Can’t login

Like everyone else—I used to use this app and it would just recognize when you had a subscription and let you read. It doesn’t anymore. I emailed support and got nothing back. Asking for a refund.

Designed for Print vs Digital + Can’t Log In

App won’t let me login as instructed using my AWP site credentials. As a result, I could only see the preview versions of these publications. But even those were designed for print instead of the digital layout needed for a phone app. It’s a lot to have to zoom in and out twenty times to read one page. I’m confused by this design choice especially after AWP announced cancelling its print version of the magazine (hence why I’m here struggling with this app). Maybe they will just publish the articles on the website soon, so they are really accessible? I get if it has to be behind a paywall so the content still feels like a perk of membership.

Does not work

I really want to love this app, but I cannot login. Tried uninstalling and reinstalling but keep getting the message “unable to authenticate”. Any help would be appreciated.

Can’t Login

I’m able to login to my AWP account from my laptop but not from the app. I’m really disappointed. The app is useless.

WARNING - THIS APP DOES NOT WORK!!!!

I am an AWP member. I receive the print copy in the mail, but I would prefer to read here electronically. But the application does not allow my to logon using the same credentials I use to log on to the AWP website. When will someone from AWP get their act together and realize that this application represents all of us. We can and should do better.

Disappointed

Same issue as others while I was an AWP member. I contacted AWP about the issue several times to no avail. Due to non responsiveness, I allowed my membership to expire.

Not able to log on as paid subscriber

I have emailed customer support numerous times asking for help logging on so I can access my subscription. I would like to be able read the magazine on the app when I am not at home. No one ever responds to my requests for help. I receive the paper version in the mail and am able to log on to the website without any problem. Reading the reviews, it seems I am not alone. They should stop paying people to make the digital version of the magazine as their paid membership isn't able to read it.

Authentication fails members

Unfortunately I had the same experience as a previous reviewer. I had hoped the problem had been fixed by now but no. It is particularly annoying because there is no way to get past that notification and request help.Later—when I went back and tapped on the app to try to delete it in disgust, low and behold it popped open and I had full access! There seems to be a glitch that required me to close it after downloading and logging in before I could reopen and access the issue. ??? Anyway, it seems to work now so I have upped my rating.

Spoke too soon

Oh. So I can’t log in with my paid for AWP info. I also get the magazine already and would love to use the app, especially to see some back issues, but I guess not. Lame.

Description

The Writer's Chronicle provides community, information, news, and ideas for writers. The Writer's Chronicle is published by the Association of Writers & Writing Programs (AWP), a nonprofit arts organization. Each issue of the Chronicle also features news on the national literary scene, including listings of opportunities for grants, awards, and publication.

Henry James wrote that the essence of his craft as a writer was loneliness—more profound than discipline or genius; and, as it was for James, so solitude remains the home base for many writers. While you pursue a challenging and lonely art, it’s good to take a break with some good company, like those writers found in the Writer’s Chronicle. The Chronicle has published interviews with accomplished writers such as Rita Dove, Andre Dubus III, Lucille Clifton, Mark Doty, Colum McCann, Lee Gutkind, Don Lee, Sherman Alexie, Patricia Hampl, Cynthia Ozick, Ted Kooser, Aleksandar Hemon, and Cornelius Eady among many others. We have also published great essays on the art and craft of writing by Bret Lott, Kazim Ali, Mark Jarman, Charles Baxter, Martin Espada, Alice Mattison, Maxine Kumin, Thomas Mallon, and Dana Gioia. Our essays will provide you with the best writerly advice. You will read how other writers read the works of their peers for new insights on how to shape poems, stories, memoirs, and novels. Here are just a few examples of topics that we have covered: Cormac McCarthy’s deft use of setting, Eudora Welty’s use of colloquial speech, the role of minor characters in creative nonfiction, what police reports can teach a writer about the voice of storytelling, strategies for the closure of poems, the ethics of appropriating ethnic voices, navigating family sensitivities in memoir writing, and masters and innovators of formalist poetry. - Current subscribers: Tap lock icon to login OR tap money icon and circular arrow to restore previous purchases. - New users: Preview partial issues, then tap page to bring up toolbar, tap hub for issue gallery.
