Amazing!!! But NEEDS Improvement!

First off let me say that the app is so amazing. However there are many crucial things I think it needs. -First of all a proper layering system like in Procreate or Pixelmator.-We need tons of more snapping features within the editing of individual shapes. Currently when you go to edit an individual shale it removes almost all snapping points. This make it incredibly hard to transform shapes into exactly how you want them.-Ability to import regular JPG files for reference. This would be really helpful and just for reference to overall shapes on actual pictures.-Ability to Erase parts of the shapes in the app. -Ability to have transparent background (checkerboard pattern) within the editing canvas.-Also one last thing that would be so amazing is adding some type of animation/gif creator. I make video games and there is huge potential for this app to be super useful for game designers. If there was simply a sort of story board on the bottom that had multiple images within an animation and then you could rotate and image slightly and move to the next image to rotate it again or adjust it to create simple animations. Then have the ability to export as .gif and as a file with all .png in it to then move over to the game engine. It seems like the app has all the ground work for that and it would be such an amazing addition. I hope you’ll take my feedback into consideration, thank you!

This app saved me

I’ve always been into art and design. I love creating but have struggled with learning major and advanced softwares such as adobe. Then I came across this app one day. I made some stupid robot collages with shapes and eventually got super good at creates logos on here. It’s helped my resume dramatically and given me so much confidence in what I’m able to accomplish. It’s a puzzle Bc not every shape fits and I have to layer upon layer to get the outcome I want. I really just want this to become acceptable in future work for the industry Bc it works well for me and helps me make stuff on the fly. My only complaint about this is the quality of exporting my work. Maybe I’m wrong but it feels like it’s not fully finished. I once sent my logo to a client and it went through but they weren’t able to save it or put it in their cover page. I had to go through a hassle of steps just to make it work which I think lead me to just screenshotting it on my phone, which will lead to problems down the line. All in all I love the app. I’ve designed numerous amounts of logos on here and am excited for what more I can learn with it. Thank you

Would give 5 stars but...

So I would say it’s a “my device thing” but now I’m fully convinced it’s an app thing. First off I’m using a brand new iPad Pro and when I use the app on my phone I’m using an iPhone 11. The app from the beginning, I thought, this is amazing! Especially if you are staring off in the design world or just want a different creative outlet other than freehand drawing. Here’s where the issues arise... yes sometimes your work gets deleted as some other reviews have said. it happened more before (a couple months ago) than it does now but it will show up on the preview page and when you open it the meltdown inside of you starts because you have lost potentially hours of work. But recently the worst thing happened. I spent 6 hours on a project.. and on that 6th hour the app crashed, ok.. weird, no problem just reboot it. Keeps crashing every time I try to open that project. I have tried everything to get this project back but it’s unreachable. IT WONT STOP CRASHING. I’m so devastated because I forgivingly started another project today thinking it was just a glitch on that one thing I was doing and it did it again, another project that I can’t touch. I paid for a whole year for an app that I can’t even use. So disappointed and heartbroken. I was using this to create art for my business and now I have to find something else.

Assembly

If you take the time to discover its almost limitless possibilities, you will have trouble putting your iPad down. Not only are there hundreds of shapes to start with, the shapes are almost infinitely changeable. The learning curve is a little steep: you have to tap everything before moving it. You have to figure out how to move, as opposed to change, a shape. The rules of play are initially a little strict: you can’t really draw your own objects from scratch, you can’t paint or draw per se, you have to think outside the shape. A little more specific explanation about the functions in the help menu would save some time. But after playing with it a while, you will find yourself moving and altering shapes in your sleep. I am deliciously obsessed with its possibilities. One important tip: if you find it lagging, restart your iPad. Love love love it. Thank you.

Never Any New Shapes Added

There haven't been new shape packs added in many years and I'm sick of that. What was the point of making the in-app purchase for unlimited shapes back in the day before you got greedy with this subscription crap, if you're never adding any new shapes? So sick of this apathy. This app and developer was so much better when they sold this once great app as a premium program for one fair price. But, ever since they became greedy with the subscription garbage this app has become much worse and the developer now apparently has zero incentive to add new shapes to the program. And why would they? They are already getting money per month or per year without having to justify those ridiculous fees with new content like shape packs. This stinks now. I hope a competitor app comes out one day who will be ethical and offer their app as premium and be moral enough to keep it that way. And who will also honor past purchases like the unlimited shapes pack that we bought here that isn't honored anymore. I'm very exhausted by all the greed in the iOS App Store today.

