Wonderful Sudoku App

I love this app! I’ve tried a few other sudoku apps that felt awkward or unintuitive but this one is so easy to use and I like the input mode that doesn’t require you to tap the number for every box. My only nitpick is that I like the idea of playing on dark mode, but the lines are so hard to see I can’t keep track of the boxes. But as far as the main gameplay, level options, etc I think it’s great.

Inconsistent Actions/Modes - Wastes Game Time

For speed, I set the game to “numbers first” mode. But when I select the pencil, to input notes, it switches back to “squares first” mode. But that’s not the worst of it. When I am entering the same number in several squares, one after the other, if I tap on a square that has notes in it, the game goes into notes mode, instead of entering the selected number in the square. So I have to go back and tap on the selected number. Then it’s in the wrong mode again. This really slows down game play. This game is supposed to be a challenge. But the biggest challenge is trying to figure out which mode the game is going to switch into next and when it’s going to do it.When you select numbers first mode, it should stay in that mode until you tell it otherwise. I played 2/3 of the way through a diabolical level game in 10 minutes and spent five minutes of that time trying to get the game back into the correct mode. I should have been through with the game in that time. The only reason I didn’t rate this game 1-star is because it has some of the least obtrusive ads I’ve come across in a Sudoku game. But if the game doesn’t work in a reliable and logical manner, then placement of the ads is immaterial.I think that the developer was trying to show off his skills and forgot the cardinal rule in developing any app. K.I.S.S. - Keep It Simple Stupid. Too bad…I’m deleting this app when I finish writing this review.

Sudoku

I use this game app multiple times a day. It’s fun and easy with many different difficulty levels for users. The interface is easy to use and there is minimal set up involved in using the app. The cons are that there are annoying commercials after each game that can take a while to let you past them. I also haven’t found a “cheat” button yet to help with when I am doing a much harder level and get stuck for 15 minutes staring at the board and not seeing any moves. Overall I enjoy this Sudoku app more than others I have tried.

Was there an update just recently to the game?

I have loved this game for several years and purchased it. I play it almost every day, play through all levels of difficulty before I end for the night. It’s always been an excellent game. So much better than really any other out there because it is like doing a sudoku on paper. I’m concerned because this week, it appeared as it my app received an update. It looks very different in appearance than before. The standard of play is also different and more awkward. When I went into the Apple App Store to read about the updates or to try to refresh the app, I was able to open the older app. However, I cannot download the original app to my home screen. I am only able to use in from within the Apple App Store. This is the app I originally purchased and want to use. Not only is the new one glitchy, it has commercials after every play. I paid so that I wouldn’t have to experience this. How can I change my settings to go back to the other version? Please respond. Thank you.

Frustrating to play, too many taps

I create my own notes rather than have the game calculate them for me. So I start with 1s and fill in each possibility. When I change to 2s (or tap any number), the game automatically switches from note to answer mode. Tap the note box again, fill in all the options, repeat.Once I'm ready to start answering, it's the opposite: It automatically switches to note mode every time I select a square. Tap the note box again to deactivate it, answer, repeat. It should stay in whatever mode you've selected until you change it yourself. Otherwise, it's a whole lot of tapping back and forth for no reason. This seems not to bother most people, but it renders the game unplayable for me.

Have to pay for levels above medium.....

I love Sudoku and all the varieties the puzzle comes in. I downloaded this app because it appeared to have a variety of levels including my fave Mega Sudoku. However, once I opened the app I was disappointed to see the only levels avail are easy or medium. You have to upgrade (pay) to unlock the games they feature in their pics. Not koo y'all!! Other than that I gave 2 stars because the medium level games took a little longer than I expected to complete and I like that it has the option to note multiple numbers in a square until you decide on your final answer. But I really think I am going to uninstall this game and search for one that has access to many levels w/o having to pay for it!!Note to Developers: You should consider some sort of trial to access the higher levels. My issue isn't the price of the upgrade, it's not knowing if I will like the upgraded levels and games. Allow us to try and then buy!!Thanks*

Almost perfect

I love sudoku but I can’t stand most sudoku apps. This one doesn’t have the problem with needing to toggle through digits or tiles and it allows for more than one note to be placed per cell. I will say that it does drive me nuts that I have to select every cell and then input the notes I want. I often like to go numerically than cell-by-cell, so I’d appreciate a note feature similar to the “Number then Cell” feature where I can select a number and have each subsequent cell I tap noted with that number. If it weren’t for the notes I’d’ve bought the ad-free version ages ago and never try another sudoku app. BUT it must be said that this one by far is already the best I’ve tried.

Like the notes capability, hate the assumptions.

I like that the app allows the user to make notes, but I absolutely HATE that there is some kind of an underlying assumption that puts numbers into cells before I am ready (which then causes my notes to get wiped from other cells!) This function leads me down the wrong path half. I don't want the app to automatically remove my notes. I want to do that myself. Also, toggling is a royal pain. Sometimes I accidentally leave the notes button off between cells and have to immediately go back and redo. If the app has made edits for me while I am doing that I can't tell the difference between what I've done and what the app did for me. Very frustrating. Getting a different Sudoku app because I can't stand it.

Best layout for sudoku

I guess I’ve tried dozens of Sudoku apps over the years, and my biggest disappointment with some games is ease of play - how accurately can I fill in the squares with big clumsy fingers on a little screen. Mind The Frog has nailed their interface, and created an input system so accurate I could play with my toes or my nose. The puzzles themselves are straightforward - no ‘magic’ variation, no 6x6, and nothing using symbols. It would be great to see some creative puzzles here, at least in the challenges. The interface is flawless, and maybe in time we’ll see some more puzzles to take advantage of it.

By far best Sudoku app

I play on the hardest possible settings and so some of the features that stand apart it’s this app make it much more convenient. For example, auto fill note, and highlighting all notes and chosen numbers whenever you choose a number. This makes it possible to visualize notes to do X wing and swordfish. My only complaint is that there is a big gap between expert and diabolical. Expert I can solve in a minutes with just one advanced technique required, whereas with diabolical I get to a pint where I pretty much have it guess.
