I had waited for this for ages, so I’m very excited it exists now. The interface is simple and the info they give is really helpful. However, I think it’s really missing the “downloads” and “buzz” data you can find on the website. I think that’s all it needs to do it’s job really well. Pipe-dream type stuff - I’d love to be able to add new merch, modify merch stock for multiple price points (shirt sizes, etc). But I don’t think that all is necessary, though it’d be great to have.
This app is good at letting you view your playback data, but you can’t listen to your own tracks through it... The other Bandcamp app is for fans, and it cuts you off of listening to your own tracks after a few plays. Like... I’m not going to purchase my own song bro lol... The two apps should just be combined into one, and when you create an account, it should just ask whether you’re a fan or an artist. As an artist, you should have the exact same app experience, with a music hub that lets you discover and play back music, create playlists, view your purchases, etc., except also have a “home” tab lets you access the playback and purchase stats for your own tracks, as well as all your uploads. Just my opinion. 🤷♂️.
The app is great so far, but I don’t see myself using it much until multi-user support is added. I’m not at all a label but I do manage several distinct projects (both current/active projects and band discographies) — for my purpose, logging in and out for each account is a huge pain. The bandcamp site has this option, hope to see it in the app soon!
It would be incredibly helpful to artists who release Name Your Price albums to have a downloaded section, as the app only mentions sales and follows. The downloads are the only way we can tell if people are grabbing it if they choose not to pay. This would be a five star review if it had that. Really grateful this is out though. Bandcamp is such an amazing resource for artists these days.
If you need to actually do anything important like upload music or edit tracks or albums - this app is virtually useless. I downloaded it because I thought it would be helpful since I don’t have a computer, but it’s actually just easier to do everything on the website on desktop view ! 🙄 I usually don’t write reviews but this app made me so angry I had to!!!!!
I’m not seeing any way to view a list of supporters. When I select them in the app, it just opens a new message to them. Can’t you just view the supporters, or better yet, that AND send an individual message? It’s all or nothing.Would also be great if there was some way to manage or edit album pages. Having an iPad formatted version would also be helpful. Almost better to just the web on an iPad.
I feel like on an app like this you should be able to POST your music and not just manage it. Also, there is a weird bug that it shows less followers than you actually have.
I was so excited to see this app come out, it’s about time! I like to listen to my own music because I don’t save my own work into my phone, but the BC app has a play limit even on unplayed songs. Finally, the artists app, so you think you’d be able to review your own music and listen to it right? Nope. They’ve not even thought about adding that. I can’t listen to my own music. Are you joking? You finally do the right thing and make the app for us, and you leave out a key element? Wow. Well done.
This app is barely functional and almost useless.Either update this app with the actual artist functionality on the site or stop offering it. Artists would be better off having to go to the site instead of opening this app hoping they can actually do something with it, and then finding out the truth.
This is an iPhone app. Feels a little cheap when used on an iPad since it has to be scaled up. Wouldn’t cost them much to re-lay the screens out & recompile. It is, after all, an app used by artists to assist in generating income for Bandcamp (as well as artists). Not really what one would consider “pro level”.
The Bandcamp App for Artists and Labels lets you directly message your fans, even targeting those messages by fan location and level of support. It also gives you a real-time mobile view into your stats, and helps you manage and fulfill your merch.