You expect me to pay 3.99 a WEEK

Haha haha. This app is so horrible that it crashes when I try to sign up for the subscription. Back to illustrator. Edit 2020 the app no longer seems useable. It won’t create new projects without massive lag and once a project is created it crashes. That’s what they get for taking a good thing and breaking it for subscription based. Great up. BUT after the last update the app has been crippled in terms of usability. It’s like touch a shape wait 3 minutes move the shape wait 3 minutes. I am sure it’s not my device because my iPad Pro has the same problem.Minus one star for this the drag. Wow.. and I can not believe this app has moved to a subscription based offer. I am glad I paid the one time price when I did. Minus another star because the developers implementation of a model which nickels and dimes new users. I have told so many people about this app and I regret I'm not going to do so any more. If the developers don't have anything but the end users wallet in their priorities there is no way I can recommend it to amigos. Of course if you provide new features and nag me to death to upgrade I'll reduce to one star and delete the app and go back to illustrator.

ASSEMBLY: Nice Updates!

• The new and evolving features in Assembly reflect the devs knowledge of design and what tools can be useful for photographers and designers. • Assembly’s updates are meaningful, stable and enhance my work. • Apple recently moved to a subscription model for iPhones (and more) and “gently pushed” devs to realize the fair value for the apps/art/tools they create. • 99¢ apps are long gone and devs deserve the value of their work—subscriptions are the future. • I AGREE. • DEVS ARE PEOPLE TOO!• There’s a trial version and a very fairly priced subscription version. • Legacy Owners HAVE been given time before subscription pricing activated. ••••EDIT••••• I was out of the USA, away from phones and computers (seriously nice), and just returned about three days ago...I think. (SERIOUS jet lag.)• Devs slapped me upside the head with kindness, great service, and supportive answer. • I hereby rewrite my review to reflect the amazing Assembly app and the dev’s truly genuine solution. (I waved my hands around in the air to make this officially and worthy of using the word “hereby”.)• I should have emailed the devs before I went whining like a whining person on the Review pages—I ALWAYS FORGET to do that! Dam TBI!• THAT’S WHY “Contact Us” PAGES WERE INVENTED!• Thank you, Pixite. • Still besties?

Sketchy Features claims - not as listed

I wanted a vector draw app that can import PNG, PDF, and JPG files. The features list said it could. It can’t. Then the description was updated. It still can’t. The app does not do as the features claim:PNGsWell, if you have a PNG on your camera roll, you can add that to an open artwork. But you have to look inside the menu, inside some “Art board” area (?), then there is a “load” button. There’s no import button. But on the main screen the app has an import SVG button directly. Confusing. Plus, even if you use the load image from inside the art board menu confusion, there is no FileBrowser to import PNGs from your files or from dropbox, only a select photo from your photo roll. JPGsI see no way to import JPG. I see no way to export JPG.PDFExports yes. Import no.For an app that costs $30 a year annually (more if you pay monthly), I would expect a simpler, more intuitive interface and an actual file import option (especially if the features list says it can). Plus, even after upgrading for a year, you still have to pay more and more to import from the shapes packs.Secondly, it claims you can do a 7-day trial. It would not let me access any app functions at all until I upgraded. This may be a good app for you if you are mainly working with SVG files and only require PDF/PNG export. But I wouldn’t recommend it.

Some improvements.

I’ve downloaded many drawing and vector apps in the past but none of them compare to Assembly. The GUI is very easy to use for editing vectors or creating vector, and the color too. I just wanted to give a few suggestions for the app and if they can get added. Note I don’t think they will be added because of the chances of them going through with it. Anyways her are my ideas.1) Adding a more dynamic color panel for a larger span of colors. Although we can just input color, but this would be nice.2) Ability to add fonts from google, this would be great to have a larger variety of fonts.3) Making a better alignment tool, I don’t really like the current alignment tool, to many lines appear and its always shifted .1 to the left or right of the actual shape.4) Adding brushes, Im not sure how they will feel about this since the add is known for its creativity with only shapes, and shadows. But there is a limit and trying to create more detailed artwork it difficult. Not many tools, maybe a pen, brush, fill. I have more but little at a time. Also I create must of my artwork via iPhone and I have to say its great. Time passes by and learning is the best part about it.

Great! But some suggestions..

This app is super helpful for me, especially because I do freelance logo design here and there. This has a lot more features than one would expect from a phone application. Absolutely killer! I’ve had this app for a while and I can’t help but notice that the “save video” option has changed. Now you get four different options for how the video will get played back. While those transitions do look pretty cool, I miss the video playback style where it was just a time lapse of every change that was made from the blank canvas to the final product. It was always super satisfying to watch my projects come together and it helped me a lot to see which shapes and methods I ditched and which ones I used along the way. It was also funny to show my friends and see their reaction to my almost-creepy desire for every little thing to be perfect😂 also if you could create an option to erase parts of shapes in the shape editor, that’d be cool! With a hardness adjuster and all the other standard things that an erase/fill brush should come with! Just a thought. My main thing is that I really miss the timelapse-style playback! PLEASE BRING THAT BACK!!! Thank you! :)
