No sound

I am wondering if this app works on IPads. My mute is off, volume is all the way up and there is no sound. Please let me know if I am missing something. Thanks

Disappointed

I had hoped that these apps would be a quality addition to my OG instruction. I wish there was an option for playing that did not involve shooting or blowing something up.

Not great

The quality isn't good and the pronunciation is horrendous.

Great for competitive kids

My 7 year old LOVED this. I highly recommend the parent/teacher playing first to figure out how it works (yes it looks self explanatory but it’s imperative you prepare your child in advance for what the game will entail, especially if you have a child that gets discouraged easily. Tell them that if they get shot by a UFO, or use too many bullets, they will lose that round. Also, I recommend being near by your child while they play, so you can pronounce the word again or assist with the correct vowel sound (which is bound to happen with a young dyslexic.)

Description

The Short Vowel Rocket Game is a phonics based game for older children who struggle with reading and may have dyslexia. This game will give the child practice in identifying short vowel sounds. Often, games at this phonics level are created for young children, this game is for those that are age 7+.

The child will identify the short vowel in a word that is called out, (s)he will blow up the asteroid with the corresponding short vowel sound. An alien spaceship will come along to try and destroy the player's ship, so (s)he better watch out! This game is targeted for those who struggle to read or may have dyslexia. It corresponds to the reading program, Blast Off to Reading! However, it is not necessary to be using that particular program.
