Why make it hard for players to play?

The strangest thing about this game is the fact that it’s actually difficult to get a bunch of games going. You know, in Words with Friends, you can play all day. You just keep inviting random people and there’s never a limit. This game limits how many games you can play. Well, it’s actually the game boards you have to earn. I couldn’t believe the first time I played — I was just getting started and it said I was out of game boards. I had to watch a video to get ONE game board. It’s crazy. Then, in case you have some extra time and want to watch a bunch of videos so you can get more game boards, you can only watch three. It’s exactly the opposite of what a game developer should be doing. Seems the goal would be to get the player to stick with the game, keep playing, get lots of boards. But to have to watch an entire video to get one game board — and then having to watch videos between moves — it’s insane. I would never have hung in there if a friend hadn’t kept at me. I would have deleted the app and that would have been the end of it. If you can manage to not delete the app out of frustration, it’s actually kind of fun. A little strange because some of clues are downright absurd. There are weird drawings and clues to acronyms that don’t really exist. But if these folks can stop with the dumb policy to make us watch all those videos, I’m sure they’ll be more successful.

Great Game Until the Recent Update(s)

I love your game! I have played with friends and random opponents. I love both the long form of the game and the more head-to-head competitive quick version of the game. However you get a low rating due to your latest update. Your addition of advertisements have ruined this app. It continually crashes in the middle of games, just stops responding in the middle of games, and takes forever to load. Today while playing a quick form head to head match, the game never came back after one of your new ads played. I was worried the game would automatically forfeit me because I had to leave. I had to completely close the app (double click the home button and remove it from the recent app list) and was concerned that by leaving it in that manner, it would automatically end of the game giving the win to my opponent. Apparently you don’t understand the concept of completely testing new versions before releasing them on the unsuspecting public. I am hoping you release a new update soon that addresses these issues. Until then I warn people that if they are going to install this app that you do not play quick forms of the game or you will risk your game being forfeited due to the app crashing.

A fantastic game with some major issues

I love this game and it’s clear how much work went into creating it. It is so original, captivating, and challenging. However, the game board aspect of the game pretty much ruins it for me. Even with the new update where you can earn coins to get game boards, you can never earn enough game boards to not be annoyed by the lack of game boards. I run out every day. One game board costs way too many coins when you only earn ten coins for winning (and don’t earn extra coins for playing on expert) and you can only play three games a day, four if you have enough coins saved up. It would take an astronomical number of games to be able to afford ten game boards with coins when you can only earn 30-40 coins a day if you win all games. It’s not a good system and taints an otherwise fantastic game. You should definitely be able to watch more than three ads to earn game boards in a 24 hour period, and it would be great if you had three game boards that regenerate automatically over maybe an eight or twelve hour period. Other games offer similar rewards to game boards for completing tasks such as browsing a website, downloading an app, or watching a longer video, maybe you could do something like that? Please fix the game board issue! We’re gettin weary out here!

Good Concept, but . . . .

This game does have its moments. It will have you cursing, swearing and chewing your nails. First off, verb tenses and noun/pronoun plurals are often wrong. There are other grammatical errors here and there, but the game itself is fun, if you can afford the boards without having to wait for an ad to acquire them. They just recently had a price increase which I feel is near to gouging. The “quick” games are somewhat out of kilter as, most often, your opponent will always play first giving them the edge on the blue spaces for lots of extra points. This being said, the game itself is quite entertaining and challenging. I have invested in purchasing boards on several occasions, but due to the sharp increase in their prices, I will no longer continue to play once this purchase is depleted. Just can’t afford the extra cost. Also, new players BEWARE! As in any app game, there are sharks out there who have played this game for a long enough time that they know exactly how to win by holding strategic tiles until the end. Most recently, a new bug. Developers have now made it impossible to resign from a “quick” game! Even though you resign the game and remove the board, the game will keep returning until it is finished, and of course, you lose.

The game itself is great but...

I actually really really love this game; however, it’s been locking up lately and the only way I can get it to work again is to close the app completely and then open it from the start again. It’s a work around but it’s very very annoying. Also, I think that the freebie boards should be more often/more than 3/day. If not, the price of the boards should be a little more generous. It’s easy to fly through those (after all it can be a very quick game...over in just a few minutes if both parties are playing). I also realized after starting that whether you send a game request or receive one, you get charged a board. That doesn’t make sense to me. It should be if you initiate the game you get charged, but if your opponent initiates, they get charged. As I said the games don’t usually last that long and you blow through them quickly. When I choose a game to play, I focus on that game. After I spend my budget, I fill in with other games, but often I lose focus on that game and focus on others if I feel there is more value. I love your game so please please give the players more value for playing it!

