Clumsy

This review is only about the app—not the site. I deleted the app after only two days. In order to see who “viewed” my profile, it was unusable. I would receive an email indicating someone had viewed my profile, click on it end it would take me directly to a list of those who viewed my profile. After downloading the app it would go directly to the app and whatever page was last opened, and if the app was closed, it would take me to the home page which only showed me the newly joined, with the option to view all. While the help feature said go to the homepage and scroll to “views”, there was absolutely no such option on the app homepage. There is also no way to view those whom I had “liked” on the app, while on the website it was quite easy by clicking on “Messages, I would then see a feature showing me the option to view those whom I had previously liked. On neither site was I able to unlike someone I had already “liked❤️” which was unfortunate because I liked someone by mistake & broke the poor man’s heart.

Needs a upgrade/makeover

Catholic Match is a great organization, but the app needs a serious upgrade. Frequently the app crashes — in fact, it crashes every time it asks me to rate it which is how I got here. It crashes when I’m trying to change my location (still won’t let me), it crashes when I’m trying to message someone, etc. Also, the finger tap response time really lags and makes navigating the app frustrating. The design of the app is also super dated, adding to the stigma around it not being “cool” to be on Catholic Match. If you want young, normal, single Catholics to get on Catholic Match — make the app looks modern and sleek! Just hire an app developer who can replicate the more modern styles of Hinge or Bumble. By doing this, I guarantee more normal Catholic YAs will join. It’s also annoying that you can’t see the profiles you’ve liked all in one place. So if you like someone’s profile, but haven’t messaged them yet, you have to dig through hundreds of profiles to find them again. Also, for some reason whenever I upload hi-res photos, they still end up grainy and low quality on my profile. There’s also no way to crop photos if they upload in a way that cuts off your head. I’ve seen so many profiles with pictures of just torsos. Like I said, I think Catholic Match is a great organization and that you can find your spouse on here. BUT the functionality and dated design of the app is really getting in the way of its own mission.

Best dating app.

Ever since I signed up for the dating website. I’ve seen some interesting beautiful young women. And some of them viewed my profile. I couldn’t message any of them because i didn’t update to a subscription plan. So I tried subscribing for one month. So after subscribing for one month, I started messaging some beautiful young women and I waited and waited for one of them to respond but nothing. So I don’t get it. How come any of them won’t respond? I don’t know. Maybe they have their own busy agenda. Or perhaps i have to subscribe to a premium. I would like some honest answers.

Scam Alert

Nice to see CM deleted my original review. What a complete rip off! As a woman, I believe that the man should always initiate conversations and pursue the woman. Mass majority of guys that liked my profile don’t even do that. Or if you reach out, they don’t even respond at all. You also have people that lie on their profiles. They say they believe in Al the teachings of the Church, but not really. You also have really rude a***holes who insult you and cal you broken when you tell them you’re just getting back into online dating after a break. Their newsletters from Kateri Bean are also tone deaf and slightly insulting at times. When my subscription ends, I’m not renewing. You guys made me feel so bad about myself to the point of hating myself. Y’all should be shut down!

Setting to inactive doesn’t work

I don’t know why they even offer to let you set your profile to inactive when they don’t stop showing your profile to people and they can still message you and you still get new message notifications from the app. There’s nothing inactive about that. The only thing setting to inactive does is tell YOU that you are inactive if you open the app. That’s ridiculous. If I set it to inactive, they should not be showing my profile to ANYONE. Clearly someone who is inactive is not interested in receiving new messages, and CM shouldn’t be wasting other people’s time and money by showing them my profile. But of course that would not benefit them because they want to make it look like there are tons and tons of people on the app even if half are inactive. This is not the honesty I would expect from a Catholic company. Shame on them.

Too much

The idea behind this app is great, but poor execution. First of all, why are a bunch of people I’ve never matched with messaging me? Why are you showing my profile to people all over the country when I set my preference to 25 miles and said I’d never be willing to relocate and that I am not looking for a long distance relationship? On that note why am I seeing profiles from people all over the country? Why when I gave a particular age range preference are you showing my profile to people outside of that range? The age and distance are really the only preferences this app even offers and even then they aren’t honored at all. I don’t think those are negotiable things for most people. For the price you pay for this app, what you get is a huge let down. How do I get a refund?

Do not spend your money on this

This is by far the worst attempt at a matchmaking app. The site has actively removed useful features like being able to see how recently someone was active. As a result, you could be writing a message to someone who has not been online in years. They also do not even require a Mutual like for sending messages. This means that if you’re a man, you just have to read every account and write bespike messages to someone who 1) May not even have been online in years and could be married by now and 2) someone who’s entirely uninterested in hearing from you This is internet dating. You can’t read body language and gauge how open someone is to you so the Mutual like is such a basic feature that would save men from wasting time and women from being messaged by literally everybody but Catholic Match does not care to be convenient or user friendly. There’s tons of fake accounts as well so have fun trying to figure out who’s real and who’s fake. You’d be better off literally driving to different churches around the country than spending a penny on this horrible garbageEdit: they just responded with a bunch of excuses and massaged language. Absolute trash app. I hope they go out of business.

So worth it!

A monthly membership is totally worth it! Within the first month, I “liked” and went on a first date with a guy who is now my current boyfriend. You can search for specific criteria or view people living in your area without a membership. In order to view messages sent to you, you would need a membership.The app doesn’t require both parties to necessarily “match” each other before being allowed to send a message. So this also means you may get a ton of messages, because you’re always visible to everyone that has the app. You can’t customize to be visible only to people living within your area. It didn’t take long to start getting to know a lot of great people. (Of course, be cautious and always meet someone in public in a place you’re familiar with and share your location with friends or family!)

Targeted suspensions

This is my second round trying CM. I woke up one morning to my account being suspended. I received an email saying they needed to verify my phone number. I found it odd for Faith based operation to invoke such tactics. After expressing concerns, they assured me I was not targeted but nonetheless they saw nothing wrong with their approach. Imagine the electric company cuts off your electricity because they need a piece of information or if the city cuts off your water on a Friday night until you provide a copy of driver license, and doing so after you had already been on there for few weeks. Some acts are flat out inappropriate and unprofessional. Now every day I wake up wondering if the account was suspended for any reason.

Not good.

It’s hard enough to find faithful Catholics in the world, so I appreciate that this app even exists... that said, it doesn’t run very well. Messaging is sluggish, there are a TON of inactive profiles that just sit there.... etc.Oh! And for the love of all that is holy, why oh why would you design a DATING APP where everyone’s pictures are weirdly cropped and zoomed when they appear on the profile (with no way to tap on it and open up the entire picture). The website shows pics in their true upload form- the app makes them practically unviewable. Idk man- just not good at all. They will mess with the pictures you choose if you try to upload one that doesn’t show your face the way they want it.All in all, it just isn’t worth what it costs- like by a long shot. You’re actually way better off using hinge or bumble where you can set your filters to show only Catholics.
