Excellent

I am a Behavior Specialist in the schools district. I have witnessed children with very low cognitive levels and poor coordination master some of the exercises in the application. The joy and personal sense of accomplishment the child emits is gratifying.

Paid version

After my son used the free version I realized it was a must buy. So I did and it was worth it. Very simple to use and kids seem to catch there mistakes sooner. I now use this app with many children learning letters and matching upper and lower case letters. There is one flaw that could upset special needs students especially autistic students. When matching uppercase to lowercase sometimes line will disappear. The child will then try redoing it but app won't let them. For this reason only I give it 4 stars. So to avoid melt down tell the child and show them to avoid melt down;)

As a teacher, I would agree with the concerns of having this program match those that are learned in school. I like the idea of changing the app so people can chose which letter to work on. As an interventionist, this would make a great app to use with students working on particular letter needs. The biggest concern is both the letters b and d start with a line down. The d should start with the circle first, the same way the letter a is started. The direction of the circle is commonly confused and teaching the discrepancy between the start of each letter helps this confusion. This app does not make this discrepancy.

O is for Owl???

I bought the full version of this app because I was so impressed with the preview, especially for tracing and matching letters. Then we got to the letter flash cards and the words for each of them. For letter o, instead of choosing octopus or octagon, o is for owl. Apparently an educator was not the designer of this game because when teaching a young child letter recognition, the letter should be associated with its common sound. Then we have x is for xylophone. Everyone does it, but it's such a mistake. X should be for box or fox. I hope the game designers see this review and think about updating the flash cards with more appropriate words and sounds. Then it would be a 5 star review for me.

Good

My now 3 yo has been using this ap for a while. It's simple and easy for him to use, and he is definitely learning from it. One annoyance - when playing the "pick the letter___" game, the sound effects for picking the wrong letter have been deemed way more fun than what you hear when choosing the correct letter (no fun noise but just the name of an object beginning with the letter) . I know my son knows his letters but he would rather pick the wrong letters to hear the fun noises. These get old after a few minutes. I wish there was a way to turn the sound effects off for the wrong letter (turning off audio makes it difficult to play the game as there are audio instructions on what letter to choose).

ADHD letter help!

My 6yr old son was really struggling until we started using this app together. The robot sounds and vibrations it makes while he traces the letters and says the letter sounds out loud to me is jut what he needed to stay focused and be interested in doing the app. Now my 3 year old wants to be just like his brother and he is loving this app. They are different kids and while my now 3 yr old is all about learning his letters my 6 year old would never have used this app when he was 3. I am sooooo thankful for this App!

Not very helpful

Not what i needed as i want to quiz my 4 year old on separate upper and lower case letters. She can easily know them if she has the other one next to it to give her a hint. Wish they had flash cards with single letters on them. The tracing will be handy though.

Great App!

My youngest at his 18 month check up I was advised by my doctor to take my son to a speech therapist because he was not really talking at all. Shortly after that when I got an iPad and found this app I started him working on it everyday. Now in about three weeks he will have his two year check up he knows all his alphabet and several words to go with each letter, not only that he can trace all of his letter and recognizes letters in any orientation and in a group of letters can identify each one individually. He has made amazing progress all starting with this app. Thank You!!!

I downloaded the free version and my son was begging for the full version. That's when you know its a good one. So I downloaded the full version and he worked on his letters for an hour. As a parent, I am so happy that he loves it and he is learning." "My 2 year old daughter loves this app. Initially the app had only recognizing the alphabets now it also features writing. My daughter didn't have any interest to write alphabets on paper but when she saw the app, she learned to write in a few days. On the whole excellent app recommend the full version to all parents with little children." Four great games to develop your skills: - ABC Flashcards to get started recognizing letters The uppercase and lowercase versions of each letter is shown on a card. Tapping on the card flips it over to reveal an object starting with the letter while a voice announces the letter and the objects.