So Many Ads and Not Enough Benefits

This game plays great and has a really cool unique setup that makes it very enjoyable for the casual player. But… Do you really need to have ads play after every turn? You have micro ads playing on each screen and then you have ads playing after each and every turn. I get the desire to make money off a game like this but the only option to remove the adds is a $10/month subscription? Seems to me like your cost to reward ratio is heavily skewed. Please offer tiered one time purchases for the ads! The ads are to intrusive and it really takes away from the enjoyment of the game. Again, I’m all for making money but there has to be some thought into when and where you stick intrusive ads. Maybe at the end of the game instead at the end of each turn? Maybe when you first load the game? Also, the game board situation is just as tragic and needs to be retooled. Maybe offer 5 games boards a day instead of three? Maybe lower the cost to purchase? You want people in your game and you want them to contribute to your ad revenue. Please don’t penalize people for not wanting to add on another monthly subscription. Be part of the change in the mobile industry and be creative with your revenue streams, which we all know you can do, I mean look at your game, it’s obvious a gem of a game!!

Great concept, definitely a money pit.

I love the game in itself. There isn’t many crossword or word games out there like this. However, if you want to play more than 3 games a day you’ll have to pay money. You can watch 3 ads every 24 hours for 3 game boards, after that you have to either use coins, which you win 2-10 coins per game depending on whether or not you win, and to buy a single game board is 90 coins. So you’d have to win roughly 9 games over the course of 3 days to win ONE game. To pay to play is not cheap and not for nothing but you have to watch ads in between turns when you’re playing the game. So they are making tons of money off of ads alone let alone people who really enjoy this game who just want to play. It will cost you 5 dollars just to play 10 games. It’s quite ridiculous and I’ve never seen such an expensive game with so many ads before. I’ll probably delete the app as there are free games like this out there where you can sit and binge play on a rainy day without spending a lot of money. The creators should consider offering a monthly subscription or changing the price of a single game board.

Could be so much better

I really like the concept of this game, but it has so many issues. First off, it’s buggy. It constantly has issues, it gets my phone VERY hot very quickly, it crashes a lot, it just generally does not run well. Another issue is that there is no way to start a new game unless you either pay or watch an ad. It would be nice if you could do something to earn games. I’m so tired of games that you have to pay a small fortune to play or it just isn’t as fun or super obnoxious because it’s nothing but watching ads. Not only do you have to watch an ad to start a new game, it makes you watch ads after many of your turns. I honestly refuse to pay ANY money on apps that are that greedy. If an app has options to reduce/remove ads by paying a one time fee, I’m much more willing to spend money on the app in other ways, as long as it’s not outrageous pricing like so many other phone games. It’s absolutely ridiculous the amount of money games like this ask you to pay to make the game enjoyable. I could pay $60-$70 on a PlayStation game with incredible graphics and a beautiful storyline and play-through and then some stupid phone app asks me to pay $99 for gems, or boards, or whatever form of currency they’re using in the game that will be gone in a matter of a week. It’s ridiculous. Don’t waste your time or money with this game. Find a better one that runs better and doesn’t ask you to sell your first born child to play it.

It’s fun, but…

This game is so fun. There aren’t many mobile word games with this format, so I’m glad I found this one. I’ve read some other reviews and I also agree that there are way too few game boards. They don’t regenerate everyday, if you use up your initial 10 boards, that’s it. From then on, you can watch 3 ads to get 3 new boards (once every 24 hours), use your in game points to buy boards (1 board is 96 coins, you earn 10 coins if you win a game), or you have to spend real money to get more game boards. Since this is the only game of its kind on the App Store, I guess they’ve been able to get away with this system, it just makes it much harder to enjoy the game. One game can take 10 minutes, tops, so you can see how quickly you can run out of boards. They should make it like other games where boards regenerate at least daily, maybe only 3 boards. Then you could purchase others as needed or wanted. As it is, the games are over way too quickly and I can’t play as often as I might like. I hope the developers will make some kind of change like this!

Lies about free boards

The game itself is fun, but it states that you will get 10 free game boards if you have a friend sign up, as well as giving them 10 free boards to start. I have sent the link to 2 separate people with no free boards awarded to me, and since they have neglected to give me any, it will not even let me accept the challenges from the friends that used my link to sign up. Very misleading and frustrating while having to wait 24 hours to watch an AD to get 1 board TO PLAY WITH THE PEOPLE THAT SIGNED UP WITH MY INVITATION. Highly dissatisfied with the unkept promises of the game creators.Update: I am beyond annoyed with this game. The game glitched while I was carrying a letter and it stuck on top of letters that had already been placed, so I was unable to put it back in my queue OR move it on the board. I then took a screenshot to address the issue and it warned me to not screenshot the board, then they SENT A MESSAGE to my opponent stating that I had cheated and compromised the game. If you are considering playing, beware of the misleading information and glitching that is not mentioned in their description. The creators of this game have done a HORRIBLE job on the functioning, and I recommend that NO ONE spends real money on this app, you most likely won’t receive or be able to correctly use what you are purchasing.
