heck of it. Notifications still don’t work. What’s up with that? Did I just waste $5.99?

Good reminder!

This app is very convenient. It is nice to have an app that automatically sets interval reminders. Only draw backs are accidentally shifting a setting or lesson resets the reminder toggle. And there a couple other less streamline aspects that make it a little awkward - so there is room to improve. However, this app is great for reminders throughout the day. I also love having work book text at my finger tips. Much gratitude for this app! Keeps me on course!

Works great with Apple Watch

The app is very helpful, and with the right attitude it can help you experience the ACIM workbook at a deep level. I started last year and didn't like the app and didn't get very far in the workbook. A new, more reverent attitude, and it is perfect :-). In the morning I set mylesson and my alerts on, and do my first exercuse using the reminder text and the timer on the top right of that page. I love how the reminders go straight to my watch. I still open the phone and use the reminder text and the timer on that page for each session, but having the reminder go to my watch is hugely helpful. Great job; thanks.

One easy location for the practice

What I like about this app is the ability to access the full text and the reminder texts. If I forget what the purpose was or how to do the exercise I can always reference the full text. However I have not been able to get the reminders to work despite setting and resetting them and turning on every possible notification on my iPhone setting; it has been utterly frustrating...as that was the original reason for purchasing the app

Reminders Don't Function As Expected

Love this app but why, when I get a reminder, am I just getting the info under Today's Lessons? When I click on the notification, the app takes me to Today's Lessons, not to the Reminder Text that I have set up. Also, I realize this adds a whole other level of complexity, but if I create a Reminder Text, it should save so I can look at it in the future once I have gone on to other lessons.concerning the above, I saw a response from the developers that all I had to do was leave the app opened to the reminder text and that would be what would open if I clicked on the notice. I CAN ASSURE YOU THIS IS NOY THE CASE FOR ME. I have the reminder text up and go off to other apps to check email or whatever. When the alert goes off, iPhone open to some other app, I touch on the alert and go right to the screen that allows me to pick the lesson for the day, not the reminder text. I have experienced this over and over again. So the answer posted from the developers did not solve my issue.

Excellent Idea, Only OK Execution

I love this idea. Enough to overlook its flaws. This app is so American in its mindset it's almost laughable. The approach says without irony 'I will follow this approach perfectly and conquer its meaning. The problem is in its functionality. The app is just not well executed. As an example I have not yet been able to get the reminders to work properly. And most of the features are fussy and not intuitive. Perhaps some fixes are on the way, and a disclaimer, ACIM is a self study guide that works best when you approach it with humanity. Of course the app will follow the daily exercises perfectly, but you will not, weed hopper, for you are a human.

Must have for ACIM students

I do not see how anyone can do the Course without this app. Even WITH the reminders it’s hard but would be impossible for me without. I like how I can customize the reminders and I like the fact that the full text of the lessons is included. I wish the times were more customizable. For instance for the once an hour reminders the only choices you have you have are on the hour or on the half hour— I would prefer to be able to set it any time. I’m often busy right on the hour (as many people are) and would like to be able to set it for, say, 8:50. Once in a while I don’t get my alerts even though alerts are ON and I have no idea why. I think closing down the app entirely and back on solves the mysterious problem. I like the choice of notification sounds but would love even more to choose from. I like to change the sound from time to time so that the sound catches my attention and doesn’t become so common I ignore it. Another suggestion is to have the alerts on/off toggle be on the settings page and reminders page as well the Today’s Lesson page so that if you make any changes, you can turn the alerts back on right there rather than having to remember to go to today’s lesson to turn alerts back on. Thanks for a great app. Worth the cost many times over!

Yes this is more than worth it!

Just finished all the workbook lessons (took about 14 months) and realized how helpful this app has been. I used it every day for over a year. Much easier than carrying the book around (big understatement). If you’re thinking of getting it, just get it. It took me a little bit to realize you have to set the lesson for the day each day yourself. It will not automatically go to the next lesson for you. You get a reminder to do it, but you have to tell it what lesson you want to be reminded of each day. Since I repeated some lessons over a course of 2-3 days, this made sense for me.

Extremely helpful

Felt guided to do the workbook lessons again this year yet I’m currently working four 24 hour shifts a week. Was concerned that schedule would make it extremely difficult this time around. Not sure where I discovered this app, maybe on the foundation for ACIM or for Inner Peace, but decided to pay the small one time fee in case it could help. It has already paid off repeatedly and I’m only on day 10. Thanks so much for this Godsend.

Description

The FOUNDATION FOR INNER PEACE, original publisher of "A Course in Miracles," has joined with CDE Solutions to produce this app as an aid to those working on their daily lessons from the Workbook of the Course. -- NOW AVAILABLE IN 5 LANGUAGES: English, French, German, Portuguese and Spanish. As a student of the Course have you ever spent time studying your lesson in the morning only to forget to review it at the suggested time intervals during the day? Have you ever wished that you had reminders, preset at the required time intervals, to jog your memory?

Have you ever remembered to review a lesson but forgot what words to use? If so, then this app is for you! In addition to providing convenient access to the full text of the 365 daily lessons from the Course's "Workbook for Students," THIS APP HAS BUILT-IN REMINDER ALERTS which have been preset with specific text to be remembered for the day and the time intervals as suggested within the lessons of the Workbook. For lessons that have no suggested time intervals, you can select a time interval of your choice. You can even override Course specified intervals to time intervals of your choice that fit in with your daily schedule. The app is simple to use. To begin you would select the lesson you are currently working on from a rotating "wheel," then when the wheel stops on your lesson of the day you click on "Full Text" and you are presented with the full text of the lesson. Once your beginning lesson has been selected you will be presented with the same lesson when you return the next day. This allows you review the previous lesson, or move on to your daily lesson. The complete Workbook, including Introductions, can be accessed from the wheel. During the day, shortened text (the words suggested within the Workbook lesson to be used as the reminder that day) is presented when the reminder alert is sounded. These words can be changed to whatever words you would prefer to use instead. In addition, you can choose what sound you’d like to hear as a reminder, when you want the reminder to start, and when you want it to end. You purchase the app ONLY ONCE for all devices. About "A Course in Miracles": The Course’s teaching is based on the practice of forgiveness as the key to inner peace and the remembrance of God. While the app contains the text of the complete "Workbook for Students", it represents only part of the Course, a unique self-study metaphysical thought system. Published in one volume, "A Course in Miracles" consists of three separate sections: "Text", "Workbook for Students" and the "Manual for Teachers". The "Text" section of the Course sets forth the theoretical concepts of the Course's thought system and thus provides the necessary framework to clarify the meaning of the "Workbook" exercises. It is therefore important to undertake the lessons in this app in conjunction with the writings within "A Course in Miracles". "A Course in Miracles" was received in its entirety over a period of seven years by psychologist Dr. Helen Schucman through an inspired process she described as scribing. In 1975 the Foundation for Inner Peace, co-publisher of this app, was chosen by Dr. Schucman to be the publisher of the only original edition of "A Course in Miracles". The "Workbook for Students", contained in this app, includes 365 lessons which are designed to train your mind in a systematic way to a different perception of everyone and everything in the world. As stated in the Introduction to the Workbook: “The exercises are very simple. They do not require a great deal of time, and it does not matter where you do them. They need no preparation.” You are asked only not to undertake to do more than one exercise a day. You might however choose to remain with a particularly appealing lesson for more than one day.
