Could Use Modifications

I’m finding that it’s almost impossible for an app that will allow you to virtually paint a room. I want to paint an “attic” cape cod room a dark green but not sure if I want to paint the whole room or just some of the walls. I was hoping an app would somewhat let me visualize my options. This app isn’t great as in, it can’t identify the walls. It generates very blotchy and you would need to put the paint density all the way up to completely fill the walls. Which then over fills lots of areas you don’t want paint including the floor, annoying, but not a big deal. I figured I’d just use the eraser to clean it up and get the general idea of what I was going for. This is where I just gave up..... the eraser is in the shape of a circle and doesn’t operate like most erasers in programs. While held down to erase it creates “circle stamps” instead of a straight line. You won’t be able to erase a straight edge....it’ll look scalloped.

Colors Outdated

The app is easy to use, fun, color matching seems to be spot on so after spending a few days to narrow down THE perfect color it’s finally time to pick up some chips and look at them in your room before putting some real paint on the walls.....only to find that nothing you’ve picked is on any of the color chips. Computer to help locate chips is not set up to help you find the closest or at least a color within the family you’ve decided on. The guy at the counter is nice and he’ll make you up a sample of the old color, but seriously, he said the color I’d picked out hasn’t been on the chip board for at least five years. UPDATE your app Home Depot!!! If you want your tools to be useful that’s a no brainer. And also the app often freezes up when it’s time to try “Painting” your wall. Have to shut it down and start it again. Painful.

I had to edit the brightness of the picture using iphone8

For capturing a color of my siding I took a picture of a large area that was in the shade with bright sun light reflecting off adjacent surfaces. When I used the color capture feature, all paints came out too dark when held up to the vinyl siding. So, I increased the brightness of the photo using Photos until I could hold up my iPhone to the siding using color capture and the brightness was the same. I found 2 good matches. Now, I will get some samples and find out if the matches are real. Note that I turned up the brightness on my IPhone to max before I started this exercise.

See it in your space feature is a joke

I downloaded this app because I recently bought a home and we are painting the whole house. I really like accent walls and different colors so I thought this app would help me visualize the colors we want to use. Well this feature doesn’t work at all. The colors look horrible on the walls, like someone took Microsoft Paint and painted color on a photo. Also there’s no way to just choose one wall. You pick an area with your finger and then use the slider for the coverage amount… it’s just so clunky and not intuitive at all. I would think that Home Depot would have the resources to make a better app. Hopefully they fix it soon because it would be really cool idea to be able to visualize your paint before committing to it.

Don’t take a pic with your phone for color match

I like the app if you’re using it with the colors already loaded in the app. I tried taking pictures of color swatches with two different iPhones, one being the newest best camera the 11Pro, and the pictures did not even come close to being a match. Green turned into aqua, etc. There are too many variables with lighting, shading, phone cameras, to make this a viable option. I would almost take this feature off until this is fixed, if ever. Customers will visit HD with a picture on their phone expecting it to be the color they want. It will not be.

Good idea- But app doesn’t work well

The idea is great, but the functionality of app is worthless. Here’s why:1. I downloaded and used app for 15 minutes during which the app crashed 3 times. Had to reopen and start over again continuously. 2. Taking photos and allowing app to access certain photos worked fine. When looking over color swatches, the names of colors weren’t available to see (you’re going on small color swatch alone). Once you click on a color and it takes you to your chosen photo, there isn’t anyway to “undo” or “page back” if you don’t want that color.E. G.- I accidentally tapped on one color swatch a few times because no names are given (until color is selected) and I wasn’t sure “which black color” in that row that I had already looked at. I didn’t realize I had selected the same color until I clicked on it and then I could see the color name. I had to exit out of the picture completely and restart process just to choose another color. 3. “Painting” the color onto photo. The tech is ok. It does leave a white outer line around “painted area”, so that can be distracting. I also had an actual paint swatch on the wall, so it had a white line around that swatch too. 4. Overall- the inability to go back to color sample options from photo (having to restart process over again & again) and the continually crashing makes this app not useful.

Very good!

Was told by a Home Depot employee that I shouldn’t use this app, after I already used the app.I was trying to decide on any color for my master bedroom. After looking at a lot of swatches at the store, and using the app to visualize it in my space, I chose “Thermal.” I am so amazed, after painting, how much it looks like the image the app showed me. And I left everything in my photo, but the wall was mostly bare.I will say I’m disappointed I can’t figure out how to ‘paint’ adjacent walls with different colors. So I’ve painted one, taken a screen capture, then used that image to ‘see it in my space’ changing the color of the adjacent wall. So that’s why I’ve removed 1 star.

Pretty good app, but could use improvements

This app is great if you want to match a color to a picture that you have pinned on Pinterest, or that you have saved on your camera roll. However, for the project that I had planned, the app fell short. We were remodeling the kitchen and wanted to see what color cabinets we should go with to match the pre-existing paint we had on the walls in the kitchen. But this app only lets you see one color at a time, not to mention, only the wall color can be changed, not the cabinet color. Besides these shortcomings, the app is great but being able to see more than one color side by side and change the cabinet colors would be a major improvement to the app.

I am color blind this is god sent thank you Home Depot I am lost for words

I have always had a very hard time seeing color, since I’ve been a child. I’ve tried on those color blind glasses, and they just confused me. I started to paint/art and it’s almost impossible….. until now. I want to say thank you to home depot for making this app, I’ve downloaded so many apps over the years and none compares to this app. I can’t believe I can take photos of things and it tells me what colors they are!!!!!!!

Great app for browsing colors and matching them, but...

This app works remarkably when using the color matcher, and if you just need to find something that will work with whatever project you are doing. My only problem is the beta “see it in your space”. There can’t be any thing else in the picture but the wall, otherwise that’s colored in too, and the wall can’t be textured, otherwise there will be white specks around the place. This was the main reason I got the app, so I hope that the company is working on bringing it to a useable state. If that feature isn’t what you’re looking for, then it’s a five star app.
