Excellent travel app in theory

This has been my “go-to” travel app for many years. I even paid for the upgrade to store my travel receipts in TripCase. However, it has degraded over the past 2 years to where I spend more time with manual add ins and screenshots of my trip to share itineraries than I want to. I have contacted customer service (over a year ago) about one issue. When I clicked on the “share” button, it would lock up my app completely, and I had to close it down to unlock the screen. They told me it only affects iPhones. However, it doesn’t work using my HP laptop, either. Over a year later, and it still doesn’t work as it should. Now, I’m not even getting check in notifications. As good as it was, it’s just irritating now. Deleting to find a new app where the developers actually fix the bugs for all operating systems.

Best of the Best!

If you’re like me, you’ve seen the various travel management apps and, frankly, they all had positives and negatives. For some time, I had three on my phone, finally narrowing down to two. Then, I had a ridiculous travel day. My starting leg was delayed over two hours, putting my connection out of the question. When I landed, I checked TripCase out of habit and, lo and behold, the system had kept track of my connection and sent updated times for departure. It was delayed and, long story short, I made it because I knew it was still there and what gate to go to. No other app updated, in fact, even the airline app did not track as well as TripCase. Finally, after landing and getting my car, I clicked on the hotel, navigate with Waze and away I went. 100%, this is the best, most complete and easiest app to use. Look no further, this is it.

Not sure what’s going on

I’ve been using TripCase for about 3-1/2 years now and have been extremely happy with it. However, just recently it keeps deleting a trip I’ve entered probably a dozen times. The trip shows up for an hour or so when I keep going back to check on it, but it eventually disappears. This has been since the most recent couple of updates. My App Store says it just updated again yesterday. I don’t know why it did that because I’m pretty sure I didn’t select automatic updates. None of my other apps are on automatic. It’s discouraging when apps are excellent and then the update lessens its appeal. It happens far too often with my favorite apps. If the problem of my disappearing trip is not resolved soon this will not be in my “favorites” category. Thus, the 4 stars.

Great app!

I like this app so much I decided to update my review from 5yrs ago. I've been using it at least that long, and I really depend on it to keep track of my crazy travel schedule. I love that all I have to do is forward my confirmation email, and all the details are imported into the app. Much easier than when I used to "import" using my confirmation number. I have now installed a 2nd copy on my wife's phone so she can keep up with my travel as well. I also love that I can forward separate emails for hotel & flight reservations, and then merge them into a single trip within the app. My only complaint is that rental car info doesn't import correctly from the email. Hopefully that will get fixed.

Decent but buggy

Consolidating trips with this app makes life on the road very easy. Gate changes and trip updates or handled very well I can save you a lot of time. However, the process of adding flights is useless. The app gives you two options for importing flight information-either by confirmation number or by forwarding the confirmation email. Neither of these have ever worked. Consequently, for multiple flights or one flight with many legs, you need to spend a good deal of time manually entering all aspects of your trip into the app. The other frustrating part is support-from within the app, I clicked on the Health link, and it takes me to an FAQ edge. In order to contact support, it requires me to login, but every time I am on the help page, it log me back out. It is therefore impossible to actually contact support from the app.

Excellent App!

I travel nearly every week for work and this has been an invaluable app. I can easily share my itineraries with family members and many of my flights are auto populated into the app. I find that I am notified about flight delays and cancellations via this app before the airlines notify me! The ability to combine different entries into a single trip is quite convenient. Sometimes the app does glitch and hangs for a bit but this tends to resolve itself fairly quickly. For some emailed entries that aren’t readable, I do wish entering data was a bit easier. These are relatively minor issues as the app is quite fabulous for the frequent traveler. I have recommended it to many others!!

It stopped working since their one of their updates in 2019.

I’ve used this app for over 10 years. I travel weekly and relied on this app to track my trips and get updates.Since the 2019 update it stopped loading the trips. At first it wouldn’t even load the app. Now it loads but won’t retrieve any of my trip data. It just spins the circle of infinite wait. I let the phone or iPad (both have the same issue) sit there overnight and it’s still spinning the next morning - no data retrieved. Hard to track trips when you can’t see the trip info.I’ve waited patiently for them to fix the app but it’s now been several months and I can’t wait any longer. I’ve been using airline and hotel apps to get my information while waiting for this app to regain functionality, but waiting several months is ridiculous. They should have rolled back to the last functioning version while they fixed it instead of leaving all users with a non-functioning app for months. Time to consider other app options!

Can get it dangerously wrong

As many others I have tried several trip apps. I used a recent complex trip to compare TripCase, TripIt and Kayak. The trip had 6 flights, 4 accommodations, a car hire and airport parking. Importing the emails was least effective with TripCase. It failed to import any of the accommodation and also failed to import the airport parking (Kayak imported them all). More critically I found TripCase does not sanity check the data so when American shuffled flight numbers, TripCase had me flying LA to San Jose at the same time as I was on a flight from Helsinki to San Francisco. This fixed itself once the update email arrived from American. Then TripCase had the terminal info wrong but correct gate number ( note the gate number does not exist at that the terminal it listed). On the few positives TripCase was generally better than the others at flight delays (though none got them all). Overall unimpressed as I had to manually enter much of the itinerary and not sanity checking flight data could have easily had me miss a flight

A Time Waster

Overall and in the most simplistic of scenarios, the app used to work fairly well. (2017). It's biggest shortcomings have been and remain its inability to upload docs vitally important to trips, such as PDF, MS Word, and image files contained in the body of emails or in file attachments. Many itineraries I receive via email do not contain details in the body of the email, but rather, in a file attachment or in a graphic image. The app fails here.More recently (Feb 5, 2022), TripCase has become unable to parse information in SW Airlines itineraries and has begun placing them in my inbox, rendering the app completely useless for me. These itineraries represent 60% of my flights and are found in 90% of my trips. This app had good potential, but I don't think they (Sabre) are staffing engineers to support it anymore as small past problems have turned into nothing but more frequent and bigger problems. Enter the inbox. If an itinerary is placed in the inbox, it's usually useless, because the app basically only captures a screenshot of PART of the itinerary, invariably, missing relevant info. In the years since its heyday, OCR and machine learning have improved dramatically, but TripCase can't read a SWAirlines itinerary? Stick a fork in this app. It's done! Too bad, even with its past bugs, it still had good utility. Not so much anymore. Useless to me. A very frequent traveler.

Been using it for years

TripCase makes it very easy to forward reservation emails to the TripCase email address, it recognizes it’s from you by your email (i.e. no need to log in each time) and teases out the details without my interaction. Over time it’s done it faster and more accurately and from more travel providers. Combining multiple reservations into a single trip takes seconds. And sometimes the travel delay alerts come faster through TripCase than from the airlines themselves, but not always. My main enhancement requests would be to include fares and hotel/car quoted prices, so I can quickly confirm that I’m being charged right when I check in, or negotiate or rebook on the spot. In those cases I have to dredge up the original reservation. Also, please work on teasing out more details out of AirBnB reservations. I know this is a free app by Sabre, and AirBnB is competition, but still, the quality of the app is what I’m writing about here.
