Great recorder, But...

This the most frustrating app I've ever tried to use. Help says "do this," so easy. But it won't do it the way Help explains an action. I can't get it to export the recording, I can't get it out of the iCloud now that it's in there-but it's still in my phone taking up space also. I can't delete recordings that I have already transcribed and/or sent to the iCloud. I have paid for all of the features, and yet have seen none of these features work as described. I am going to delete the app just to get the 4G space back on my phone. What a mistake. I need and want the recordings, but need the space on my phone also.

Excellent voice recorder

I use this program for my work. It allows me to record my daily weather report that I give over the radio to firefighters. The radio program will only play it if it’s a certain format (wav, mono, 8000 sampling rate). I have yet to find another program that allows me to customize the format to meet the specs I’d need to play the audio. Excellent program, never fails. From a first responder - Don’t hesitate to purchase.

Mileage varies with user

As with all software you need to investigate and define your needs before you get unraveled. This software answers my needs by allowing me to take notes without constantly hitting the record button when I want to pause. The voice recognition setting saves valuable time. And no, quality transcription services are not free so stop complaining.

Smart Record’s collection of personal information

I won’t be using smart record because they share this personal information with their third party vender who then share it again with their third party venders. I don’t want to have my personal information shared and reshaped. I get sometimes as many as 30 emails a day from companies I’ve never heard of that say I signed up for these email. When I unsubscribe from the list these companies don’t respect my request not to receive emails from them. I have reported a few of the more aggressive parties for continuing to send emails. The rest I’ve put in the spam folder and fingers crossed 🤞🏼 I get these beastly emails under control.

Ditto on Ninjasmoke's review - playback not working w/wireless headsets

Since upgrading to my iPhone 7 I have not been able to get playback of recordings to work with any of my wireless headsets. This is one feature I really need and I've written to Roe Mobile but have not received any support. Could my settings be off? Please fix this feature or reply with needed setting corrections. kandityperI’ve used Smart Recorder since I bought my first smart phone about 3-4 years ago. I do not play an instrument or sight read so it’s the best accompaniment I can practice to-for feedback. I used it to record my choir practices and then edited out the unimportant “chat.” It helps me to learn a lot of detail more correctly and I do t know what I’d do without it. I use it for so many other things too and am so thankful for Roe Development for making this “multi- wonderful” App. Thank you!

Not high priced $$

I purchased "The Smart Record App mid to late September, 2013, after trying the free lite version. The specs said would record up to 20 minutes in .wav file audio. Well 2014 rings in and I notice there is a Recorder 7. Which is what prompted me to tell this. The most I could record and email as a .wav was about 9 minutes, and much less now. When I use the App now it ask if I wish to upgrade. No I wish to use what I paid, for a App service that does not know work as Company said. Apple was no help & it has done me know good to email your company as I have over 3 times !! Once should be enough. So Thank you very LITTLE FOR YOUR NON SUPPORT, BUT TAKING MY MONEY !!??Well I noticed now in 2017 my review is not posted. I have sent many EMAILS TO ROE. With not one return response !! Where I am from, we call that stealing.

Missing what i need, my time stamp synched notes

In the interface there are two tabs for text on the yellow note pad. One is called transcript...this is where the Siri machine transcription will appear when you end the recording. The other tab is called tags. This is where i had hoped to put my notes....which for me are mainly markers of where to jump to in the audio file. Mine files are often of a long lecture. But the transcription - process wipes out all text on both tabs. And i did not get a transcription to work yet. I assume the transcriptions are not time stamped.

Disappointed in export upgrade

I purchased an upgrade for $9.99 so that I could export things to Facebook and other places. Since I purchased it, I have not been able to do that. It won’t go anywhere once I do, and I have emailed the company that created this recording app. I have not received any response whatsoever and I’m still not able to do what I paid for.I have contacted Apple and I told him I would try to see if I could work things out by removing recordings and doing certain things to see if maybe I could do something different. I have not been able to do that and I have not been able to get a refund yet. I will try again to contact Apple and see if they can refund the money since I have had no luck getting hold of the company that created the app.

Beware of App’s Poor Editing Features

The low rating is because of the inability to recover the remainder of an important recording (one of my class lectures) after I inadvertently trimmed the recording way too short. I was befuddled, in particular, because the app gave me the ability to recover entire recordings if I deleted them? Why wouldn’t you, then, also give me the ability to recover a recording that I accidentally over trimmed? Those who might buy this app should be aware, therefore, of the significant shortcomings of the app’s editing features.

Trickery

This app is fine if you want to record audio. Sure. If, however, you want to do anything at all with that audio, you need to buy the full version. If you want to transcribe the audio (the whole reason I got it), you need to subscribe to another paid service and get another app, which also records, so why would you need this? But wait, if you go ahead and get the other app, and pay for the service to transcribe (because you’ve already got audio on here you have to work with) you STILL have to buy the full version of this app too. Rubbish. Now I have audio I can do absolutely nothing with beyond listen to it and transcribe it myself manually.
