Best Morse App Ever

I have tried a few apps for learning Morse. This one is by far the best. Whether it’s learning to hear or send, the app provides excellent opportunities to practice and learn at your own pace. For me, it is well worth the price to upgrade to the paid version. And the options available let me choose how I want to learn. I really appreciate the flexibility. Moreover, even with all of the features working extremely well, this app isn’t gathering dust like a lot of the other Morse apps are. The developer is still improving it and is responsive to questions or suggestions. Definitely a five star app that makes learning Morse fun - in a really effective way.

Great app, but challenging for big fingers

The app is awesome for learning, full version allows you to change settings as you progress. Only complaint is that in receive mode, you have to press exactly in the middle of each letter you hear or else it will fail you. Many times I have heard the word correctly, but got dinged when I didn’t hit a letter spot on. Seems like there could be a little grace built into the keyboard in the app to account for this. Turning iPhone into landscape mode helps a bit.

Keep going!!

Found the lack of instructions super confusing at first, but once I played around with the first level enough to understand it it became the MOST helpful learning app I’ve ever had! I love having the ability to go back and redo a level whenever I want more practice, and I feel like I’m getting the hang of new letters VERY quickly! Excellent work here. And free too!! Only pay if you want to customize your practice sets, and even that is only $3 for lifetime access. LOVE IT.

The best app I’ve tried but…

I love this app it’s great but I have trouble hearing sometimes so if there was a setting to visualize the dots and dashes that would be great. This is the best app I’ve tried and I still love it and I know I’m being picky but that would really help me learn. Once again this is the best app I’ve tried and I’ve gone through about 4 other apps. Everything else is great and I haven’t seen any bugs or glitches so that’s really nice. I would Recommend.

Great for learning how to copy, not send

For learning how to copy I don't think you can beat it, but when it comes to sending (I bought the full version) I wish I could use my Bluetooth keyboard spacebar as a “key”. Trying to send with the touch screed is annoying and slow. Still worth the money for the rest of it though, i can use my oscillator to practice sending I guess, just don’t get the feedback if i missed something doing it that way.

Amazing Morse trainer! Optimized in efficient training

This app is so impressive that I felt I had to write a review. The app is clean and intuitive to use. The most impressive thing is the author clearly knows a ton of how human memorization works. It can be seen from how the distribution of old and new symbols changes with the level advances. I’ve just been using it for 10 minutes but I’m sure this app will keep impressing me. One more thing I wanted to share. I used to be a member of ham radio club 2 decades ago and I had always wanted to learn CW. But back then there was no such advanced morse training program. Most of them could be described as randomized flash cards I guess. My morse skill couldn’t reach the level of communicating in CW after a few attempts and I eventually gave up. But now after I’ve seen this app, my hope is back and I’m going to buy a CW key.Big thanks to the author for creating this amazing app!

Really helps!

Go ahead- learn a new language!MorseMania is your guide. Try for free until you use all the free features, and you will gladly pay to unlock the PRO features… it is very controllable to meet your requirements, specifically different areas of learning you encounter. There is so much here, and that makes it a great reference as well.Learning something new takes practice…MorseMania makes practice easy—- JUST ADD TIME!I believe it’s on CWOPs reference page, so there is another complement. 73.

Good app, needs improvements

Custom setting doesn’t remember what you chose last time, so it’s extremely painful to use that feature. I’d consider it broken. And you can’t use challenges to learn all the letters, because the sound button is disabled, but if you don’t do challenges then all the letters aren’t used equally frequently. Overall a great app, but huge shortcoming with these two problems.

Truly is the best

I’ve tested virtually every morse learning app available and none of them come close to this one. This app is by far the best. I rarely purchase apps, but I think this one would be well worth the investment. I also rarely review apps, but was so impressed by this one compared to all the others, that I felt had to spread the word. To the developer, thanks for creating such a useful & user-friendly & well-designed app! You’re very talented.

Very good trainer, has one glaring flaw

I love this app, it’s very well thought out, it’s vastly better than some of the others out there. However the keyboard is not laid out correctly, the keys are too far apart and the buttons are way too small. I practice on the iPad in the mornings and it’s too easy to miss a key, which gets frustrating at 20wpm. But even on my iPhone they are weirdly placed and not very practical, a more compact layout with larger buttons would make this perfect.

Description

In both the receiving and sending modes, the app starts with the easiest letters (E and T) and moves to more complicated ones. Once you master all the letters, it teaches you numbers and other symbols, and then proceeds to Prosigns, Q-codes, abbreviations, words, Callsigns, phrases and sentences. ---------------------------- Features: - 135 levels teach you to recognize (receive) 26 Latin letters, numbers, 18 punctuation marks, 20 non-Latin extensions, procedure signs (prosigns), Q-codes, most popular abbreviations, words, callsigns, phrases and sentences. - Another 135 levels teach and train you to send the Morse code. - 5 output modes: audio (default), blinking light, flashlight, vibration and light + sound. - 7 different keys for sending Morse code (e.g. iambic key). - 52 challenge levels test and consolidate your knowledge. - Custom level: create your own level to practice symbols of your choice.

Save your own list of symbols and load anytime. - NEW! “Playground” to test and train your Morse code sending skills. - Smart learning: custom level choice is pre-populated with symbols where you made the mistakes most recently. - Support for external keyboard. - Hints (for free!) when you need help. - Explore mode: if you want to hear the symbols, or see a list of prosigns, Q-codes & other abbreviations and hear their sound representation. - 4 themes to choose from, from bright to dark. - 9 different keyboard layouts: QWERTY, AZERTY, QWERTZ, ABCDEF, Dvorak, Colemak, Maltron, Workman, Halmak. - Randomize letter/symbol positions for each level (to ensure you're not just learning the position of the symbols on the keyboard). - Absolutely no ads. - Works completely offline. ---------------------------- Completely customize the app: - Adjustable speed: from 5 to 45 WPM (words per minute). Less than 20 is not recommended though, as it doesn't help you to actually learn the language. - Adjustable sound frequency: 400 to 1000 Hz. - Adjustable Farnsworth speed: from 5 to 45 WPM. Determines how long are the spaces between letters. - Adjustable difficulty level for sending the Morse code. - Disable/enable the progress circle in Settings. - Settings for progress speed, review time, time pressure and lives in challenges. - Setting for background noise: to better support some Bluetooth earphones that keep disconnecting from the phone while you play, or just to make it more challenging. - Ability to jump to the past levels to revise, or skip some if you're already familiar with certain characters. - Ability to reset mistakes and levels. ---------------------------- Read our dedicated blog posts to get the most out of the game.
