Having the ability to shoot video of everything going on around me in high-quality without exerting any effort other than pressing record on the camera is an absolutely amazing experience. Using the app to put together a video exactly the way I want it is awesome too. Without Rylo you would need a bunch of equipment and a lot of experience to even try to come close, not to mention you would have to solely be focused on what you’re filming. With Rylo now I can put together amazing shots without missing a second of the actual moment
This has easily become my favorite video camera to use everywhere. Finally a camera and app that reinvents unobtrusive filming. I just mount and record. No more worries about aiming and capturing the right moment, the software takes cares of it all. The software allows you to go back and aim the scene at any point and the stabilization is the best I’ve tested. The colors are easily tuned and editing is superior to GoPro. My only comment is that low light and night shots are not up iPhone X quality, but better than most. Well worth the $500!
Rylo is an incredible product on its own. I love the frequent updates to add great new features. Thrilled to find out there’s an ipad app now! I wish the lens of the adventure case didn’t scratch so easily but it is what it is. Trust me, pair this with an Oculus Go and you’ll wow your friends. I’ve had friends view my Alaska helicopter video and instinctively reach for the hand rails on takeoff as your brain is so thoroughly fooled. Keep going Rylo!
I just got my Rylo in time for a summer trip to Europe and South America. I made sure to buy it a few days early to be able to test it out and decide whether to keep or return it. After just a few short clips and editing in-app it’s very clear I’ll be keeping the camera. I absolutely LOVE it! The software is just incredible; (a) it’s solid, very stable and reliable which is SO important, and (b) it’s intuitive and quick. Please keep up the good work! And thank you so much for an awesome product :)
The new update to the editing software is impressive! With no download required to my phone prior to making edits it’s like I’m working with a powerful non-destructive editing program on my computer, and saving a tone of space on my phone. Partway through editing a video yesterday my Rylo ran out of battery...I thought the edits would be gone, but nope! As soon as I juiced up the rylo and plugged it back into my phone the edits were still there.
I like this camera and app, but I do have a wishlist for it. First item would be to be able to copy the 360 files back to an SD card in the camera from the app (would love to keep the edits and free up phone space). Second would be an iPad version of the app. Third would be the ability to “follow this” on a grid instead of keeping the object always dead center of the shot. Overall, though, it’s pretty solid for what it is and seems to be improving with each update.
This app is super easy to use and it’s a breeze to frame your shots after you shoot. I’d love to have a dedicated time lapse feature built into either the app or the camera itself. As it is now, it can be very time consuming (and battery draining) to export 5+ minute videos so if there was an easier way to make timelapses, I would be ecstatic!
First off, the camera is great. Really great. On to the app: For what it does, it works well and its pretty stable. You can open a video, edit the viewpoints, and save it. But otherwise the app is very basic, lacks some basic usability and information that would be great to see. It’s like someone’s summer project, like a Proof of Concept without finishing touches. The file naming is GUID based and so you’re really stuck with the app to manage files. The lack of updates is frustrating, and there’s STILL no iPad app. It would be great to have a native iPad app that could read and store rylo files in the Files app. Maybe someday?
I LOVE my Rylo 360! The Rylo app is great for managing and editing the content too. My only complaints are 1) No class C USB = can’t use my iPad Pro. 2) No Apple Watch app and no wireless remote option = limits mounting options on my motorcycles and kayaks to where you can reach the camera or phone. I’d LOVE to be able to control the camera with a stand alone remote (waterproof), my Apple Watch, or even my GoPro remote (least likely I’m sure)
Con:The video quality may not be quite as high as you may expect, but when consider that the thing is capturing more than a dozen times the viewing angle of the regular iPhone camera, it seems reasonable. Pro:Shooting mostly absent-mindedly, then being able to easily compose your camera movements after the fact, is just magical. The controls to move where the view frame of the final shot is looking are super simple, but very powerful. The object tracking is a little hit and miss. If your subject area is remotely visually similar to the surroundings, the app will struggle. If your subject is visually distinct, this works great. The directional instructions are much more reliable, and I’ve found telling the view to ‘look here’ is usually the way to go. The company:I’ve been very impressed with the company’s support responses and responsiveness. They answer quick, and seem truly determined to provide a great experience. I only very rarely take the time to write reviews, but these guys have earned it. Good camera, great app, excellent service. I look forward to where Rylo is headed.
Rylo captures everything in 360° all around you in beautiful 5.8K resolution, letting you share vivid and realistic scenes loaded with details. With the Rylo app, you can create a perfectly framed clip from any section of your 360° shot and share a traditional HD video, or fully immersive 360° video. With Rylo's breakthrough stabilization, you spend less time worrying about holding the camera steady, and more time nailing those once-in-a-lifetime shots.
