User Reviews for 17 Mile Drive Audio Tour Guide

Well worth buying this app

The app worked perfectly for us and narrated details about points of interest shortly before we arrived at those points, which made it easier for us to decide if we wanted to park and look around on foot, or just view from the car. We've been to 17-mile drive several times and still learned new things from this app. We appreciated the “learn more” option to get even more info. A+, we would buy more audio tours from this app developer.

Best Option

Doing a DIY tour with this app is really the best option here. You have the total flexibility with your time and route. The app gives you route to follow but you can follow or go in any order. I faced no issues. The audio and images pops up automatically when you are close. The extra stories about the main stop can be selected manually. To get the most value out of the tour you should listen to the sub stops.

Great for the Price!

For just $5 you have a handy guide in your pocket. The information was interesting and the narrator engaging. The app has a very useful app and the guides Auto Play when you reach certain locations. The app made it easier to navigate and stop and learn about all the various locations. We really enjoyed the drive. Well Worth It!

Spectacular

We took the drive on a cloudy day. But it was wonderful to watch the scenic spectacular views along the coastline. We used this app and we were skeptical about all the tech stuff. But, oh boy, it doesn’t disappoint! We stopped at a lot ofPlaces and took pictures. This app helped in exploring all the sightseeing points and played interesting stories as we were about to reach each point. Wonderful Experience!

Excellent self-drive guide!

We played it in the car and listened, stopping at each place for as long as we wanted. My kids (11 & 13) first seemed put off by the idea of listening, bit quickly changed their minds begging me to start the audio before the car got moving again. Very cool that the app would auto-play as you got closer to each point!!One suggestion might be to play the audio before the point such as the Lone Cypress. We had to back track to see it.Also, perhaps a little fix to the “more” areas to continuously play even if the user goes back to the map?I really do wish I had an additional tour for Carmel and further south along the PCH. We drove the whole way and really really missed hearing all about it like we did in Monterey. I couldn’t find anything like it!

Good add-on to the drive

We did this drive on a great sunny day in April. The drive is beautiful and each stop had something new to look at. I especially enjoyed seeing the Lone Cypress - and the app had a really interesting animation for it. We had ample parking at all the stops. The timing of the app wasn’t perfect, but the directions were very clear. All in all, a nice trip.

Great way to see 17 mile road

Spent an afternoon with my family and the app guiding us through 17 mile road. The narrator is fun to listen to and we really liked the way the information started automatically as you reach the various waypoints. We also really liked the way the information was given in smaller bites but that there were optional ‘learn more’ tracks if you wanted to go into more detail at each stop. My wife, kids and I really enjoyed it.$5 for the tour and $10 for the drive is money exceptionally well spent!

Fun and informative

We have young kids in car seats and we can’t always get in and out and read all the signs that I would like to. This app was helpful so we could enjoy the drive and learn about the history and area all at once. I do wish it didn’t ask me so many times what I thought of the app. If you are using your phone as your camera, download the app on another person’s phone so you don’t have to keep unplugging it/switching back and forth.

Great app

Think of it as the Rick Steve’s of 17-mile. An upbeat shepherding voice to narrate while you drive. Really a great idea to seamlessly tour the spots without having to stop and read along the way. Very efficient option. Pro tip though: this is best used if you have a passenger serving as DJ and navigator. It doesn’t guide you to the next stop, as easy as the route may be. Helper can also DJ some of the additional “More” snippets and help navigate where the sites actually are, since the narration starts before you arrive at the spot. But overall a worthwhile purchase.

Great for locals and visitors, both

We had some visitors from Europe. We took them on the 17 mile drive. It was an extremely helpful app to have on the trip. Although, we live locally, I learnt some new facts today. The narrator has an enthusiastic voice. The GPS worked well. Overall, it made the trip much more enjoyable for us and our visitors from Europe.
