Beautiful app!!

I don't understand why some people complained about the app crashing.. I had no problems with the app. As an illustrator, I have to say that this app is beautifully done, the cats are just so very cute and charming, as are the rest of the animals. I love the handmade feel of the app and how different it looks from the other apps I see in the store. The story is lovely and the music as well. I can't stop tapping the vibraphone for music!

Beautiful music!

My first graders just love this story with the wonderful musical instruments! Each child wants to guess what instrument is played in the interactive game. The sound of each instrument is so clear and beautiful! It is easy for the children to manipulate the instruments and make them bigger or smaller as they move them around the screen. They want to hear this one over and over again!

Creative, Educational, and Beautifully Illustrated

Not only as a lover of Jazz, but also as the brother of two musicians and the son of two educators, I feel this App is wonderful for children, parents, and individuals who work with children on many levels. Besides teaching young people the way a Jazz ensemble is constructed and how Jazz musicians utilize improvisation, a skill used in life in all areas, not just the arts, this App encourages children to try something they may have not been exposed to or are not that familiar with. I am also Therapist and the research has proven that music education and education in the arts in other areas (i.e. drawing, storytelling) enhances learning in other subject areas (i.e. Math, Science). The more we expose children to the arts, the more academically successful and creative human beings they will become. I think this App is more that what it appears and its surplus meaning is significant. Thank you for making this piece of art to share with us.

Interactive Jazz for Small Children

This is a fun and unique story app for young children. In addition to hearing the story and having characters react when you press on them, this app demonstrates many of the instruments used in jazz with an opportunity to combine their sounds. The vibraphone is especially fun because you can tap the bars and play songs. My only suggestions for improvement are to eliminate the gender stereotypes with the trombones. Thanks!

A Jazzy World vs Jazzy Day

Jazzy World is VERY disappointing. Cute app if the sound worked. Some countries like Ireland work, other countries like Kenya there is no sound. Australia sound works on some but not on others or only works for half of the reading material. I am sorry I purchased and would like my money back if that were possible. If the sound worked I would be a very happy purchaser of the application and give it 5 stars. As it stands I wish I could give it no stars. For the price I Expect the product to work! I purchased Jazzy Day first, the quality on Jazzy World is very poor

Really Fun

This app is a lot of fun. There is a nice story about the elements of a large jazz band, as well as lots of other goodies - a "learn the instruments" section, a "find the instrument" game, and a vibraphone you can really play (with your fingers). In addition, when I had trouble with the app, the company wrote back to me twice, within hours. Very impressive!I look forward to more apps from The Melody Book.

This is such a wonderful app. Like a children's book that comes alive, and teaches kids about music. Highly recommended app for everyone, especially those who want to inspire young children's fascination with music. The app has several features, including "read myself," "read to me," and some educational games.Animations are really cute and the music is superb!

Great fun/educational app

This app is excellent for anyone who wants to introduce their children to jazz music at an early age. An app like this could be fundamental in a child's development, giving them a head start to any formal education. In addition, its quite fun, and a good excuse to involve both the parent and child. There is a story book portion that can either be read by the app itself or read without audio -- a great start to get a child reading and recognizing words. Then, there is a instrument recognition game, which can keep a kid busy for hours. The animation is fantastic, cute, and runs quite smoothly. The sound effects are clear and realistic; and this is coming from a musician.

Jazzy Rave!

My daughter is 15 & autistic (at time of review) and still doesn't read. We have reading time together and I try to get books and other sorts of things that are interactive for her to do on her own... This App is perfect!! 1: she loves music 2: touch controls are easy to use 3: she asks for iPad/touch and goes to favorite instruments and plays them over & over again. When we listen to music she can identify the different individual instruments in songs... 2 thumbs up!

Fun & Educational

This app is a really fun way for your kids to get to learn the different instruments in a Jazz band. The book is really cute and comes with an option to read the book to your kids yourself or have it read out loud by the app. The story explains the instruments a jazz band is comprised of, what the different functions of each instrument are and how they finally play music together in a really fun and easy to understand manner. The sounds are all first class and will surely inspire your child!
