Saving picture

This gimbal is great it works good on phone and yes on previous feedback the saving of the picture sometimes fails.. i have my hohem recently at a beach and took pictures but then i was missing 4 pictures not saved..i suppose it was the software and not the unit itself..? I hope they can update it that way it will give most users the best benefit of it. That goes too with the video, very seldom it happens not like taking pictures

TERRIBLE. Better off using iPhone camera

I got the stabilizer that goes with their app and decided to test it out, so I could do zooming and whatnot during an interview I was conducting. Well, it turns out that the file was “too big” to save in the app and never saved in my videos. It instead saved to a folder in files on my iPhone. I though, ok that’s fine, it’s safe there. Well I was wrong, because the next time I opened the app it deleted the files from my iPhone. Poof, gone. Not in recently deleted folder, just completely gone. This is an awful app, with an awful design and may well cause you to lose precious work. This app has cost me more time and money that the whole gimbal cost in the first place. I’d avoid this app at all costs.

Absolute Horse $h!t

The app is on your phone. Your photo library is on your phone. But for some reason, the app won’t save to your phone unless it has an active Bluetooth connection to the gimbal. It’s also slow at saving, so if you take a 10min video, you have to stand there for another 5-10min with your phone in the gimbal while the app actually saves the video. Otherwise, it’s all deleted. It simply makes more sense to use your phone’s camera app. The only drawback is having to zoom manually, but at least you know you’ll have a video when all is said and done.

Well thought out and easy to use

This is a powerful app with many options and controls. Installing and setup was easy with no type of issues involved. Everything worked and continues to work.I’m using a Akaso V50 Elite camera and unfortunately there is no camera connection and the camera controls on the Hohem iSteady Pro 4 are useless. Fingers crossed for a 5 star firmware upgrade to get this issue solved. Thanks for the quality app and a great product in the Pro4 gimbal.

Please fix the app issues

Just today, I was recording video of my dog and got some incredibly good shots. Worthy shots. Worthy of a documentary about owning small dogs, and twice the video did not save. Save failure. Twice. I think the hardware is good. The software, aka APP, is terrible. There are countless issues, and I won’t go into detail about the all, but the fact that I have lost to different sets of video due to a “Save Failure”, well, that’s nearly unforgivable. I should mention as well: my phone does optical zoom, but your app only does digital. Please fix that as well. That’s egregious.

The App is TRASH

Takes forever to save videos longer than 5-6 minutes out of may not save at all. I’ve lost valuable footage on two different occasions either waiting for the darn video to save to start my next recording, or later finding out the video didn’t actually save at all. Extremely disappointing!! Worried I’d lose more footage, I ended up just manually recording and holding my phone in my hand. 23 minute video saved instantly. Its a average gimbal purchase without the additional app features. Either update the app or I will be returning and getting my$80 back!!!

Great features, terrible saving

The app overall, for my liking, is great. Does everything I would like it to. Though, aside from facial and object tracking, the standard camera app exceeds it. This app would have received at least a 4 stars from me if the save feature wasn’t terrible.The app can save photos, panoramas and videos up to 4 minutes just fine for me. Anything past that and I get the “insufficient memory” issue. I have well over 30GB of free storage on my device. So this may be allotted storage for the app itself?According to the quick pop-up that is visible for a second (at most), it suggests that you go into your files app or connect your phone to a computer to obtain the video. Good luck finding it in your files; so you’re best off plugging it into your computer and dragging it off iTunes (if you’re a Microsoft user). I was able to successfully download my video that way (I needed to get a HEVC extension software to play it).***A word of warning, it seems the app saves the video in a temporary storage location. Meaning, if you “reload” the app, the video goes “poof.” So be careful of that.

Face Tracking Doesn’t Work Right

V1.0.7 of the App - Face Tracking is broken. Only takes photos every few seconds. Will not allow you to take video in that Face Tracking mode. Moreover, once Face Tracking is started, the app is locked into a weird “recording” mode that you can’t get out of without force quitting the app. It looks like it’s recoding video but the video record button is gone. Pan/tilt direction settings (in the app) on the joystick do not get saved. Have had to reset those many times just in the first two days of owning the gimbal.

TV Professional/Love this product!

Bottom line: I LOVE IT! I’ve been in television production for over 30 years. Have a lot of experience with camera support equipment. I have this app. and gimbal, and use it personally and professionally with my cell phone. It does what it says it does. It’s very easy and convenient. It works very well. The features are easy and helpful as well. I honestly don’t understand why others have rated it so low. I use it. It’s easy. Very handy. I highly RECOMMEND this app and gimbal to anyone, for pro or home movies!

What’s the problem?

Got my Hohem gimbal yesterday and spent time with it and the app last night and today. I have to say that all the problems being reported below must have been fixed with one of the numerous updates that have come out. The videos saved directly into my phone (not the app), it didn’t crash once, and the directions and interface is fairly intuitive. Two slight issues that kept me from giving it 5 stars: 1) every time I powered it up I had to calibrate the gimbal, which may or may not be normal? The directions don’t say. 2) sometimes the “double tap” to record didn’t work, so I had to tap the record icon on the phone’s screen. The longest video I took was about 2 1/2 minutes so I don’t know if long videos cause a problem. Stabilization was good, maybe not great but what do you expect out of a $90 gimbal? Anyway, I like it.
