Awesome app, not worth the premium price

This version, being the free version, is only available for iPhones, however, since iPads have the ability to download iPhone apps, that is not a problem. I used version 1.1.1 on an iPad using iOS 9.2.1. The function of this application is to demonstrate the patterns of different types of waves under varying circumstances. I used this app to help with an assignment in my AP Physics class for further comprehension of the science behind waves, and how they react both with obstacles and one another. It was a very useful and easily comprehensible resource to help internalize the nature of waves. This application is highly recommended for physics students, or students of any class for that matter, that are studying wave patterns. It’s important to note that there is a paid version, however, since I have no experience with that version, I can’t fairly dictate whether or not it’s worth the price, being that it costs a relatively lofty $5.99.

Incredible!

Such a simple concept, but it has the power to illustrate an enormous number of optical and acoustic phenomena. This app can generate beautiful pictures of interference, diffraction, refraction, resonance and much more. Plus, the ability to interactively play with the waves makes it fun!

Wave reflection and interference — interactive!

Wonderful free app that shows clearly how waves propagate from various sources— point source, two sources, dipole, etc — then how the waves reflect and interfere. Several options to customize. You can also “stick your finger in the water” and generate new waves that mix in with the provided waves. You can see things that would be a lot of trouble to set up in a lab. Too bad several snotty schoolchildren were assigned to download it and failed to appreciate what they could learn and experience — their reviews are worthless.

I was forced to

Imagine being forced to download an app because the teacher made you... I won’t dislike the app.

A fun way to learn about wave behavior

Made complex wave phenomena more intuitive. Great app, thanks!

Falstad, Thank You

This is re-incarnation of the web app I used in my studies and teaching! I think You could marked the wave modeling algorythm behind this app separately to some serious guys!

I found the “acoustic reflection” option useful for demonstrating seismic wave propagation to students. It is possible to simulate various imaging scenarios by moving the source around, and also by changing the location of the reflective interface. Fault diffractions can be simulated by changing the configuration of the reflector.

Description

A simulation of a ripple tank, or wave tank. Make waves with your finger, or view examples including such wave phenomena as interference, diffraction (single slit, double slit, etc.), refraction, resonance, and the Doppler effect. There is also a full version of this app, called "Ripple Tank", which allows you to create your own experiments, save and load, and change colors.

It is also optimized for iPad.
