New update 1/6/21

I play this game for hours a day.. I’m finding the new update hard to get used to. The interactions with the pieces need some work. Previously you could easily drag pieces around and place them, now they seem to randomly slam to the bottom, causing them to go where I didn’t want them too, it’s very frustrating. I turned all of the “settings” off immediately too (ghost pieces, etc.)

What happened???

This was my favorite game. Then it broke on my iPad with the IOS 14 upgrade. Now they completely redesigned. It only uses 3/4 of the screen now so it’s even tinier. They moved the hold button to the left side? How am I supposed to play with 1 hand now? If you were trying to get me to find a new game, congrats. I have it 2 stars since there still aren’t ads although shrinking the board makes me believe that ads are the next change coming.

Great game design with broken scoring and no support

March 2023 update: game center is no longer supported. Link to leaderboard and standings no longer works. Not sure if scoring is updating. APP SUPPORT link opens 404 page! A great practice app but not a game. The app doesn't track the game until quit. So you'd have to play in one session. Pausing for an extended period resets the app. Piece probabilities for Game and Campaign are different; e.g., in pentix you get one cross for every ten lines in Campaign, and reverse of that trend in Game.

Get your Tetris fix with a couple twists

I'm a Tetris fan, have been for years. This version has a couple twists that don't offend my purist side. There is a countdown option so the game can (mercifully) time out without wasting half my afternoon. And there are some new pieces, like the single block or the zig zag, but otherwise very traditional. Overall very satisfied with this purchase.

Okay

Closest to the original but controls are clunky, even when I keep the screen super clean. Like other reviewers, I also experience inconsistent rotation and pieces dropping unexpectedly. And I really don't like several of the new pieces. Tetris worked because the blocks could actually be fit together. I can get out my Mac SE, still works, with the original game if I start jonesing too bad, I suppose.

Don't buy EA's Tetris, get THIS!

After major disappointment from the official Tetris app (should have expected, after all, it was made by EA) which barley resembled the original game at all. Having a few bucks left on my account, I bought this, the obvious Tetris clone. Simply put, it's Tetris with more blocks and two new modes. I can think of a total of two, tiny flaws with this game. 1) the touch screen controls occasionally screw you over when attempting to slide blocks into small spaces at the last minute, and 2) if you use MOG as opposed to iTunes like I do, you won't be able to listen to it while playing, when I attempt to play a song off of MOG in this app, it immediately shuts off the music. Over all, this is the version of Tetris you want to play if you want the classic puzzle game on your iPhone or iPod touch

Drop function needs improvement

I love this game, it’s the best version of Pentix and it’s even superseded Tetris for me. However my only gripe is that they keep changing the drop function. First it was no swipe but two buttons on either side of the screen. This worked well but the recent upgrade got rid of those buttons and made it a swipe drop which is about 80% reliable and moved the drop button to the top of the screen where your thumbs can’t reach and is not intuitive to use. Please decide on a layout and make sure it works all the time so I can get my score up!!!Other than that, fabulous and addictive.

TERRIBLE Dissappointment!

Horrible and very frustrating "version" of Tetris! Pieces frequently shift when dropped, not falling into the displayed target space! Not enjoyable at all! Save your money! This continues to be the WORST game that I have on my iPad! I keep hoping that there will be an update to fix all the problems but that has yet to happen! If you want a Tetris game, this is NOT it! Avoid like the plague!!It is amazing how you continue to make this app worse than it was before. “Good Job” — NOT! Shame on you!!!!

Fun but not Tetris

I - like a few of the reviews that I read - purchased this ap because I love playing Tetris and thought this game would be similar. It is similar in that its a game of fitting together puzzle pieces, but the shapes are different which for you Tetris lovers you will pick up on immediately. The shapes are a little odd/different from what I am familiar with, but the game is however fun and I do find that I enjoy playing it.

Amazing game but has one problem.

I love this game big time compared to regular Tetris. I was addicted to Tetris before but when I tried this game I was hooked and Tetris now seems incredibly boring. The only thing I don't like is how I can't play music in the background on my iPhone while playing this game. when I try to turn it on the game turns it back off no matter what I try to do. But other than that I love this game and It really deserves 5 stars but I will not give it 5 until that music bug is fixed.
